Davis – Round 27: ‘Run This Town’

Fou-Lu Yu and Elena Davis are at the end of their adult lives.  The big transition will change little for them, still happily unmarried.  Emily Davis isn’t a little girl anymore and is quickly figuring out what she wants from life.

Now that Emma is back from college and living in Aperture, she visits often.  Thankfully, the visits aren’t nearly as strained as they had once been.  Elena and Fou-Lu were barred from giving her any help, but she was allowed to visit.  It was difficult, to not slip her some money, but the repercussions from Gordon would be severe.  Emma never asked for help, she toughed it out, happy to just see her family.

Emily was always quiet during her older sister’s visits.  They’d never been terribly close.

Emily shared her mother’s love for dance, but in a more casual way.  She wasn’t sure if she wanted a career in it, in fact, she wasn’t sure she wanted a career in anything.  She wasn’t so jaded to think life was easy and the streets were paved with gold; she was just aware that she had an opportunity most didn’t–she could decide what she wanted to do.  She was going to take her time and figure it out, find something she truly loved.

“As long as it isn’t a life of crime,” was Elena’s only opinion on the matter.  She always worried that her girls would get the wrong impression from their grandfather.  “And it involves college.”

Emily sighed, “not everything has to involve college.”

“Well, it should.  Good girls go to college… even Emma managed to make it through college!”

Fou-Lu took his chance quickly, “there’s plenty of time to figure it out.”

“Oh, no.  Not a word from you–look how long it took you!  Don’t be like your father, Emily.  It only makes life ten times more difficult, you need to have goals and ambitions.”

Fou-Lu made a face, “I had goals!”

“Your only goal was to wake up every morning.  You still don’t have goals.”

“I have a job, though.  A great one!”

“Because of your family connections.  You lucked out, fell into it.”

Emily rolled her eyes, “will you two stop?  I’m not going to waste time, I’ll figure it out… just give me a chance, okay?  Sheesh.”

Fou-Lu continued to mutter, “…at least my family doesn’t involve some crazy vampire crime boss…”

Elena and Fou-Lu’s birthdays snuck up on them before they realized it.  They’d gone through a lot together and despite being so different, had managed to make it work in the end.  Sure, they bickered sometimes and even argued, but it was just part of the deal.  When you’re so different, you’re bound to run into conflict; the entire point was that they got through it and loved one another despite it.

Emily had to be careful not to fall into her older sister’s footsteps.  Being who she was, she fell easily into the ‘elite’ group of teens in high school.  Despite living in Aperture, she attended the same academy, so her circle of friends consisted of Alexander and Charity Saunders.  Emily and Charity didn’t always see eye-to-eye, but Alexander was the mediator between the two.  To Emily, Charity was just too wild and to Charity, Emily was just a big old prude.

They would gather at Emily’s house sometimes, when it was convenient, usually on weekends.  It was located downtown and surrounded by all sorts of fun things.  All their families had money, so it isn’t like they had to worry about not being able to pay or make their way around.

The elite group consisted of five teens…

Deidre O`Hanlon, of course, was their leader.  It was her exotic looks and ridiculous charisma that had drawn so much attention and popularity.  Being the daughter of a famous actor and director sure didn’t hurt, either.  Never far behind Deidre was Dominic Knight.  The opposite of Deidre’s outgoing and charismatic nature, Dominic preferred brooding stares to actual conversation.  It was a front, of course.  Dominic was as friendly as the next, but he just preferred to leave all the senseless talking to Deidre.

His sister, Nadia, was excluded from the group given her childhood rivalry with Deidre.  Deidre had been willing to let things pass, but Nadia had gone a step too far when she insinuated that Deidre’s eyes were contacts.  That was the last straw.

Charity and Alexander Saunders, unlike Dominic and Nadia Knight, are inseperable.  When you see one, you can be sure the other is not far behind.  It’s a miracle they manage to use the gender restricted bathrooms without going into shock.  While not as brutal as their older sister, they still have a bit of a mean streak to them.  It’s usually a good idea to stay on their good side.  Alexander effectively ‘blocks’ any male that might try to take Charity up on one of her lewd offers.

Emily Davis, compared to the rest, seems unremarkable.  She knows that’s not true and she’s quite content letting them take the spotlight.  She’s the one behind the scenes, directing the events and moving the players around on the stage.  She’s the nicest one in the bunch and usually tries her best to keep the peace.  She still talks to Nadia Knight and while friends with everyone in the group, is closest to Alexander.

There’s plenty of rumors, but Emily laughs them off.  They’re not closely related and any relation they may have would have started out as halved, but still… Alexander is a friend.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Whether or Alexander agrees, however, is a very good postulation…

Note from Mao: Nothing exciting at the Davis house, unfortunately.  Emily is a Family sim so she’s obsessed with her first kiss, but there aren’t any compatible male teens out there for her yet, sigh.  She’ll have to wait!  She’s part of the it-group because she befriended Alexander.  These guys make a scary little group.  I wouldn’t want to go to high school with them.  ;)

It would be so easy to hook Alexander and Emily up.  Of course, it’s weird because Michael and Elena consider themselves siblings even though they’re not.  They’d guarantee me some CC genetics and nice face structures.  Unfortunately, unless the sims press the issue, I won’t.  The Elena/Michael thing would be enough for Michael to throw a fit and Elena to be disgusted, LOL.  If they did press it, it’d make for a hilariously gross storyline.

And now, a funny outtake picture.  Dominic starts talking about aliens and Deidre just has this look on her face, LOL!  I think she’s tired of hearing it, poor girl.  She’s smart, but everyone only knows her for her “exotic looks”.

  1. I guess Deirdre should probably get used to that! Sims do love to talk, especially about aliens (even in my hood, where there aren’t any!)

I was going to ask if there was something between Alexander and Emily – there looks like there could be, the way he’s looking at her in that last pic!

Refresh my memory though – Elena and Michael are cousins, right? Which would make Alexander and Emily…first cousins, once removed? I have many pairings like that in my game, I think. Joanna and Rose are first cousins, once removed – Rose’s mother was Joanna’s father’s cousin. I avoid mentioning it in the actual updates, though sometimes I’ll say something in Notes! If I ignore it, it doesn’t exist, which means no ickiness or weirdness!

  2. Wow. She is beautiful. Glad to see the rather quiet update. LOL. Elena and Fou-Lu aged gracefully. I know it’s easy to just hook Alex and Emily up, but remember the population control. I have that problem with two sims in my Legacy neighborhood.

  3. They are related two ways, but both are only half relations. Like, for instance, they are related by Eileen O`Hanlon, but Emily is from the original side (Mary) and Alexander is from the Yu side (after she married Sun-Tzu). They aren’t even actual cousins, because there’s a generational gap. Emily is Gen 2 and Alexander is gen 3. But Michael and Elena were raised as siblings, they see themselves as brother and sister… so for their kids to start dating, it would be odd. I’m sure they’d have some reaction to it. ;)

It’ll be interesting if something pops up between them, but I won’t force it!

  4. Population control is actually easier when you don’t bring an outside NPC into things. ;) We’ll see what happens. I’m pretty sure Alexander is related to every other teen, like the game recognizes it related, so only time will tell. I won’t force it, though.

  5. Yes, that group scares me too. Rich and popular at a school for the rich? Their family rakes in some serious dough.

Emily is so pretty! I love her outfit! Do you know where it’s from?

Lol at Deidre’s face she looks like she’s taking a deep breath to resist punching Dominic in his oh-so-pretty face.

  6. I wouldn’t want them at my high school either! I think that’s the best part of playing prosperity-style, though, or at least it is to me. I’ve played sims for a while but never in this style, and I’m so pleasantly surprised how the different generations really seem to bond. (Every time one of my sim kids brings home another playable from the neighborhood, I’m stupidly happy.) Yay for generational bonding!

And aw, Elena and Fou-Lu. Such sweet elders.

  7. I love Emily’s little posse! But man, that’s the only way to survive high school, lol! Safety in numbers! :)

Elena and Fou-Lu are elders! Awww, it seems so fast!

  8. LOL! Deidre is probably the richest, with Charity and Alexander only being rich by association with their grandfather. They live a pretty modest life compared to some. ;)

Emily’s outfit… I think it’s from a dead site, to be honest. I don’t have the game loaded, but I’ll edit this comment if I can figure it out.

  9. LOL! I love having sims interact, it’s so much fun. I’ve kind of always played my hoods this way, even before prosperity, only probably not as faithfully as I do this one. The best part of The Sims, to me, is having sims interact/etc. :D

    Comment by Mao — December 29, 2009 @ 7:55 pm

  10. LOL! That seems to be the generalized thought.

I know, I’m so sad. Soon they’ll be dead. :(

  11. I love the elite group of teens, they all look so fierce. I actually laughed so loudly when I read that Nadia insinuated Deidre’s eyes were contacts though. What a bitch! Emily is pretty, but boring. Family Sims are never interesting until college. Are they all going to college together? it’s bee so long since BS had a big college group together at the same time!

    Comment by Josh — December 29, 2009 @ 9:28 pm

  12. LOL, and for good reason, Josh! It’s always a pain playing all those sims together. I’m not sure if everyone here will end up going to college or not. We’ll have to wait and see. ;)

  13. That is a pretty scary group! I would not want to have to go up against them in the school halls. ;)

Aw, it’s sad to see Elena and Fou-Lu become elders.

    Comment by Shana — December 30, 2009 @ 12:28 pm

  14. LOL! Me either. :) I know, everyone is becoming old. It’s always so strange to see another generation turn gray…

    Comment by Mao — December 30, 2009 @ 1:20 pm

  15. true, the group is a little scary, but at least there are some nice ones in the group.

    Comment by starrsim — December 30, 2009 @ 2:24 pm

  16. This is true. :)

    Comment by Mao — December 30, 2009 @ 3:38 pm

  17. Minus the boys, those last couple images could be straight out of Mean Girls, I would not want to be on that groups bad side… I’m really surprised that Fou-lu made it to elderhood and that Elena didn’t strangle him before that, heh. The hilarity that would ensue if Alexander and Emily got together would be enough justification for it to happen. Michael did relent to Sade even though they are distantly related, I have a feeling he and Elena would get over it if a romance budded between Emily and Alexander ;)

    Comment by Liz — December 31, 2009 @ 6:06 pm

  18. Oh man, Mean Girls! How did I forget about that movie? Fou-Lu and Elena have a strange relationship, but it seems to work for them now, LOL!
