A Cry for Help… or Something Like That!

Filed under: Announcements — Mao @ 11:29 am

So, I’m still at a loss as to how to celebrate this whole anniversary thing.  I’m actually a bit too busy to even think about it right now, but I have.  I’ve been thinking about it since January!  Even my husband was woefully unhelpful.  So, it’s down to you guys.  Is there anything you want to see or are curious about?  The floor is open!

If there is, let me know.  Otherwise… I’m beginning to realize why I didn’t do it last year!  I just don’t have it in me to do these celebrations anymore.  ;)

  1. You can have a city-wide festival, maybe Founder’s Day. That was what I was thinking of having on mine (although I a huge way off from mine). At the festival, you can give out a Resident of the Year award to a resident (voted for by poll by your fans).

If you want to do it low-key, maybe just update your banner. Honestly, if you don’t feel like doing anything big, then don’t. It’s your site!

BTW, since the incorporation of my city, I’ve made it a point to stop being a lurker and comment on Boreal Springs. It’s a favorite city of yours and I’ve added it to my fav journals link. Keep up the good work!

  2. Is there a place on your site that is like a tour of the ‘hood (or ‘hoods? I don’t know if you have some people living in the downtown or not). It might be fun to have a guided tour of all the homes or at least some good pictures or layouts of houses you particularly love. I’ll keep thinking if there’s anything else that would be fun… this is hard!

  3. Normally, I wouldn’t sweat it but this is my first hood to last without a BFBVFS hitting it and destroying it. Not to mention the most consecutive generations in an entire hood. I had a legacy that went for around 12. :)

I’m curious what people want to see mostly because I’m so bad about this stuff. I’m not very showy at all.

  4. I had thought about something like that, but I’m so terrible at building that it held me back. I love seeing other people’s tours, but their hoods are always so well put together and thought out. This is a definite idea, though. I’ll see what I can work out of it. :D Thanks!

  5. I like the idea of a huge festival for the town!

Hmmm, or something easy – how about a recap of what was happening one year ago this month, and then we can see how much has changed over the year?

For my blog’s two-year, I’m working on something probably way more high-maintenance then you’re interested in doing, lol! I’m doing a prequel story about my founding Sims, with archived pictures, and interviews from representatives of each of the founding families :)

  6. That’s a cool idea, I can’t wait to see it! But for me, my founders were documented at the beginning of the blog. So I don’t think I could make that one work, LOL!

And you all just want me to throw another big party so everyone can slap one another like last time. ;)

  7. Have your loyal readership vote for their favorite residents of Boreal Springs and then extract them and put them up for download :) I wouldn’t mind having a Gordon in my hood ;)

  8. Geez, I did nothing for Sullivan’s first birthday, apart from mentioning it. I’ll have to do something this year, when November rolls around!

So obviously, I am the worst person to ask! LOL!

  9. How did you know? Lol. But seriously another humgonous party sounds like a good idea. Or a tour. One of the classics I guess but I’m really short on ideas. All the classic ones sound good because every hood has a twist to it.

  10. The only issue with that is CC. You have to go through bodyshop, I think, to retain CC and it never loads for me. :( I think all my CC killed it…

  11. LOL! I didn’t do anything for BS’ first, either. xD

  12. I am definitely chewing on these ideas–trying to work them out in my head. Thanks for the suggestions!

  13. You can always extract them thru SimPE and use clean installer to screen them. Putting up sims for DL seems pretty non-labor-intensive.

  14. Haha, yeah, I usually use SimPE, but SimPE doesn’t store the CC with the character file. Unless you already have the required CC, you get a bland character. They’re just not the same the if they look different. ;) You’re only getting the appearance as it is, all the personality is done by me… not really transferable. So I at least would want them to look the same, LOL!

  15. Do you ever have outtakes or funny shots that never make it into posts? And do you ever save them, if you do? That might be interesting to see as well. Hm. Still thinking about this because I might end up needing ideas some day too. I love the idea of reader participation, or voting on favorite people in the ‘hood…just not sure what you would do with them after that. LOL, maybe have a vote to resurrect one dead sim, ha!

  16. I usually just add those to the end of entries, hehe… so I don’t think I have any that you all haven’t seen. :) I save ALL my screens, though… I’m going to have to clear about half out. It’s just unnecessary… :( I’m so bad about keeping pictures forever!
