Knight – Round 26: ‘A Slice of Life’

Marla and Travis Knight have a pretty rough marriage, but they put their differences aside for their eldest daughter, Kit.  She’s moved in with her twins, Dominic and Nadia.  So far, everything is going fine… but for how long?

Dominic and Nadia are energetic and enjoy active games.  They especially love cops and robbers.  Maybe they do know about their father after all?  Technically, their grandfather is a criminal.  It’s hard to say which side they favor at this point.

Nadia is the talker of the two.  She isn’t shy about anything and never hesitates to share her opinion.  She speaks with her grandmother at breakfast about how nice it would be to have lots of money.  Marla agrees that money makes things easier, but is not necessarily a requirement for a happy and good life.

“Well, I guess having a lot of best friends would be nice, too.”

Nadia’s a bit fickle with her aspirations.  Sure, she’s only six, but she likes to think ahead.  Kit is a little worried.  She doesn’t want her daughter ending up in the same situation as her.  Kit was definitely guilty of having issues when it comes to decision making.

Dominic remains silent, preferring to observe his sibling’s oddities from a safe distance.

Kit works throughout the day, so Marla is usually home with the twins after school.  She helps them with their studies.  Dominic is definitely the star student.  He always does his homework in a timely manner before doing anything else.  He seems pretty eager to learn new things.

Nadia, on the other hand, prefers to talk to her friends on the phone.  She speaks to Megan Alioto about her idea–a tiny, pocket-sized bullet-train.  Megan isn’t quite convinced of its relevance, but gives Nadia the proper kudos for her imagination.

Nettle and Gaeta have two kittens, Rincewind and Twoflower.  With five cats in the house now, it’s become a bit much.  The hallway is almost always cluttered with cats and is sometimes hard to navigate.  The twins are quite enamored with the kittens, though.

Marla thinks that it would be a good idea for Kit to get out and have a vacation.  It’d be nice to getaway with the twins and forget about all her worries.  Kit agrees, but at this moment, it isn’t exactly plausible.  Maybe when the kids are on break from school.

No one asked the maid, but she seems to agree.  Who hasn’t heard about Kit’s trainwreck of a love life?

Marla is still working on her restaurant, though it’s quickly reaching the top.  She hires on a new server, a young teen.  She wears too much makeup and grumbles about the stifling kimono, but she attracts the would-be pedos and asianophiles just fine.

As much as she loves her restaurant, Marla has to admit that maybe she’s getting a bit too old.  She wants to spend time with her grandkids.  Maybe it’s time to retire?  She isn’t sure what to do with the restaurant, though.  She can’t pass it on to Kit, she never had much skill with cooking.  Jennifer, on the other hand, was well on her way.  Maybe she’d want it?

Dominic brings home Deidre O`Hanlon from school one day.  He’s quite enthralled by her strange, black eyes and her pale features.  They talk about their respective houses and families.  It seems they have a lot in common when it comes to crazy family dynamics and large homes.

Nadia doesn’t think Deidre is all that special.  In fact, she thinks she’s a little freaky looking.  What did she have, eye surgery or something?  Who wants all black eyes?

Dominic is quick to defend his new-found friend.  Everyone knows that Deidre’s father, Patrick, is partially alien.  Even Deidre’s brother, Francis, has the black eyes.

Of course, Nadia is unconvinced.  Deidre is not special, she’s weird.

Travis tries to set up his wayward daughter with a doctor friend, but she refuses.  She isn’t really ready to date again.  In fact, she’s not sure if she ever wants to again.  Besides, it’d be difficult to try and introduce a man into the twins’ lives at this point.  She’s just happy being single and working.  It may not be the most social of lives, but at least it’s drama-free.

Note from Mao: Sorry for the kickin’ it old school, recap style of this update.  I’m kind of exhausted and I have a bit of a headache, but I wanted to get this update out so I don’t fall behind, lol.  Nothing too terribly interesting happened at this house.

And yes, Deidre and Dominic are related, they are second cousins.  Unfortunately, Mao has stopped caring.  We’ll see how things go.  There’s still plenty of other options. ;)

  1. I don’t mind the old-school entry. Ouch Nadia. If you had an uncommon feature, you wouldn’t want people calling you weird. She seems a bit high-strung already. At least Kit’s settled down. I laughed aloud when you said you’d stopped caring about family relations. I figured you’d stopped caring with Greg and Lydi.

  2. I actually stopped with Sade and Michael. I tried to keep them apart, didn’t work, LOL! Lydia and Gregory are very distantly related. It’s messed up because while it factors in the half-siblings, Ryu and Shaniqua… it doesn’t account for Alyssa and Florence. Too confusing, LOL!

As for Nadia, she doesn’t want someone stealing her spotlight. ;)

  3. I always have to remind myself that Kit is Knowledge. She doesn’t doesn’t strike me as a Knowledge. Popularity or Romance yes. But then again, some of my Romance sims have Family tencedncies.

Deire and Domnic should hook up. If that’s possible. But if they can and want to you obviesoulyt don’t care. Just no more woody allens.

  4. Kit is is Knowledge/Romance, but even before the secondary designation, she acted like a Romance sim, sigh.

Deirdre and Dominic are not closely related. The game doesn’t even see them as family, so it’s a possibility. I’ve given up on fighting it, I just can’t win. Sigh.

Still cringing over Gordon and Emma. WTF, game?!

  5. I don’t know how you do it, keeping up with all these story lines. Boreal Springs looks really interesting. I’m going to have to do some back reading.

  6. Haha, I will admit, sometimes I forget what’s going on when I take breaks. I mostly just follow sim whims… and then sort of make them “story” friendly. Like Lydia and Gregory’s misunderstanding.

  7. Aw, Nadia, don’t be so mean to Deidre. I guess Nadia just doesn’t like some other girl coming in and taking her brother’s attention. ;)

  8. Can you smell the future rivalry building? Nadia has good genes, Deidre has good genes. Both are extremely outgoing. Which one will be the next BS ‘it’ girl?! Hilarious. ;)

  9. Nadia is very spunky. I like her, she says exactly what she feels. Nadia, Diedre, and Dominic are very cute.

  10. Hehe, Nadia is VERY spunky!

  11. Nadia reminds me a little bit of Sade — she definitely is a Saunders! It looks like Kit might be growing up a bit (finally!).

  12. Kit is getting there, slowly. As for Nadia, she’s a fire-cracker already!

  13. Deirdre is just about the coolest-looking Sim, I have to say. She’s very striking!

Nadia is going to be so much fun as she grows up!

  14. I can’t wait to see her as a teen. :D Nadia is a real, well, something, LOL!

  15. I was about to say Sade and Michael, but I couldn’t remember if that was the issue or the age difference was. Weird, no accounting for Alyssa and Florence? What gives? I swear, your game is so weird.

    Comment by Fini — August 6, 2009 @ 11:05 pm

  16. The game notes it, but it’s a half-relation. Most of the time, people only tie back in a half-sort of way, because of Henry knocking up three different women, lol. But the family tree only accounts for one side when I use the “relationships” thing to check to make sure sims aren’t ridiculously related first.

Michael and Sade are technical cousins of some sort, in a very convoluted way. It essentially failed to matter in the end, LOL!

  17. I’m all caught up with Kit and Claude! Love the story line and characters of these two! I’m going to have to catch up with other story lines here. Excited to see what happens next! And when/if Claude finds out about the twins, how that will be handled.
