Saunders 3 – Round 26: ‘Vacation’

Michael and Sade Saunders are an unlikely couple, but so far they’re probably one of the most stable in the neighborhood.  Grace Saunders has spent most of her life living in the quiet shadows, but as a teen, will she come out of her shell?  Alexander and Charity take a lot after their parents… though likely in ways one wouldn’t anticipate.

The whole brood packs up and heads off on vacation.  Sade, in her zeal to hop into her bikini, forgets to wait for Alexander.  Michael is quick to remind her that maybe she should slow down a little, the island isn’t going anywhere.  Alexander eventually brings up the rear, toting his overstuffed suitcase by dragging it across the ground.  Grace rolls her eyes, wishing her family weren’t so embarrassing.

While Michael is signing them in at the hotel, Sade is exuberant.

“Finally!  I can show off my rockin’ body.  Even after three kids, I’ve still got it!”

Grace looks mortified, “mooom, stop being embarassing!”

“Oh, shush, Grace.  You still have a lot to learn about being truly gorgeous.”

As soon as everything with their accommodations is put to rights, the family hits the beach.  Sade works on her tan while Michael thanks his college art classes for his amazing sand castle making.  Alexander ponders his existence while Charity plots how best to push him into the water.  Grace digs for something to take home.

Sade’s sunbathing pays off–she’s rewarded with a golden sheen that seems to magnify her already present gorgeousness.  She’s thrilled, of course.  If only she could stay this tan year round!

While on the island, the family samples some of the local cuisine.  Even the locals are in awe of Sade’s gorgeous tan.

“Nice tan,” the chef says, setting down her plate.

“I wish I had a tan like yours, mom,” Charity says, despite the fact she was born with a naturally sunkissed tone.

“Some day, sweetie, you can.”

Alexander shows his acumen for giving orders while they visit the pirate ship.  Michael messed with the crank that hoists the Jolly Roger, noting the shoddy workmanship.

“It’s all rusted and creaky.  You’d think they’d have a mechanic at least put some shine on it, maybe some oil.”

Grace, despite being a quiet loner, is quite fit.  She shows off her athleticism by climbing the treacherous looking ladder up to the crow’s nest.  She roars triumphantly when she reaches the top, ignoring the peril and jumping for joy.  Her mother might have a fabulous tan, but Grace has beefy arms.

Michael plunders the captain’s quarters and finds an old ledger.  Grace goes in and finds a ghost, much to her chagrin.  Unfortunately, her beefy arms for no match for a scary pirate ghost.  The ghost turns out to be friendly, though, and teaches them all a silly little shanty about pirates.

Sade’s amazing tan continues to attract attention.  She wants to learn fire dancing, but her instructor is more keen on learning the ways of Sade.

“Nice tan,” he says, giving her a once over.

Michael, who is skulking around in the background, interrupts, “more fire dancing, less leering at my wife, thanks.”

He’s beginning to wish he’d picked a locale that required more coverage.

Charity, in her quest for the Ultimate Tan, instead gets a pretty nasty sunburn.  Grace is unsympathetic to her sibling’s plight.

“You’re too young for an awesome tan, Charity.”

“So says you,” Charity snaps back, trying not to move too quickly.  “You don’t even have a tan!  You’re a pale ghost.”

  1. The Awesome Tan (of course, anything associated with Sade must be capitalized) cracked me up the whole entry. I feel for Michael; at least there’s no ribbon dancing now. My goodness, the kids are growing up to be mini-Sades! I hope the neighborhood can handle it. Okay, I think Grace is my favorite teen right now. I love sims that annoy others just because they can.

  2. As a tan addict, I just about died over this one LOL! Grace is certainly aggressive; maybe she can channel all that aggression into some sort of useful profession like whacking people. Really enjoyed this!

  3. It wasn’t that long, I enjoyed it very much. The tan gag was genius!

  4. But of course! I had way too much fun with that, haha. She’s going to be sos ad when it fades. Michael is going to have his hands full…

  5. LOL! I love mean sims. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a truly mean sim. We’ll see how it goes.

  6. The past few have been lengthy for my standards. We’ll see how the rest of the round goes. Thanks!

  7. Sade you’re the most beautiful girl in the world! Please don’t hurt me! Sorry about, but Sade kinda scares me. She’s a lot different from me and seems like the kind of girl who will get angry if you insult their looks.

    Grace is very pretty.

    Micheal suffers for twu wuv.

  8. Haha, we have yet to see any proof of Sade’s fighting prowess, but Grace had to get it from somewhere! Michael suffers, definitely.

  9. Sade, Michael and their kids are the best. Grace has turned out so pretty! Rather inevitable with those two’s genes, though – it’d be a surprise if she was anything less than gorgeous. This all makes me wish I had BV installed but my computer can barely handle the EPs I’ve already got, something so lagtastic would probably kill it!

  10. It’s true. I almost want them to have MOAR KIDs, but I am resisting. I keep reminding myself of all the sims currently alive in BS, lol. That sucks about the EPs!

  11. I absolutely love Michael and Sade. It is funny that they have the most stable family life in the neighborhood. That is definitely an Awesome Tan, Sade! (My Sims always get sunburned whenever they try to tan.) I would be so tempted to make those two have more kids. The three they have turned out gorgeous. I love Sade’s comment about the world paying you back for spreading your beauty around, LOL! And poor Michael. He’s going to go prematurely gray with Sade and the mini-Sades. ;)

  12. Me, too! I wish they didn’t have to get old. I exported their character files. I don’t know why, it makes me feel better to know I’ll always have them.

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 4:43 pm

  13. Ha, I forgot all about Sade’s interpretative ribbon dancing days! That gave me a giggle.

Charity is a firecracker already and it looks like Grace is more feisty than she appeared to be at first! This house must be insane to play.

  14. It’s actually a lot of fun, LOL!

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 8:51 pm

  15. I didn’t think it was that long and it was pretty damn funny with the Awesome Tan. I did crack up by Michael commenting to Grace about having her clothes on all the time, too funny.

  16. Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes I enjoy a bit of humor. ;)

  17. LOL, Sade! A mom like her, and these girls are going to grow up to have some body image issues! :)

Wow, I just can’t believe they have a teenage daughter already! Where did the time go???

LOL, Grace is awesome! And what a name for her too, lol! She looks like just the perfect combination of both her parents.

  18. I had a mum like Sade, LOL! But Sade is fun and silly. So it’s all good. Grace turned out amazingly well. I can’t wait to see the twins!

  19. “I wish I had a tan like yours, mom,” Charity says, despite the fact she was born with a naturally sunkissed tone.

    “Some day, sweetie, you can.”

I laughed out loud. At work. And I work in the library. It was not setting a very good example, but it made me laugh even harder, which made my day. Great update.

  20. Hehe! Sorry about that. This entry was a lot of fun to write.

  21. This family is such a trip, the kids have just as much personality as their parents and are just too funny. Leave it to Michael to be a total wet blanket on vacation, wearing black long sleeves on the beach and everything. Grace is a total firecracker I can’t wait to see her out on her own at uni. I agree with Alex about the babies; I wish you would let them have another baby Mao!!!!

    Comment by Liz — August 11, 2009 @ 4:56 pm

  22. I really love playing them! They are definitely a favorite. I know people usually change sim clothes for vacations, but its annoying to me, so I don’t. And of course Michael would walk around wearing black. He is still Gordon’s son, LOL!

    Comment by Mao — August 20, 2009 @ 12:22 pm

  23. Perfect tan! Great little family vacation, their quippy remarks cracked me up.
