Saunders 3 – Round 26: ‘Vacation’

Charity and Alexander start out roasting marshmallows, but it devolves into an epic duel of the gooey-tipped sticks.  It ends, as anything named as such, could possibly end–messy and sticky, but Charity and Alexander are amused.  Michael isn’t, especially when Sade yells at him for letting them get marshmallows in their hair.

Michael and Sade still manage to get some alone time in, between all the sightseeing and observing of local culture.  The beach is especially conductive to the romantic mood, helped along surely by Sade’s Awesome Tan.

“I think that UFO is using light signals to tell me how good my tan looks.”

Michael sighs, “that’s not a UFO, Sade.”

Unfortunately, Sade’s preoccupation with her own attractiveness never fails to put a damper on the mood.

Grace gives her parents some time to explore the island and watches the twins.  She works on her acquisition of her own Awesome Tan while the twins discuss their amazing grades and intellectual capabilities.  It’s obvious they’ve inherited their mother’s rampant narcissism.

Alexander lets his parents know that he’s quite obsessed with babies, even though he’s small.  It’s all he’ll talk about, much to their chagrin.  Sade really isn’t up to popping out anymore kids and Michael is starting to find gray hairs.  Neither is conductive to the production of another child.  Still, Alexander persists.

“I mean, I’m not saying I need another sibling, but babies are nice.”

“Wouldn’t you rather think about something else, Alex?” Sade said, worried.  “Like, maybe, hair products?”

“They’re not very baby-friendly, mom,” Alexander chides.  “Stay on topic.”

Michael sighs.

Grace acquires her own Awesome Tan.  It’s so awesome, in fact, that she’s certain it’s much better looking than Sade’s.  Let’s see Charity call her ‘ghost girl’ now.  She eats her pancakes in quiet triumph.

Grace’s day gets even better when she finds this crazy guy in the island wilderness.  Sade bears witness to her daughter’s first gift.  She’s quite proud.

“See, sweetie, being gorgeous means people give you things.  It’s like the world paying you back for spreading your beauty around for all to see.”

“With your clothes on,” Michael adds in, giving Sade a look.  “All of them.  On.  All of the time.”

“I don’t know, I got a lot of gifts during my interpretative ribbon dancing days…”

Grace is intrigued, “really?”

Michael doesn’t know why he bothers.

The family leaves refreshed and rejuvenated.  Sade is certain that her Awesome Tan will gain her even more friends when she gets back to Boreal Springs.  Michael is just happy to be going back to the land of wearing clothing.  Charity’s sunburn has lessened, thankfully, so she can doze undisturbed on the airplane ride back.  Alexander and Grace both are lagging behind, too busy arguing over whether or not natural tans or Awesome Tans are better.

Grace shows off her awesome tan, much to poor Fujin Yu’s chagrin.  Grace is quite strong for a girl and her noogie-giving skills are not to be questioned.  Fujin Yu is older, but that doesn’t make him a match for Grace.  She’s still a loner, but she’s taken to showing her… opinions in a very special way.

With noogies.

Note from Mao: Holy crap, Grace is scary!  The quiet little girl became feisty.  Her immediate reaction to anyone she just meets is to poke and antagonize them if noogie giving isn’t an option.  Color me surprised.  She has nice points, just not many.  It’s hilarious!

Patrick and Viola autonomously visited (they are neighbors) and Grace went to work on her Aunt without skipping a beat.

She gives her siblings noogies regularly.  Just check out that mean face!  Behold Grace Saunders, Queen of Noogies.  We may have a fighter on our hands here, folks.

Sorry this one is so long.  I had too much fun taking vacation pictures, it’s been awhile since my sims had a nice holiday.  The commentary on this one wasn’t very story-oriented due to, well, the lack of story.  But I couldn’t resist the Sade’s tan gag.  I had more pictures of sims checking her out, but felt it flowed better this way.

  1. The Awesome Tan (of course, anything associated with Sade must be capitalized) cracked me up the whole entry. I feel for Michael; at least there’s no ribbon dancing now. My goodness, the kids are growing up to be mini-Sades! I hope the neighborhood can handle it. Okay, I think Grace is my favorite teen right now. I love sims that annoy others just because they can.

  2. As a tan addict, I just about died over this one LOL! Grace is certainly aggressive; maybe she can channel all that aggression into some sort of useful profession like whacking people. Really enjoyed this!

  3. It wasn’t that long, I enjoyed it very much. The tan gag was genius!

  4. But of course! I had way too much fun with that, haha. She’s going to be sos ad when it fades. Michael is going to have his hands full…

  5. LOL! I love mean sims. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a truly mean sim. We’ll see how it goes.

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 10:31 am

  6. The past few have been lengthy for my standards. We’ll see how the rest of the round goes. Thanks!

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 10:33 am

  7. Sade you’re the most beautiful girl in the world! Please don’t hurt me! Sorry about, but Sade kinda scares me. She’s a lot different from me and seems like the kind of girl who will get angry if you insult their looks.

    Grace is very pretty.

    Micheal suffers for twu wuv.

    Comment by Victoria — August 6, 2009 @ 11:50 am

  8. Haha, we have yet to see any proof of Sade’s fighting prowess, but Grace had to get it from somewhere! Michael suffers, definitely.

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 12:50 pm

  9. Sade, Michael and their kids are the best. Grace has turned out so pretty! Rather inevitable with those two’s genes, though – it’d be a surprise if she was anything less than gorgeous. This all makes me wish I had BV installed but my computer can barely handle the EPs I’ve already got, something so lagtastic would probably kill it!

    Comment by Zoë — August 6, 2009 @ 2:13 pm

  10. It’s true. I almost want them to have MOAR KIDs, but I am resisting. I keep reminding myself of all the sims currently alive in BS, lol. That sucks about the EPs!

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 3:38 pm

  11. I absolutely love Michael and Sade. It is funny that they have the most stable family life in the neighborhood. That is definitely an Awesome Tan, Sade! (My Sims always get sunburned whenever they try to tan.) I would be so tempted to make those two have more kids. The three they have turned out gorgeous. I love Sade’s comment about the world paying you back for spreading your beauty around, LOL! And poor Michael. He’s going to go prematurely gray with Sade and the mini-Sades. ;)

    Comment by Shana — August 6, 2009 @ 4:11 pm

  12. Me, too! I wish they didn’t have to get old. I exported their character files. I don’t know why, it makes me feel better to know I’ll always have them.

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 4:43 pm

  13. Ha, I forgot all about Sade’s interpretative ribbon dancing days! That gave me a giggle.

Charity is a firecracker already and it looks like Grace is more feisty than she appeared to be at first! This house must be insane to play.

  14. It’s actually a lot of fun, LOL!

    Comment by Mao — August 6, 2009 @ 8:51 pm

  15. I didn’t think it was that long and it was pretty damn funny with the Awesome Tan. I did crack up by Michael commenting to Grace about having her clothes on all the time, too funny.

    Comment by Wildchild453 — August 7, 2009 @ 12:55 pm

  16. Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes I enjoy a bit of humor. ;)

    Comment by Mao — August 7, 2009 @ 2:15 pm

  17. LOL, Sade! A mom like her, and these girls are going to grow up to have some body image issues! :)

Wow, I just can’t believe they have a teenage daughter already! Where did the time go???

LOL, Grace is awesome! And what a name for her too, lol! She looks like just the perfect combination of both her parents.

    Comment by laura — August 8, 2009 @ 10:53 am

  18. I had a mum like Sade, LOL! But Sade is fun and silly. So it’s all good. Grace turned out amazingly well. I can’t wait to see the twins!

    Comment by Mao — August 8, 2009 @ 11:28 am

  19. “I wish I had a tan like yours, mom,” Charity says, despite the fact she was born with a naturally sunkissed tone.

    “Some day, sweetie, you can.”

I laughed out loud. At work. And I work in the library. It was not setting a very good example, but it made me laugh even harder, which made my day. Great update.

    Comment by Shannon — August 8, 2009 @ 12:50 pm

  20. Hehe! Sorry about that. This entry was a lot of fun to write.

    Comment by Mao — August 8, 2009 @ 2:45 pm

  21. This family is such a trip, the kids have just as much personality as their parents and are just too funny. Leave it to Michael to be a total wet blanket on vacation, wearing black long sleeves on the beach and everything. Grace is a total firecracker I can’t wait to see her out on her own at uni. I agree with Alex about the babies; I wish you would let them have another baby Mao!!!!

    Comment by Liz — August 11, 2009 @ 4:56 pm

  22. I really love playing them! They are definitely a favorite. I know people usually change sim clothes for vacations, but its annoying to me, so I don’t. And of course Michael would walk around wearing black. He is still Gordon’s son, LOL!

    Comment by Mao — August 20, 2009 @ 12:22 pm

  23. Perfect tan! Great little family vacation, their quippy remarks cracked me up.
