Anderson 4 – Round 19: ‘Blood Money, End’

Roman is intent on succeeding where his grandfather Thomas failed, but can he balance home and work or will he end up in the same way?  Cara enjoys her privileged life, but temptation is a difficult thing to resist…

Cara sat on the couch, bored.  She hadn’t felt well enough to go with Roman, who went to oversee the Grocery store progress.  She also found herself missing work at the magazine, which was frustrating.  How was she going to rise up the ranks if she kept calling off?  But she just didn’t feel well enough to go in.  She couldn’t concentrate on anything.

A visit to the doctor confirmed she was pregnant.  Cara went from being annoyed to pleased–she had wanted a baby for quite some time now and had finally convinced Roman it was the ‘right’ time.  Of course, Roman’s motivations weren’t quite as ‘sweet’ as Cara’s.  He was thinking about an heir which he could train to take his place and keep the family name out of the dirt.

Either way, both were quite happy with the news.

Roman’s happiness wasn’t to last, however.  He found out from one of his sources that Gordon may not have executed the plan the way that Roman had desired.  Lacie Anderson wasn’t dead, she was simply… removed from Boreal Springs.

This wasn’t good.  Gordon had openly slighted Roman, probably to show his superiority.  Roman kept his anger on a tight leash until he could be alone to properly vent it.  Gordon would get his for this, that much was certain…

Cara was too concerned with her ever-expanding waistline to notice her husband was skulking around like a common criminal.  Would she ever get her shape back?  She couldn’t go on television looking like this!  She called up a nutritionist and a personal trainer to ask for their advice and to accrue their services.

She wanted a baby, yes, but she certainly didn’t want to compromise her ambitions!

She had heard that women often ‘glowed’ when they were pregnant.  Cara certainly didn’t feel radiant and she sure didn’t feel glamorous, either.  Their cat, Adama, seemed to agree as she lounged on the couch and brusquely rubbed her nose with the back of her hand.

Finally, Gregory Anderson came into the world.  Cara was happy to have a little baby to hold and to also have her stomach back to a normal size.  He definitely looked like his mother, a distinguishing look to separate him from the other Andersons.

Note from Mao: I knew he wouldn’t get Roman’s eyes, but I was hoping.  I adore Janine’s eyes.  More sims need to have them, dang it!

Yu 3 – Round 18: ‘Polyamorous, Pt. 7′

Shang Yu is happily divorced and has drug his long-time-lover Katarina Anderson and his 2nd son, James, along with him to his new home in Downtown.

Despite their difference in age, Shang and Katarina had always gotten along famously. They even understood one another to the point of neither so much as blinking an eye at the other’s indiscretions. Granted, Shang took the cake when it came to things like that, but Katarina was no angel herself.

Now they were together in an ‘open’ relationship. Shang was home from his tour for awhile and Katarina spent a lot of time helping him tweak certain songs.

“Tweak that one a bit, babe,” he said, strumming lightly, listening. “A little more, that should do it.”

Shang was well-known for his exploits with women and while most men of his ilk were horrible fathers, Shang was not. He cared deeply for both of his sons and made sure that they were taken care of. Hugh knew of his father’s ways and wasn’t dismayed when he saw him out with women, but James had quite awhile to go before he’d be able to understand.

Of course, with Hugh, it was easy. It was only his father, not both of his parents. Poor little James…

Cara Anderson came by to interview him for one of her columns–she was working her way up in the media–and he had to admit, that prim-and-proper bit was hot. He knew she was very married to Roman Anderson, but what could he say? Those Anderson women, he had a weakness!

He made a few little jokes and did his usual bit with the charm. He was surprised when she almost seemed responsive, but then suddenly, she drew away. Oh, this would be fun… even Kat would get a kick out of this!

James became a child and looked quite a bit like his father, though he certainly looked more like a Yu than anything. He had his father’s charm and seemed to be rather easy-going. Only time would tell if he turned out anything like his parents or not…

Shang and Lacie had a bit of an affair in the hottub and even while she was pregnant, Shang continued to charm her. He didn’t much like to hear her talk, but she couldn’t deny that she was smokin’ hot. He kind of pitied Nevio, though. He was Kat’s brother and well, he wasn’t a bad guy… just not too bright.

No one in their right mind would mess around with Lacie on a serious level. That woman should have been born with green eyes!

Being Downtown had definitely helped Katarina’s career. She was at the top of the party scene now–there wasn’t a huge event that she wasn’t invited to. Of course, she made sure she still had time for James. She was usually gone while he was asleep, anyway. She spent a better part of the day with him, helping him with his homework, and trying to embrace her maternal instincts.

James brought his Uncle Marcus home from school one day. He was quite surprised to find out that his friend was technically his uncle.

“It’s true, you know,” Marcus said in a sagely tone. “I’m technically your mother’s half-brother.”

“That’s… just weird.” James remarked, making a face.

Marcus laughed, “have you met your older brother yet? He’s technically my cousin!”

————–

Note from Mao: Man, talk about twisted family trees! Poor James, I worry for his future. This house needs revolving doors. One scene I laughed too hard at to get a picture of was Katarina teaching James to do his homework near the stairs and front door. Two women came up in their underwear and immediately went to leave. Seconds later, Shang comes walking up the stairs in his underwear and makes a whistle motion at Katarina while walking by.

Anderson 4 – Round 18: ‘Blood Money, Pt. 3′

Roman Anderson is becoming quite a powerful man, can Cara keep up?

With the success of his last business and the deeds to lots in both Aperture and Boreal Springs in his hands, Roman opened another business. It was a simple grocery store nestled in Boreal Springs. It was a success and Roman hired on a young woman who desperately wanted to be close to Boreal Springs. Why he didn’t know or care, but she proved to be a good worker, albiet unskilled.

One evening, during dinner, Cara decided to question her husband. She had seen him acting oddly and skulking about, she even had others tell her about it. She didn’t think he was the type to have an affair, but what else could he be doing?

“It’s business,” Roman said sternly, “that’s it. Who is filling your head with this garbage?”

Cara shrugged meekly, “I… I wasn’t trying to imply anything, Roman, I was just worried.”

“Well don’t,” he snapped, angry that others had been talking and not quite pleased as his wife’s distrust. “Why would I sully the name I’m trying to restore? Honestly, Cara, sometimes I wonder where your brain is.”

Cara frowned and stared down at her plate, ashamed. She should have known better. Perhaps she was projecting her own thoughts onto Roman…

Katarina stopped by one day to thank her younger brother for the awesome pad he had hooked her and Shang up with in the heart of downtown. Roman wasn’t fond of his sister’s ways, but she was his sister, and despite herself, she had a brain.

“You shouldn’t thank me, Katarina,” Roman replied, showing a rare bout of humility. “It was Tsung Yu’s design and Gordon Saunders that made it truly possible.”

“Well, whatever, you had a hand in it someway, so thanks. I know how you feel about Shang, and with Nevio marrying Lacie–”

Roman laughed, “it’s fine, don’t worry about it…”

Roman’s luck wasn’t all good, one night, while they were asleep in their lavish bedroom… a burglar broke in. Fortunately, Roman had the foresight to install an extensive security system. The police were called to the scene before the striped fiend could make off with anything. Unfortunately for that burglar, that particular cop was also in Gordon Saunders’ pocket… and well, you don’t mess with someone under his protection.

There were definitely perks to working with criminals…

Cara enjoyed throwing parties, epsecially those that involved the other ladies from Boreal Springs. Alyssa frequented these and Roman pulled her aside one afternoon to tell her of his plan.

“Lacie won’t be a problem for much longer,” he confided.

Alyssa gave him a look, “what are you saying, Roman? She’s pregnant!”

“The baby will be fine, mother. Just trust me–I’ve taken care of it.”

Alyssa shuddered, remembering the propaganda involving her mother all those years ago… something in the back of her mind shouted for her to take notice, but she ignored it.

Cara, meanwhile, was having lunch with one of her guests. River Saunders was an interesting type of girl, not particularly feminine, but incredibly keen. Cara grilled her on sciences and her studies at university.

While she enjoyed all the guests she invited, Cara had to admit, she didn’t get along very well with Lacie. She really didn’t like Lacie’s blatant flirting with her husband or her attitude.

Note from Mao: The blonde in the first picture is important for a reason you will find out later. ;) Katarina is like Shang, she constantly drops by uninvited. It’s insane.

O`Hanlon – Round 18: ‘Anxiety, Pt. 2′

Mary O`Hanlon has lost her husband and love, Derek, but continues on for the sake of her children and grandchildren. Gina Saunders’ time is coming to a close, a painful fact being that she outlasted her twin, Shaniqua. Julie and Asia are feeling some tensions, but of a different sort.

Gina wasn’t quite sure how to feel about the fact that she had survived her twin, Shaniqua. They hadn’t been terribly close in their final years, this much was true, too busy with their separate lives… but the bond was always there. Gina looked at one of her old novels, examining the cover with careful scrutiny.

She had led a good life, even if she had no children nor love to speak of. She regretted nothing.

Meanwhile, Julie was feeling the urge to get out of the house. She could also tell Asia was feeling a little down. Both of them getting out and about would likely lighten the mood and so Julie suggested they go downtown and visit Marla’s new restaraunt. Asia was dubious.

“But what about Timothy?”

“I’ll take care of him,” Gina called from the sink, splashing a bit of water on Timothy and causing him to giggle. “Mary will be home soon, too. You two go have fun.”

After their dinner at Exotic Dining (where Marla was much too busy running around to have a chat with her twin), Asia felt relieved enough to go home. Julie, however, had other ideas. She drug Asia to a nearby club. It took a few drinks, but Julie finally got Asia to agree to go into the photobooth. Of course, Julie’s ideas differed significantly from what Asia had expected… not that either begrudged this.

Meanwhile, Mary and Gina were more than happy to care for James while his mothers went out and blew off some steam. Mary and Gina had been close since college, but the loss of Derek had brought them even closer together. They spent a lot of time discussing the old days and spoiling little Timothy.

Sometime after their little sojourn downtown, Julie began to feel ill. It was eeriely similar to when she found out she was pregnant before, but that wasn’t possible. The treatments had ended and therefore, she should be in the safe and clear.

“I don’t know what to tell you, Julie,” Mary said from the sink, focusing on bathing Timothy. Soon, he’d be a toddler. “Maybe you should call and ask.”

Julie frowned, “I really don’t want to be pregnant again…”

Anderson 4 – Round 17: ‘Blood Money, Pt. 1′

Roman Anderson is determined to make his family rue the day he wasn’t chosen as Heir. Cara is just happy to be rid of grass skirts and steel drum music.

Roman and Cara had quite a large wedding, one of the larger ones that’s occurred in all of Boreal Springs. Regardless, Lacie Anderson wasn’t impressed. She was beginning to realize that perhaps she had chosen the wrong sibling to seduce. Roman may think himself impenetrable to her charms, but only time would tell.

Roman’s parents, meanwhile, were more than pleased with the union. At least one of their son’s had the foresight to pick a suitable wife and not manage to knock her up prior to getting her to the altar. Despite the tensions swirling around the hood, the wedding went off without a hitch. The newlyweds decided to postpone their honeymoon until it was more appropriate. Right now, they had jobs to get to.

Roman was more than pleased with his choice. Cara cleaned up very well, just as he knew she would. She was humble, too, and dressed appropriately. She had a keen mind and seemingly no desire to overindulge herself in the wealth that was to be theirs. This was all very well. He wouldn’t have to worry about her interfering at all.

In fact, she helped him achieve his goals and was more than supportive. She did her best to aid him with his business endeavors and was a quick study. Soon she was bossing employees around like a natural and keeping track of every little green and red mark on the books. She had her own desires, though. She wanted desperately to take Gina Saunders’ position as the face of Boreal Spring’s media. Only, Cara wanted to be a news anchor. She certainly had the looks, she just needed to work on her charisma.

This gave Roman plenty of freedom to build up his… other contacts. He was related to Gordon Saunders, but it wasn’t a relation that was really recognized by either side. Janine Saunders was Roman’s grandmother, but she was Gordon’s mother. Roman was an Anderson and therefore, Gordon didn’t really care much to talk to him. So Roman had to go through the lower echelons. He was surprised when one of the contacts turned out to be a very pale woman prone to dramatic, sweeping gesticulations and a bit of a lisp.

She wasn’t very helpful, but Roman wasn’t about to give up. Gordon was the answer to his biggest problem and he was determined to reach him.

Cara took no notice to her husband’s odd habits and instead enjoyed the friendship of another islander turned resident, Tracey Yu. While Tracey kept the part about being married to a criminal, she couldn’t hide the fact that she was married to Cara’s technical father-in-law. They didn’t bother acknowledging the legal relation, though, instead becoming jogging buddies and just casual friends.

It was nice to have another islander, but Cara was a little too serious for Tracey.

Roman wasted no time reaching his goal. He was keen to take over Boreal Spring’s real estate matters. The government had been handling it, but now with Aperture and Boreal Springs growing in size, it required a more closely invested handler. Roman was more than happy to take the responsibility. He was also working on getting his second business off the ground.

He continued looking for Gordon, but he figured that with all the wealth he was amassing, he was sure to run into him somehow. He had heard Gordon didn’t like it when people not under his thumb started getting filthy rich…

———–

Note from Mao: Okay, Cara is gorgeous. Wow. I had no idea she was that pretty. She is like, the perfect trophy wife LOL. Roman is insane. He reached his LTW faster than anyone else in Boreal Springs ever has. Sheesh! Also, Roman wanting to talk to Gordon comes from him stalking him on a community lot. I saw him doing this while I was playing another family. Makes sense, given Roman’s ambitions…

Also, Cara’s formalwear was messed up for some reason. She couldn’t choose any of the dresses I bought for her. Weird.

B.S.U. Campus – Round 16: ‘Heir Trouble, End’

Roman Anderson is trying to keep his family name from dropping below its faculties, but his twin, Nevio, isn’t helping any.  To make matters worse, Laci’s plan seems to have worked.

Laci did her best to hide her happiness.  Her plan had worked, not that she had ever doubted herself for a single second.  Nevio didn’t have the same intelligence or cautious nature his brother did and so it was only a matter of time before all their fooling around got them into trouble.  Laci had him right where she wanted him, that money would be hers.

“Are you sure?” Nevio replied, shocked.  His face was nearly as white as his shirt.

“Yes, of course.  I even took two tests and I’ve already scheduled the visit.”

Nevio swallowed, unable to think of a fitting response.  This was not good at all.

As any son would do in a situation like this, Nevio phoned his mother immediately.  Alyssa made the drive as soon as she was able and met with her very anxious son.  She knew what her father, Thomas, would do in this situation… but Alyssa wasn’t Thomas.  She sighed and with a heavy heart, said:

“She can’t stay here, Nevio.  College is no place for a pregnant girl.  She’ll come home with me and then you’ll marry as soon as you finish the accelerated program they offer.  You’re a senior, it won’t be that difficult.”

“B-But, mom–”

“No buts, Nevio.  You can’t just cast her out on the street.  You have to make this right…”

“This is preposterous, mother!” Roman raged, unable to contain himself.  “You’re giving Laci exactly what she wants, she wants the money!  That’s the only reason she allowed herself to get knocked up in the first place.  That lustful skank will bleed you dry!”

“Roman Anderson!” Alyssa scolded, arms folded over her chest.  “I did not raise you to speak like that.  Regardless as to what Laci is or is not, it no longer matters.  She’s now carrying my grandchild.  I will do what I must to ensure that poor thing’s future.  Surely you can understand…”

“No, I can’t,” Roman snapped, turning away from her.  “You’re making a mistake, mother, a very big mistake.  You’ll lose everything.”

Despite Roman’s protests, Alyssa and Nevio went through the motions.  Nevio proposed and Laci was suitably pleased.  She packed up all her belongings and put them in the car with Alyssa.  She had no qualms about quitting University.  It wasn’t like she’d actually need an education–Laci didn’t even plan to work.  There was absolutely no reason to!

Alyssa knew that Roman was right, but she couldn’t bring herself to cast the baby aside.  If anything, it could be saved.

Roman, fueled by his anger, bought a community lot within Boreal Springs and opened it to the public.  It was the end of his senior year and he had plenty of time to devote to it.  With his careful management and financial savvy, it climbed the ranks.  The once lowly general store was now a pivotal business within the small suburb.  Even Mary O`Hanlon came by to congratulate him on his endeavor

A reviewer from Aperture stopped by and was pleased enough to give Roman an award for service and reliability.  Of course, Shang Yu was passing by at the time and more than happy to give his two cents.

“Congrats, dude, and hey, she’s hot!”

Roman rolled his eyes and accepted the award.  He was sure to hang it over the door so that everyone who entered would see it.

With his business ventures begun, it was time for the next thing on his list.  He had kept in contact with Cara Nanale and they had built a relationship, though hardly to the extent of his brother’s.  He proposed to her with the intent of marrying her as soon as the house he had bought was built enough to be a suitable home to the two of them.  Cara was beyond overwhelmed, but certainly happy.  She’d be off the islands and Roman seemed to be very kind and respectful.  Not once had he tried to cross any lines and Cara could wear a white dress with pride.

Of course, she had no idea that Roman was simply protecting his own interests in doing so.  There would be no bastard children to take his wealth, that much was certain.

——–

Note from Mao: Laci’s pregnancy threw me for a loop!  Never have I had YAs get pregnant so easily.  Yikes.  I think I fixed my community lots, which is good.  I really missed having them!!  Roman’s business is almost rank 10 already, haha.  As for Cara, he had a want to get engaged, but never rolled any woohoo wants.  Fortune sims, haha, what are you gonna do?

B.S.U. Campus – Round 15: ‘Heir Trouble, Pt. 2′

Roman Anderson was Thomas’ intended heir, but died before he could put it to paper. So, now the irresponsible Nevio and his gold-digging girlfriend are privy to the Anderson fortune. Will Roman be able to help his brother or will Nevio dig his own grave?

The three settled into the house as easily as any other. It was a bit small and meager for Roman’s tastes but neither Nevio or Laci seemed to mind. Perhaps what bothered Roman most was Laci herself. She was so obviously in it just for the money. The fact that Nevio didn’t see that or didn’t care was just indicative of his own instability. Roman wished dearly Thomas had the chance to pen his name as heir.

With Nevio in the position, it was likely they would be paupers in less than a year’s time.

The first act of unnecessary excess was the trip to the islands. Nevio insisted that he needed a break, that all the academic pressure was getting to him. At this, Roman rolled his eyes. Pressure? Where? The professors were terrified of giving him anything below a ‘B’ and his work certainly warranted much less. Roman wouldn’t even go into what Laci did to pass. All he could do is shake his head–Nevio had full control of the money now.

Letting his brother to his own devices, Roman went off on his own. It was then that he met up with a very intriguing islander. He had heard rumors ever since Tracey Saunders joined Boreal Springs; that a lot of the islanders hated being stuck on an overrun tourist trap and sought homes elsewhere. Cara Nanale was certainly one of those people. She even refused traditional dress!

She was shy and quiet, though, and made no wicked plans in her head for escape. It was only by chance she happened to cross Roman’s path and catch his eyes. She had a rather plain beauty about her.

Prompted by his frequent meetings with Cara, Roman decided to have a talk with Nevio. The vacation would soon be winding to a close and Roman hadn’t seen one act of restraint on Nevio’s part.

“What, suddenly you don’t think I’m a good heir?”

“Nevio, you know it isn’t that. But you’re making a bad first impression with Laci. Can’t you see what she’s after?”

Nevio shrugged, “so what? It isn’t like I’m going to marry her.”

“That’s even worse, you idiot! She’s going to trap you and then what? You’re so careless you’ll fall easily into the trap. I swear, Nevio, I think mother dropped you on your head too many times! Can’t you look past your own issues and see what you’re doing to our family?”

“Whatever, Roman,” Nevio said, sliding off his chair. “It isn’t like I have to listen to you anymore, anyway.”

Meanwhile, Laci was enjoying the excesses that dating Nevio Anderson provided. So far, her plan was working great. Nevio thought they were just messing around–casual girlfriend and boyfriend. They were being careful, but not careful enough. Sooner or later, it would happen and she’d have him right where she wanted him. Laci wasn’t terribly interested in children, but one would be worth nailing Nevio’s hand down. She wanted that money and no one, not even Roman, would stand in her way.

While it may have seemed Roman was preoccupied with Cara, he wasn’t. His brother’s problems and the family’s jeopardy were always forefront in his mind. In fact, that’s why he paid attention to Cara. She had the right sort of mindset to be a worthy wife of someone with money. She didn’t seem to be easily impressed by material wealth and her willingness to please those around her was more than suitable.

Roman had entertained thoughts of introducing her to Nevio, but soon found he couldn’t put her through that. He wasn’t completely heartless.

On the last day of their vacation, Roman caught Laci away from Nevio. He wasted no time letting her know that he was onto her and he would do everything in his power to keep her from screwing the family over.

“Oh, don’t be stupid, Roman,” she smiled pleasantly, “we both know who has power here. You can’t threaten me.”

“Don’t get cute with me, Laci, it won’t work. I will find a way to excise you much like the tumor you are.”

She moved closer, looking at him through her eyelashes, “why must you be so cruel? Can’t you see what a… nice… arrangement this could come to be?”

“You’re disgusting.” Roman fumed, pushing past her.

She laughed, watching him stalk off, “but I’m winning, aren’t I?”

———

Note from Mao: Roman and Laci are the type that have two bolts but do not get along at all. It’s hilarious watching them tear into one another. Poor Nevio is such a dolt. As for Cara… all I did were cosmetic changes. I’ve done this to a few townies, to remove their defaults/etc. I don’t know what their aspirations/etc are. Somehow, I messed up Cara’s default outfit. Woops, lol. But the only thing tampered with were her skintone and eyes. That’s all! I am really hoping she’s not another Romance sim.
