Anderson 5 – Round 27: ‘Hysteria’

James Anderson and Maggie O`Hanlon have an easy relationship, it’s just a shame that it’s sort of put a bit of a clamp on James’ friendship with Maggie’s older brother, Timothy; especially now that she’s pregnant.  Katarina Anderson is still alive and kicking, but for how much longer?

“So,” Katarina began, looking Maggie dead in the eye.  “This is actually my son’s, right?  I mean, I’m not sure if we can do the baby switcheroo again.”

Maggie blinked, unsure of what to say, “I… what… what kind of question is that?  Of course it is!”

“Just checking.  You think it’s abnormal until it actually happens, then it’s an everyday concern.”

“…that’s just insane.  What’s wrong with you?”

Katarina smiled, all teeth, “too much to name.  When you’ve lived as long as I have, you’ve seen it all!”

Maggie had been concerned about telling James, but she shouldn’t have been.  They may not have been married,  but he couldn’t have been happier.  Not only could he be completely certain the baby was actually his this time, but he couldn’t think of a better person to have a family with.  Given that his parents had never married, James and Maggie were in no rush.  They didn’t want to run off and get married just because of the baby.

Things around the apartment mostly revolved around Maggie’s pregnancy.  She was off work on maternity leave and so far along she was waddling around more than actually walking.  Katarina had no desire to pander to a pregnant woman.  She’d done it and she’d been pregnant with a married guy’s baby!

“Hey, you know what pregnant women don’t make?  Good windows.  You’re blocking the TV!”

James sighed, “mom, seriously, be nice.”

“This is nice.  Refuse to move and you’ll see mean!  When you’re old like me, your shows are everything!”

Timothy finally made his way over after promising Isolde, on his dead mother’s grave, that he wouldn’t pulverize the father of his sister’s baby.  Maggie was happy to see her brother after so long, but a little anxious about his reunion with James.  James seemed to share her feelings.

“Before you start throwing punches–”

Timothy interrupted him, “I’m not going to hit you, I promised Isolde I wouldn’t.  It’s the only way she’d let me leave!  That witchy stuff is serious business.”

Maggie took a deep breath, “then does that mean you’re not mad?”

“Oh, I’m still plenty mad, Mags.  Mostly because you didn’t tell me and I had to find out by accident!”

Maggie, unable to come up with a response and feeling a little guilty, made her exit, “um, I’ll be over here…”

“And you, dude, not cool.  You knocked up my baby sister.  Do you remember when we were teens?  Yeah, she was a kid.  Gross, huh?”  Timothy said, shaking his head.  “But what’s done is done, I guess.  Just know, you hurt my sister?  I’ll turn you into whale bait.  They’ll need your dental records to identify the mangled corpse.”

James cringed, “pleasant, Timothy.  I’m so glad you’re willing to let bygones be bygones.”

“Yeah, I’m real generous like that,” he said, making a motion with his two fingers, pointing to his own eyes and then at James.  “She’s my baby sister, dude.  Remember that.”

Of course, no sooner had the threat of Timothy’s fist left their minds, Katarina had to add extra weight.  While she’d never done the whole marriage thing herself, she was curious about their dedication to doing this ‘cohabitation thing’, especially since neither of them planned on keeping things open.

“I just don’t see the point.  Why not just run off and get hitched like all the other normal people?”

Maggie shrugged, “it’ll happen when it feels right.  There’s no standardization, no law that says people with kids have to get married.”

“Psh, should be.  Separate the weak from the strong.  You don’t know strength ’til you walk in on your boyfriend with three chicks, all covered in Jell-O.”

Maggie, rendered speechless, just gaped at her.

“I mean, of course I got in on that, I love a good Jell-O romp, but still…”

Baby Katherine O`Hanlon entered the world with little trouble.  Maggie’s due date came and they went to the hospital as they’d worked out.  When they returned, Maggie tried working from home, making sure to keep Katherine close by at all times.  Katarina, surprisingly, was a big help with the newborn.

Of course, no one spent more time with Baby Katherine than James.  He couldn’t have been happier.  In fact, all his thoughts revolved around her and other baby things.  Maggie just shook her head anytime he gave her ‘that look’.  One little accident was enough for her.  She loved Katherine, but the whole baby thing had really thrown her for a loop.

Of course, with birth often comes death.  Katarina was sitting in the living area with baby Katherine, watching her shows, when she dozed off.  She never woke up.  Maggie came downstairs after her shower to find Katarina stone cold on the couch, baby Katherine slumbering quietly in her chair.  She took the baby upstairs, called 911, and then James.  It was not a pretty situation, he came home immediately from work, completely torn up.  He’d always been insanely close with his mother.

Time went on and James channeled his sadness into playing with Katherine.  Maggie busied herself redoing the apartment, tired of the old, drab furnishings and wallpaper.  They’d gotten the apartment from one of Katarina’s rich flings and his stuff had been there.  Now it was in a moving truck, replaced with items more fitting of the family that now resided there.

————————-

Notes from Mao: Awww, poor Katarina!  You will be missed, you lived a long, crazy life.  I’m sure Shang is waiting in the afterlife hottub for you.

James was really torn up by Katarina’s passing, constantly stopping what he was doing and crying.  I haven’t had a sim grieve this bad in awhile!  Even poor Katherine was sad about her grandma’s passing.

The picture below is hilarious because both James and Katherine are crying over Katarina’s demise while Maggie looks frustrated that their cries are disrupting her game, LOL!

I’m waiting for Maggie or James to spin up a want to get married before I do anything.  I like having some non-married couples.  My parents never got married, LOL!  James immediately rolled a want for a baby when Katherine aged, but uh, yeah.  Population control!

How awesome is it that Katherine got Jun Yu’s eyes AND skintone, though??  Woo!

Normally this is where we’d move on to Uni, but we have a new lotsto play!  Emma and Jennifer’s before Uni!

Anderson 5 – Round 26: ‘Borderline’

James Anderson seems to have recovered from Kit Knight’s betrayal with the help of Maggie O`Hanlon.  Unfortunately, dating your best friend’s younger sister is tricky business.  Katarina just hopes this one isn’t as messed up in the head as Kit.

James and Maggie’s relationship began rather abruptly, but despite that, they seemed to make it work.  There was one small hitch though, Maggie’s older brother, Timothy, didn’t know.  He wouldn’t look too kindly on James “taking advantage” of his younger sister, not at all.  So they had to keep their relationship quiet, which was rather easy, because Timothy rarely came into Aperture.

Katarina didn’t seem to mind the change in the house.  She knew Maggie had a thing for James, anyway, and that it was bound to happen.  She took her chance to pass on sage advice learned over her many years.

“They say you lose it once you get older,” Katarina began, her lips quirking into a smirk as she looked at Maggie.  “Not true, that’s when you really know what you’re doing!”

James sighed, “mom, come on.  We’re trying to eat.”

“Wow, that’s… how is that even possible?”  Maggie pondered aloud, unable to quell her curiosity.  “Don’t your bones and stuff hurt?”

“Sure, but like they say… what’s worth doing is gonna hurt afterwards!”

Maggie had avoided Boreal Springs since she and James had begun dating.  She hated lying to her family and it was hard to look Timothy in the eye now.  She felt so deceptive!  She wanted to tell him, but she knew he’d throw a fit and be dramatic.  She drove to Boreal Springs one afternoon on a whim, with the intent to tell him, but chickened out and had lunch with Adora and Isolde instead.

“Maybe he won’t freak out, you might be surprised,” Adora said.

“No, he’ll freak out,” Isolde corrected.  “But you have to tell him.  He’s your brother, Maggie.”

“He’ll just throw a fit and treat me like I’m twelve all over again.  No way.”

Isolde sighed, “he’s just concerned about you.  That thing with Kit was a big mess, you know that.  You can’t just get over something like that.”

Desperate for a change of subject, Maggie pulled Adora back into the conversation, asking after her political ambitions.

“Yeah, sis, what about those political ambitions?  Grandma Alyssa is probably rolling around in her grave!”

Adora frowned, “I just don’t have any interest.  It’s not in me.  I want a family and besides, Shelly is our political genius.  The family name has had enough political scandal, don’t you think?”

“Rolling, sis.  She’s rolling and screaming,” Isolde replied, smirking.  “I know this because of my witchy learnings.”

“Then let her scream.  She’s the one who messed it all up, anyway.  Dad is a wreck.”

“Speaking of which, Maggie, what’s up with your outfit?”

“W-what?  What’s wrong with it?” She replied self-consciously, looking down at her floral pattern shirt.  It was hip, the outfit was trendy right down to her ridiculous sling-back heels.  “I love this outfit!”

Adora shook her head, “no, I mean.  You’re… all big.  Look at your boobs!  Where did those come from?”

“She’s just jealous, Maggie, ignore her,” Isolde said, giving her younger sister a reproachful look.

Their lunch continued on with idle conversation passing back and forth.  It had been too long since Maggie had a chance to sit down with girls and talk, it felt good.  Of course, the longer they sat, the more scandalous their chatter became.  Isolde decided to draw the line when Maggie asked her a rather personal question.

“Was it really with Timothy?  I mean, come on, you can tell us!”

Isolde sipped her drink meaningfully, “I’m not having this discussion with my husband’s younger sister!”

“It was,” Adora supplied.  “It totally was.  I’ve slept with more men than my sister!”

Maggie turned towards Adora, “wow, really?  Who?”

After their meal was finished, Adora had to hurry back home to run some errands.  Isolde stayed behind, unable to hide her worry.  There was something off about Maggie, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.  She cornered her before she could leave.

“Is there something wrong, Maggie?  Something you need to tell me?”

“What?  No, I’m fine, everything’s fine.  I’ll have to grow some more courage, for Timothy, I mean.  It isn’t happening today.”

“You know you can tell me, I won’t tell Timothy.”

“It’s all right, really, Isolde.  I’m fine.  I’ll give you a call later.”

“All right,” Isolde said, watching her walk to her car, “be careful.”

A few weeks later, Maggie found herself holed up in the bathroom at 5am.  She hadn’t been feeling well at all lately and it only seemed to get worse.  She sprinted to the bathroom so fast she nearly ripped the covers off the bed.  She barely managed to make it in time.  She flushed the toilet, trying not to stare at what swirled downwards.

“That’s just gross,” Maggie lamented, closing her eyes.  “Gross.”

She could hear James outside, gathering things for work.  He always left really early, it was probably 5:30 by now.  He probably needed in the bathroom.  Maggie just couldn’t get her head straight.  She splashed hot water over her face in an attempt to bring herself back.  It helped, if only a little.

She heard a small knock on the door followed by James’ voice, “are you all right?”

“I’m fine,” she replied, muffled behind another cascade of water enveloping her face.  “I’ll be out in a sec.”

She let the water drip off her face, onto her tanktop, not bothering with the towel that hung from the sink rack.  It was all she could do to stand upright.  She put her arm over her eyes, the room was too bright, too white.  She felt like she was spinning.

“Maggie?”

She braced herself on the sink and stared at her reflection in the mirror.  It was hard to ignore the small bit of weight she had gained in her midsection.  It was becoming ever more obvious with each passing day.  She closed her eyes and pushed off the sink.

“I’m coming.”

Note from Mao: Sorry it took me a little longer to update BS.  I seem to have come down with something that, hopefully, is NOT Swine Flu.  So I’ve been off my feet for a bit, watching series on Netflix.  Husband’s computer is hooked up to our 50″ Samsung plasma because we have yet to get satellite, LOL.  I’m all moved into the new apartment and everything, so that’s good.  Updates will continue at whatever speed I can manage.

As for Maggie’s unexpected little pregnancy… it was only a matter of time.  When I loaded the lot, James had rolled the “Have a Baby” want, so I locked it and allowed unmarried Try for Baby.  Maggie has yet to roll up any such want.  Poor girl, LOL!  Timothy is going to have a fit.

Saunders – Round 26: ‘Unfortunate Finality’

Basil and Virginia Saunders haven’t been the best parents.  Will their passage into elder hood make them realize the errors of their ways?

Basil did feel remorse for the way he had acted during his adult life.  He had two beautiful daughters and he’d all but ignored them until it was too late.  Now that he was an elder–and losing his hair–he tried his best to build a shaky bridge between them.  He even smiled and nodded when Sage mentioned that she maybe wanted the house to have a full-scale makeover.  The house had remained the absolute same pretty much since Henry Saunders was in residence and boy… that was a long time ago!

The passing of beloved cat Daenarys was a big wake-up call, too.  Life was finite.  Basil hadn’t been feeling too well lately, either.  Maybe he’d caught a cold or something at work?  He rested as much as he could and swallowed down plenty of cough medicine.

Meanwhile, Virginia was feeling her youth slip away.  In an effort to prove to herself that she was still as foxy as ever, she made the mistake of trying to make a pass at James Anderson, her coworker.  He was quick to shut her down.  Virginia’s ego deflated slightly.  He had married the town doorknob, yet he wouldn’t come near her?  Maybe she was losing her touch…

Of course, there was always Nevio.  Living across from one another, their affair had been an easy and casual one.  He was older, sure, but Nevio had always had that certain charm a lady couldn’t deny.  He made her feel better.  She still wasn’t looking forward to getting old and wrinkly.

Basil decided that after the loss of Daenarys, he missed having a pet in the house.  He’d always had cats, but maybe a dog would be fun.  He called the local pet shelter and found Roku, a lovable and playful dog in need of a home.  He certainly had fun training him and it took his mind of his illness, which seemed to be getting progressively worse.

Virginia wasn’t nearly as thrilled about the latest addition to the house.  She’d never been much of a pet person and Roku’s incessant need to roll around in the garbage about had her tearing her hair out!  How disgusting and worse, pushing the garbage can over and spilling it everywhere so she had to pick it up.

No one anticipated what happened next… Basil fell to his unexplained illness.  It turned out to be a very aggressive flu strain that developed into pneumonia, which went untreated.  Virginia found Basil crumpled up in the bathroom and called 911 only for it to be too late.  Daisy and Sage came home to mourn their father’s passing, sad that they hadn’t gotten the chance to really see him since they left.

Virginia was left alone in the house with Roku.  She was quite upset about Basil’s passing, she hadn’t anticipated that it would affect her as much as it did.

Even worse, the stress of the incident seemed to have turned her hair prematurely grey all over! She was horrified.  Getting old was one thing, but losing her lovely, red locks?  It was too much.  Now she was an old, widowed woman with a dog and gigantic house.  Who would want to be romanced by such a sad and pitiful thing?

She sighed, fingering her limp hair.  Could things get any worse?

—————————

Note from Mao: I really fail at trying to get sims better without the use of soup!  Poor Basil came home from work with a cold.  I had him rest, sleep, and bathe constantly, but nothing worked.  :(   I missed his death because I had the game running in the background on FF while I was checking my email, sigh.  Poor Basil!

Although, the scene I came back to was pretty funny.  Virginia seems to be pretty upset that she didn’t get her kiss before he died, LOL!

Anderson 5 – Round 25: ‘Only Slightly Awkward’

James Anderson invited Maggie O`Hanlon, his friend and his best friend’s little sister, to stay with him as opposed to moving into the already cramped O`Hanlon house.  Katarina remains with her son through his trying time of dealing with the whole ‘Kit disaster’.

James loves his mother, he does, but he seriously wishes she’d put a tie on the door or perhaps conduct her amorous activities before he was due home from work.  He was used to this, unfortunately, but he feared what would happen if Maggie happened to walk in on such a scene.  Surely they weren’t as ‘open’ in the O`Hanlon household.  All he needed to do was scar her for life.

Despite Katarina’s little escapades, everything seems to be going smoothly… though there is some obvious tension.  Maggie has had a crush on James since she was young.  He had always been under Kit’s little spell, though, and completely oblivious to her puppy love.  Of course, there was also the dangerous thing of he being Timothy’s little sister.

Still, she was an adult now and no one’s little sister.  Kit was gone and as far as James was concerned, completely nonexistant.  Maggie found it hard to be completely platonic, despite her wish not to complicate things.

Unfortunately, the apartment they had been staying in had been overrun by termites and they were forced to relocate immediately.  Luckily, one of Katarina’s lovers had a spare apartment that was fully furnished and uninhabited for them to take over.  Sometimes it was good to have a mother with connections… unfortunately, the decor in the place could definitely use some work.

“It’s a bit stuffy, but better than living in a box, right?” Katarina told her son, glancing around the room.  Maggie was at work, she was a Science teacher at the Boreal Springs high school.  “Now, this girl you have living with us… Maggie?  She likes you, James.  A lot.”

“She’s Timothy’s little sister.”

Katarina rolled her eyes, “everyone is someone’s sister, brother, daughter, uncle, aunt… doesn’t seem to stop the way the world works, now does it?  Stop making excuses to sit and mourn something that never had a chance anyway.”

James was loathe to admit his mother’s logic made sense, but it did.  Still, he couldn’t hurt his friend or possibly Maggie if his head wasn’t completely in the right place.

To take their minds off of all the drama, Maggie and James met up with Timothy and Isolde downtown on a Friday night.  Isolde and Timothy hadn’t really had a chance to go out since the twins were born.  Of course, upon meeting up, James just had to make a joke about Isolde’s ‘sparkly’ countenance.

“You look radioactive!”

Isolde made a face, “I have a broom, James, and I won’t hesitate to use it.”

Timothy and Maggie watched in amusement.  Finally, Timothy spoke up, “you’d better listen to her, dude.  She’s brutal with that thing.”

Once they got inside, they had a couple of drinks at the bar… and of course, what’s drinks without some drunken karoake?  Isolde and Maggie were the first to go, the ‘lightweights’ when it came to drinking, they were already laughing obnoxiously.  Maggie swayed and sang questionably while Isolde belted out the lyrics like a would-be Diva.  The mixture of the two created a very… interesting sound.

James, thankfully, had inherited the patented Yu talent for all things musical and lyrical, and was quite a capable singer.  Isolde and Timothy somehow managed to make dancing into making out and Maggie was having a hard time keeping upright in her heels.  It felt nice to cut loose and have a little fun.

B.S.U. Campus – Round 24: ‘Slow Ride’

Maggie O`Hanlon is preparing to finish her years at University while Gregory Anderson and Lydia Anderson are just getting started.

Lydia and Gregory arrived together.  It was a little surprising for them to see how quickly they had each grown in such a little amount of time.  Lydia had decided her braids were a bit too childish for the stylings of a young adult.  Gregory spent most of his time studying, trying to please his father.  If Lydia noticed the distance, she didn’t say anything.

Maggie, meanwhile, was hanging out with James.  Maggie had always been fond of James.  That didn’t mean they were hanging out because he had recently divorced Kit Knight.  No, they were friends.  They’d been friends since James started hanging out with Maggie’s older brother, Timothy.  She had drug him out in an effort to cheer him up.  Losing your love because she gave birth to the guy you hate’s children isn’t an easy thing to get over.

Maggie, with her playful ways and consistently upbeat demeanor, did manage to bring James out of his funk.  They had fun.  She even conned him into some karaoke, which he was good at.  His father had been Shang Yu, after all.  Maggie would be lying if she had said she wasn’t hoping that he’d finally see her, though.  She was.  She was so much better for him than Kit, she had always thought so.  She had no interest in Claude freakin’ Saunders.

Lydia still enjoyed fitness.  She especially enjoyed jogging around campus.  It was a good way to clear her mind and she was doing tons of thinking lately.  She felt strange about the way things had gone with Gregory.  Ever since arriving at University, he’d been a little distant.  They’d always been best friends–talking, enjoying one another’s company, everything… but now, things were just awkward.  She hated it.  She especially hated that she had grown kind of used to being even closer to him.

She finally managed to drag him away from his studies long enough to explain what was going on.  It was a relief to hear that it wasn’t anything to do with her, but with his father, Roman.

“I have to keep my grades up, any hint of distraction…”

“You think he’d pull you out?  Really?” Lydia was a little startled.

“No, but he’d probably keep me from seeing you.  Best friends or not.  Whatever else or not.  I really don’t want that to happen.”

Lydia nodded, “I didn’t realize…”

Meanwhile, Maggie was having a discussion with her older brother Timothy.  It wasn’t one she particularly looked forward to.  He wasn’t very pleased to find out she’d been hanging out rather closely with James so soon after his break-up with Kit.

“Don’t be a rebound girl, Maggie.  You’re better than that,” he advised.  She could hear Isolde in the background, trying to take the phone from him.

“I won’t, I told you.  I’m fine.  And tell Isolde that, too.  You guys worry too much.”

Timothy sighed, “I spoke to James.  I know what you’re planning, Mags.  It isn’t–” there was static and the Isolde’s voice broke through, “If you need a place to stay, you can always stay with us!”  More static as Timothy stole back the phone.  “Yeah, what she said.”

Maggie laughed, “you guys are expecting.  And you’ll need the room.  It’ll be fine, I promise.”

Maggie was elated when James came to see her the night before her graduation.  He hadn’t called in advance or anything, just popped up.

“We have an extra room, if you need it,” James offered.  He was fond of Maggie, she was pretty, defintiely, and her personality opposite of Kit’s… but he knew better than to make any moves.  It was too soon and she was Timothy’s little sister.  He was offering her as a friend.

“That would be nice.  Isolde wants me to stay with them, but with the baby and all…”

He nodded, “yeah, I was just there yesterday.  It’s a little hectic.”

She took his hand and smiled, “thanks, James.  I see you in a few days.”

——————————-

Note from Mao: Ahh, Maggie and James have almost three bolts, lol.  Lydia and Gregory were also quite amorous this update…

What’s with the mascots and cheering woohoos?  Seriously!  This was at the end of the round, too… dundundun.

Knight 2 – Round 24: ‘Addicted to Love, End’

James Anderson has pined after Kit Knight since adolescence.  The two are finally engaged, but Kit has a terrible secret.  Will the addition of Katarina, James’ mom, add more friction?

Katarina: I think it’s only fitting that I start this off.  I mean, by all circumstances, I am an uninvolved party.  Sure, James is my son, but his choices are his own.  Shang and I always sort of stood by the fact that he was a smart boy.  Just kind of stupid when it came to girls.  One girl in particular–Kit Knight.  That girl, she’s like me… but she’s in denial.  Lying to herself, like her mother, Marla does.

Things were tense when I moved in.  There’s no love lost between Kit and I.  I mean, she blames me for her dysfunction.  Which is completely ridiculous.  Never mind that I hooked up with Travis recently.  I was trying to prove a point.  But whatever, that’s not what this is about.

Against my advice, James was in a hurry to get hitched.  I still don’t see what the big deal is.  I’ve never been married and you won’t see me crying over it.  Still, my son has always had high values, despite his taste in women.  Being married to Kit made him happy and I am a mom.  I want to see my kid happy.  Shang is probably rolling over in his grave, but he did the whole divorce thing and had an aversion to marriage ever since.

I knew something was up when Kit was sneaking around.  Turns out she’s knocked up.  The landlord revealed it with James right there.  She wasn’t even going to tell him!  The look on her face was priceless! I swore she was going to faint!  James was a little upset that she tried to hide it from him, but he got over it quickly.  He had always wanted to be a dad.  Poor boy.  I had an inkling that this little one wasn’t his… call it maternal instinct.

That and the fact that during the entirety of her pregnancy, Kit would sit around looking pensive.  Some women radiate with light when they’re pregnant and others grouse around the house in sweats… but Kit?  She slunk around almost as if she was hoping to be an invisible, waddling ninja.  She was worried about something and I think I know what…

She gave birth to twins, Nadia and Dominic.  At first, everything looked normal.  Dominic resembled his grandma Marla while Nadia seemed to favor my side of the family.  Or so it seemed… Kit didn’t seem at all relieved.  Which really put things into perspective.  She would never let James or I too close to the infants.  James wrote it off as being a new mother and her nerves… but I knew better.

While Kit was off doing something, I went in to see the little ones.  I picked Nadia up and thought of James when he was that small.  Had so many years really passed?  Were these old, wrinkled hands really mine?  The vanity of youth is seriously cruel.  But I digress.  Nadia isn’t my granddaughter.  I’d know those eyes anywhere… those are Saunders eyes, Henry’s to be exact… and that face?  It isn’t an Anderson at all.

It’s a Saunders.  Claude freakin’ Saunders.  Go figure.

I may not be the best friend or the best wife or girlfriend or any of that.  You may even question my mothering abilities.  But James is my kid, and I’ll be old and dead and in the ground before I let someone use him.  I’ve never lied about who I am or what I’ve done… but this girl?  She’s in so much denial it’s ridiculous.  She’s not taking my boy down with her, he won’t pay for kids that aren’t his!

I confronted her and she feigned ignorance at first, but she broke down in tears.  Seems she did feel bad about it after all.  Good.  I can’t believe she’d drag him through this.  James is a good boy, a sweet boy.  He’s given her more chances than a cat has lives.

When James came home, they went to their room to talk.  I’ll admit it, I was outside, waiting.  They argued.  I heard James saying Claude freakin’ Saunders in disbelief and I heard Kit crying.  It was a mess, but cathartic.  James needed this.  He never got angry at Kit, he took it all in stride, but this?  This was ridiculous.  By the time it was over, Kit was packing her things and calling her parents.

My heart wrenched for my boy, it really did, but he needed this.  He needed to be rid of her.  She wasn’t good enough for him… she needed to get a clue and accept herself.  What a mess.  At least Marla will take care of those kids–she was always a great mother, despite her trip down the river denial.  I don’t know why Kit is so messed up, maybe it was me.  But I’ve fixed it.  She won’t take my boy with her, that’s for sure.

———————–

Note from Mao: It seemed only fitting for Katarina to narrate this.  The twins are indeed Claude’s and the Anderson side related to Henry rarely ever expresses his eyes.  It’s mostly Gordon’s side that does.  Weirdly enough.  Anyway, so we have it.  Kit and James are done.  Poor James… but I’ll bet Maggie is happy to hear the news, LOL!

This lot will change to Anderson 5 next round.

O`Hanlon – Round 24: ‘A Good Life’

Julie and Asia O`Hanlon have been married a long while and are quite pleased their son has returned to take the family reins.  Timothy O`Hanlon arrives home from University with his fiancee, Isolde Anderson.

Timothy and Isolde had been dating since teenagers.  Unlike most relationships, theirs really had no ups or downs.  To most, it would seem boringly perfect, but to them, it was bliss.  They had very little drama that seemed to consume most couples.  It was made even more hilarious because they were just so different, you almost expected them to be constantly battling.  Instead, they were quite happy and seemed to fit together like two perfectly matched puzzle pieces.

They wasted no time getting married.  Isolde did not mourn the loss of her family name, in fact, she was eager to escape it.  Her life had been riddled with conflict and death, it seemed, and taking this new name and starting this new life with Timothy promised happiness.  She didn’t have to worry about her philandering father or the mother that had abandoned her, nor did she constantly think about the grandmother she had lost.  No, she had a new life and new concerns, happier concerns.  Timothy was just thrilled to finally be married.  It was something he had pictured–with Isolde–since they had begun dating all those years ago.

Yes, a new start with family and friends all in attendance.  It was a glorious day.  They had planned on a honeymoon, but opted out due to bad weather.  They’d go another time, there was no rush.  They were happy with the way things were now.

If it was weird to be taking over his grandparents’ old bedroom, Timothy said nothing.  It was the biggest bedroom in the house, after all, and neither of them were going to complain about having a bed.  Asia and Julie had both hinted that grandchildren would be more than welcome, but Timothy and Isolde were happy to take their time and simply enjoy being together.  They had plenty of time to have kids.

A small shack was built to house Isolde’s magical oddities and to give her a place to practice her magic undisturbed.  It was directly behind the house and so Timothy could come out and see her anytime.  He tried his best to stay away, though, respecting her need for space and privacy.  For this, Isolde was thankful.  She didn’t want her husband finding out that she was aiding Gordon Saunders.  Isolde was a good girl, but something inside her stirred and demanded she follow in her mentor Lilith Yu’s footsteps.  That meant helping Gordon.

Not that she found Gordon disagreeable.  It was difficult to realize he was ‘the bad guy’… he was much nicer to her than most ‘good guys’.

Of course, dealing with a vampire crime boss and being a witch weren’t Isolde’s only steps into the realm of the paranormal.  She also had experiences with ghosts.  It would seem her new home was just as haunted as her last.  She knew the ghost of Patricia haunted her former home and now it seemed the ghosts of pets haunted this place.  It was harmless, but it still startled her quite a bit.  She explained to Timothy she simply wasn’t feeling well–she didn’t want to worry him, especially if he was clueless.  Timothy had a way of being completely oblivious to the obvious.

While Isolde was working on her witchery, Timothy took time to catch up with his old friend, James Anderson.  He was happy to hear that James had finally cornered Kit Knight into an engagement.  He kept his judgements to himself.  James was a good guy, he deserved better than Kit, especially with how she treated him.  Perhaps Timothy was biased, though.  They were friends and he barely knew Kit.

At least James wasn’t dating Maggie, that’d just be weird.  It had been hard enough dealing with her crush on him.  Creepy.

Everyone in the house was pleased when Isolde announced she was pregnant.  It wasn’t exactly planned, but not unwelcome, either.  They were pretty secure in their schedules and relationship and now it was time for things to get shook up a bit.

————————

Note from Mao: I had no idea Isolde was even pregnant until her belly popped after she got home from work!  Stealth pregnancy!  No surprise, though, both of them have a 60%+ chance of trying.

Also, I actually did an elaborate wedding this time, but didn’t want to bog down the update.  For those of you who enjoy this sort of thing, more wedding pictures:

I love making my sims dance!  And you can see Michael showing off back there.  He’s not always quiet and subdued…

Sibling dancing!  This was autonomous and therefore hilarious.  Isolde is dancing with her younger sister, Adora Anderson.  Timothy is dancing with his younger sister Maggie.

Do you smell trouble, ’cause I sure as heck do!  Three bolts, THREE BOLTS!  Yeah, don’t worry, Kit will pop up in the Anderson update.  Sigh.  James is RIGHT beside her, too.

Knight 2 – Round 23: ‘Addicted to Love, Pt. 6′

Kit Knight and James Anderson have had an odd sort of on-again, off-again relationship.  James may be the right guy for her, but Kit just can’t get over Claude Saunders.

James and Kit have moved into the same complex as the O`Hanlon and Davis family.  Kit and Patrick are distant relatives whiles James and Fou-Lu also share some blood ties.  Of course, as soon they move in, James makes it clear that he’s not an idiot and he’s very much aware of what Kit’s been doing while he was in college.  He pleads with her to stop what she’s doing and be faithful to their relationship.  Kit takes it all in stride.  She cares about James, she knows she needs to cool down and stop acting a fool, but love is blind and she can’t help herself.  She is in love with Claude, as stupid and senseless as it is.

So when Claude calls her late one night while James is sleeping, Kit immediately agrees to meet him.  They meet at a platonic place and Kit is startled.  He’s sitting alone, but it looks as if he’s been there since the sun set.  She joins him.  He looks at her out of the corner of his eye.

“I’m glad you came, Kit.  I care about you and I didn’t want to do this over the phone, you know?”

Kit’s chest tightens, she looks at him and then past him.  It’s obvious what’s going on.

“I’m a guy with a lot of love, but unfortunately, I have to give you up.  You need to be with James and, well, I need to–”

“…be with Emily,” Kit finishes, seeing the pale vampiress standing there, completely complacent, completely cool.  There would be no scene, no cat fight.  Kit was sure she could take the old biddy, but Emily was composed.

“I’m glad you understand!” Claude smiled, finally facing her.  It wasn’t an easy thing to do, he and Kit had been attached a long time.  He cared about her a lot, but he was in love with Emily.  She was his match, his perfect fit.  James was Kit’s.  He wished she’d realize that.  “It’s for the best, Kit, really.”

Of course it was, but that didn’t mean Kit felt like jumping up and down for joy.  She enjoyed her last night with Claude and left him to run off with Emily.  It was over.  She felt empty.

James, however, was quite overjoyed when it seemed Kit turned a new leaf.  She agreed to a complete commitment and even accepted his offer of engagement.  James wasn’t an idiot, though, he didn’t ask her before he was sure that Claude freakin’ Saunders was out of the picture.  He’d heard through the grapevine that Claude had been seen with a very lovely, old-world classy type vampire lady.  Kit was old news and now, officially, James’.  Hopefully she would see that they were right for one another and finally accept his love and return it.

Unfortunately, James couldn’t completely enjoy his victory.  News of his father’s death reached him via his mother and he found himself feeling guilty.  She was all alone now and while she assured him she was all right, he insisted that she come and stay.  He knew Katarina and Kit did not get along  at all, but Katarina was his mother.  He wouldn’t let her live her last days alone.  Their fight was a silly one, anyway.  Whatever happened with Kit’s family was her parents fault and didn’t involve Kit or maybe James had just grown up with infidelity so long he didn’t see it as a big, horrible thing.

Maybe that’s why he was still in love with Kit, despite all her transgressions.

————————–

Note from Mao: I know this update doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is, trust me.  Kit… is pregnant.  I know she is.  There are three possible fathers.  Yes, THREE!  Why do I know this?  Because she’s she’s woohoo’d with both James and Claude in the span of a day, AND, during her date with Claude, she went on the dance sphere.  OH HAHA, SILLY ME, I had forgotten about her teenage abduction.  ARGH!

Here you can see Claude and I BOTH wondering WTF Kit went.  ARGH!  COME BACK KIT, NO ALIEN BABIES FOR YOU!  Also, note the peeing memories.  From when she was HELD CAPTIVE at her former apartment building.  Yargh.

Poor Kit, she really is/was/whatever in love with Claude.  This was her want panel before the date.  Note the MARRY CLAUDE want.  So, now she has baby daddy drama.  I refuse to spoil it and find out WHO the father is.  To recap, it’s either JAMES, CLAUDE, or AN ALIEN.  This is some straight up Springer crap right here.

B.S.U. Campus – Round 22: ‘Turn Me Loose, End’

There’s plenty of people and drama to go around at Boreal Summit University the next two years…

The next two years at Boreal Summit University proved to be… awkward ones.  James, Marcus, and Shelly were all finishing their final years.  That was well and good, aside from the fact Marcus was sleeping with James’ girlfriend.  Of course, Marcus felt awful about it, especially because he was really interested in starting up a relationship with his former high school flame.  It was kind of hard when he kept randomly running into Kit and sleeping with her, though.

“Don’t even talk to her, don’t kiss her, just avoid her,” James suggested, surprisingly calm.

“You are handling this way too well, dude,” Marcus replied, stunned.

“You’re not the problem, Marcus, you’re a distraction.  Claude freakin’ Saunders is the problem.  Damn vampire.”

Cole wasted no time approaching Shelly.  She hadn’t really spent time trying to find romance in college.  Instead, she found herself kind of missing Cole.  She had always wanted Timothy O`Hanlon, but she was beginning to realize that may have been a shallow, teenaged girl fantasy.  She and Cole had a lot more in common and he would also cow-down and do whatever she said.  He was a bit of a pushover, the kind of person Shelly needed if she was going to make her dreams come true and become the next mayor of Boreal Springs.

So she accepted his advances and they started a true, non-fake relationship.  If anything, the Anderson name would certainly give her a leg-up in the political world.

Isolde, meanwhile, was still studying her ‘art’.  She’d had many talks with Lilith Yu and when she finally arrived at University, she couldn’t keep herself away from Timothy.  Together, they both brought her out of her negative spiral.  She stopped sulking and brooding and went back to what she loved.

“What are you doing?” Timothy asked one evening as Isolde tested her cauldron for the first time.

“Trying to make something for Lilith,” Isolde said, trying to concentrate.

“Screw potions,” Timothy replied, giving the globe in his hand a pained look, “use magic on this damn thing.  How did anyone ever manage to figure this thing out?”

Isolde sighed, “I don’t think it works like that.”

There were some definite perks to being a witch.  Isolde had the best transportation to class and anywhere else–a broom!  A real, flying broom.  Sure it was a gaudy blue, complete with a weird crystal at the end of it’s stick, but what could beat a flying broom?  Absolutely nothing.  She couldn’t wait until she’d studied enough to have a spectral assistant.  Timothy tried, but he really wasn’t very good at handling the reagents.

Poor Cole, meanwhile, was finding that tinkering was not exactly his thing.  The computer broke in the midst of him working hard on his term paper.  He tried to fix it only to get quite a jolt.  Thankfully, Isolde was around and she quickly hit him with a rejuvination spell.  He wasn’t enamored with her anymore, but he was certainly thankful for her helpful, witchy ways.

Shelly had different ideas of ‘healing wounds’.  Not that Cole particularly disagreed with her methods.  Perhaps it wasn’t smart to leave a bunch of unattended, young adults in a house all by themselves.  It would seem that none of their parents even considered they would do anything questionable.  Well, okay, Cole’s had.  Sara called constantly, reminding him that he was their last hope.  No pressure or anything.

Of course, you can’t have two family sims without a little trouble, either.  Sure, Isolde was knowledge-minded first and foremost, but her second inclination was family.  Perhaps that’s why she and Timothy got along so well.  They had plenty of chemistry, though it probably wasn’t wise to explore the chemistry right before an important final exam.

But then again, most guys don’t have girlfriends with witchy ways.  Timothy heads off to his final exam feeling completely rejuvenated and safe in the knowledge that he’s totally got college in the bag.

James, Marcus, and Shelly all graduated with honors, much to the delight of their parents.  Cole wasn’t about to let Shelly run off into the sunset.  He proposed to her rather spontaneously, right before she was preparing to leave with Marcus.  Of course, she accepted.  Instead of staying in a cramped little apartment, she’d go make nice with her future in-laws.  It would be awkward, but they had a nice house.  James seemed shocked by the display, wondering if Cole knew exactly what he was getting into.  Not that he was one to talk, really.

Meanwhile, outside, Marcus was chatting up his old flame, Valerie.  She was surprisingly also on campus and they had met a few times through classes and just random campus things.  She’d grown up quite well, he couldn’t deny it.  There was still an attraction there and maybe, since they were both adults now, a chance at something more.  They passed numbers and Marcus moved to leave with Shelly.  James would leave in the morning.

—————————–

Note from Mao: Isolde really wants Timothy to be a warlock, LOL.  Poor Timothy, I don’t think he has it in him to do witchy things.  He’s too confused by that silly game ball, he brings it out constantly and makes pained faces.  Cole immediately walked up to Shelly and planted one on her.  I was too shocked for a picture.  Seems he took the Tsung way of confrontation!  Either way, he wanted to get engaged and so they did.  Marcus kept having wants to talk to Valerie, so there she is.  She’s a pretty sim, despite her over-painted, pudgy-faced teen years.

Knight 2 – Round 22: ‘Addicted to Love, Pt. 4′

Kit Knight hasn’t got it all together like most might think.  She’s floundering, still trying to figure out exactly what it is she wants from life.

Kit moved into a tiny apartment across from her best friend Sade and her now-husband Michael Saunders.  She was a little startled to see that Sade actually got what she wanted and a little jealous, too.  Kit had always been the smarter one, the more ambitious one.  What had happened?  She called James and he came to visit her from University.  He was younger and still toiling through college.  Still, he was completely and wholly in love with her and probably even entertained ideas of marrying her.  It was comforting.  He was the first one she called.

Unfortunately, a few nights later, she went out on the town and ran into Marcus Yu.  They had an awkward sort of ships passing in the night things while Kit had been at college and not with Claude anymore, but with James.  He was there with his former high-school girlfriend.  He didn’t leave with her, though.  Kit knew she needed to stop acting like some woman of the night, but she really couldn’t figure out why.  It was her life, right?  Anyway, if Marcus thought she and James were seriously dating, he wouldn’t come around her, right?

The person she saw the most of was Claude Saunders, th0ugh.  At first, she had refused to do anything past being friends, but well, that didn’t last long.  Claude was a vampire, yes, and that only seem to add to his innumerable charm.  Kit wasn’t particularly sure why she was continually drawn to Claude.  He didn’t really share her level of intelligence and he wasn’t necessarily concerned about the same things or the future.  He lived for the moment.  Maybe that’s what she liked so much.  She knew he liked Emily more than her, which grated on her nerves endlessly, but Emily was missing and so Kit got most of his attention.

That didn’t stop her from feeling guilty.  She just couldn’t rationalize her own emotions.  James would be graduating soon and he’d likely want to be with her.  What would she do when threatened with commitment?

“How can you love two people at once?”

“Easily,” Claude offered casually, “love is different for everyone.  We all love someone, but differently.  I mean, I love you, but not in the way you might expect.”

“That’s for Emily,” Kit replied sourly, “and who is to say I even love you?”

“Oh, please, Kit,” Claude laughed, “if you didn’t, you wouldn’t be screwing around with me behind James’ back.  Good little boy he is.  He’s a good catch, you know.  You’re an idiot.  I wonder what he’d do if I walked up to him and told him what’s been going on?”

Kit rolled her eyes, “he’d probably hit you.”

“Hm, lucky for you I like my face unharmed.  Well, I guess he’ll find out the hard way, then… can’t say I didn’t try.”

“You’re such a jerk, Claude.”

—————————

Note from Mao: I have no idea what I’m going to do with Kit!  She sleeps with everyone and everything.  If Sade weren’t with Michael, she’d try to get with him, too.  Three bolts.  Agh!
