Anderson 2 – Round 16: ‘Polyamorous, Pt. 5′

Florence and Shaniqua have an unsteady relationship while Kate and Shang’s makes theirs look like couple of the year material.  Poor little Hugh is still oblivious to the strangeness of his family, but how long will it last.  (pardon the outdated picture of Hugh, woops.)

As was usual for this particular household, Florence and Shang were in the middle of a rather loud row.  Florence had lit into him for his indiscretion with Alyssa while Shang had shot back with the implication that Kate had been dabbling in unseen forces.  Florence balked at this claim.

“A golden lamp?  Honestly, Shang, do you take me for that much of a fool?”

“Hey, I’m being real.  That girl of yours is sneaky.  You think I was really so careless as to knock ‘er up at college?”

Florence scowled, “you’re foul, Shang Yu, foul and disgusting.  I can hardly stand the sight of you.”  She stormed off.

Despite her initial anger at her son-in-law’s claim, Florence decided to seek out further counsel.  She spoke to her son, Nathaniel, who had been passing by one morning.  Of course, he was clueless.  Poor Nathaniel got the looks, but he certainly wasn’t the brightest of bulbs.

“A lamp?  Are you kidding?  I don’t know anything about that stuff, ask Lilith.”

Finding nothing on the lamp front and too proud to contact her daughter Lilith to inquire further, Florence relented.  She instead shared with Shaniqua what Alyssa had told her.  Shaniqua’s response was quite warranted.

“They what?” She gaped, completely aghast.  Shaniqua had screwed up in the past, but never with family.  What the hell were they thinking?  “That’s insane.”

“Isn’t it?  And I don’t know what to do.  If Kate were to ever know…”

“Alyssa should know better, too.  No wonder her marriage is over.  Sheesh.”

Meanwhile, Shang had been feeling the weight of married life.  Sure he had some fun with some ladies, but it wasn’t enough.  The stifling atmosphere he suffered at home was enough to kill a man.  He sought comfort outside, in the one person who could always provide it in endless quantities.

“This married life is killing me, babe.  I’m not sure how much longer I can take it.”

Katarina smiled and moved towards him, “poor baby, I know just what you need…”

Unfortunately for the both of them, Florence had been home at the time.  Busted was truly an understatement.  Shang hardly wanted to crawl out of the bed, knowing what awaited him when he did.  Goodness only knew what Florence would do to Katarina.

Florence lit into Katarina like a vengeful flame, only to be snuffed out before she began, “how could you do this–”

“You, shut up!  No one tells me what I can and what I can’t do,” Katarina hissed in response, giving Florence a sharp jab.  “You wanna blame someone, blame Kate.  She’s the idiot in this mess, not us.”

“Ladies, ladies, can’t we resolve this with kindness?”

“Shut up, Shang,” they said in unison, the Anderson tones in their voice quieting him instantly.

“Get out, Katarina.  If I ever see you in my house again, I swear…”

“I’m leaving,” Katarina said, rolling her eyes.  “Don’t bother with threats.”

“As for you,” Florence said, whirling around to face Shang, who had found his clothes on the floor and put them on.  “You are shameless!  In this bed, in my house!  I regret ever bringing you into this family.”

“It was a forced thing, I would’ve been happier has a bachelor,” Shang admitted, crossing his arms over his chest.  “Find the lamp yet, Florence?  Might want to, before Kate screws us all over.”

“There is no lamp, that’s just an excuse for your carelessness!”

“Is that so?  Then what is this?” Shang said, pulling the lamp from beneath the bed.  “Go ahead, look at it.  I’m outta here.”

Florence could scarcely believe her eyes.  The thing was huge and unmistakable, its golden sheen catching in the bright daylight.  How had Kate kept this so carefully hidden?  Florence didn’t want to venture a guess as to where it came from, she already knew.  It had to have been Lilith, but why?  Lilith was a lot of things, but she wasn’t stupid.  Didn’t she know what Kate had done with this vile thing?

With great effort, Florence hefted the lamp out of Kate and Shang’s room and hid it away in her own.

Meanwhile, Hugh had somehow managed to become a teen.  It was likely thanks to his grandma Florence’s tireless efforts.  While he hadn’t understood at first, he know knew that she was guiding him down the right path.  He was old enough to see how crazy his family was.  No one could say he wasn’t Shang’s son, though, as he was a remarkable likeness, though with softer features.

He desperately wanted a family, despite the nature of his father dwelling within him.  He would strive to fight it and he would succeed.

Hugh was happy to announce his first scholarship to Florence.  She was the one who had started him on the path towards college.

“I’m so proud of you,” Florence said, hugging him tightly.  Her time was short, she knew she’d never see him actually go, but the pride she felt knowing he would was enough.  “And so early, too.”

“It’s all thanks to you, grandma.  I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Don’t say that, sweetie.  You’re a good kid, you’ll always do fine, as long as you try and keep your wits.  Don’t be like your dad.”

He laughed, “but I like music!”

“Well, that’s fine, but you know what I mean.”

——–

Note from Mao: Phew, long update.  Katarina and Shang got buuuusted.  Woo!  And the lamp is revealed, ohnoes.  Hugh is, well, yeah.  Wow.  Where did he come from?  He’s a family sim with a LTW of golden anniversary, but a randomized roll of the dice has designated him to have a secondary as Romance.  Dun, dun, dun… Florence is on her last day.  She’ll die next round. :’(

Anderson 2 – Round 15: ‘Polyamorous, Pt. 4′

Kate and Shang are now legally wed, which should please Florence, but she just can’t get over Shang’s inherent stupidity and lack of commitment.  Shaniqua is trying to protect Hugh from the possible trauma that a feuding father and grandmother could cause.

Florence loved Hugh dearly and that was why she couldn’t stand Shang.  Hugh had so many opportunities, but with Shang’s influence, it was possible he’d end up an ignorant, womanizing fool like his father.  Florence wasn’t about to sit idly by and let that happen.  She made sure to impress the importance of education on her young grandson, hoping to build the cornerstone of what would hopefully become a long, academic career leading to a fantastic job.

Hugh, while not completely dumb, was hardly any academic scholar.  He tried hard to please his grandma, but he really didn’t care all that much about school.

Seeing Hugh growing so fast made Kate long for another child.  When she voiced her desire to Shang, she was met with a rather unenthusiastic response.

“You’re kidding, right?” Shang replied.  He tried to smile but it came out as more of a nervous twitch at the edge of his lip.  Inside, he was screaming.

“No, why would I?  We’re both doing fine at work and Hugh could benefit from it–”

Shang shook his head, “you’re talking crazy and you know how I feel about crazy chicks, Kate.  Just be content and happy with Hugh.  He’s a good kid.”

Shaniqua knew that she had messed up a few times in her life, but she planned to do right by Hugh.  She didn’t want to see him scarred by her transgressions.  That was the only reason Florence was in such a horrible mood and why she refused to tolerate Shang’s ways.  Shaniqua knew he would never change and she wished that Kate would see that… but Kate was in love and love is blind.

So she made it her purpose to ensure that Hugh was loved and unable to see the tension that surrounded him.  She especially wanted to protect him from Shang’s nature.  Shaniqua knew how hard of an urge it was to fight… she wished only for Hugh not to suffer the same torment.

Being married didn’t slow Shang down any.  When he was home everyone else was usually at work and Hugh was off at school.  Shang didn’t waste any time welcoming Katarina back from college.  She’d grown a bit, but she hadn’t outgrown him.  Maybe if they weren’t so promiscuous, perhaps if they weren’t so caught up in the fleeting moments, they’d be good together.

But they were and so they were only happy with one another until the deed was done.  Then it was a quick kiss, a sly wink, and a closing door.

One evening, Hugh brought home in report card and stunned both his parents with all the A’s.  It seemed that Florence’s stalwart dedication was paying off.  Of course, Shang had to ruin the moment.

“That’s good, you little genius,” Shang’s face skewed up as he leaned down closer to his son, “but remember, chicks don’t dig nerds until they’re rich.”

“Shang!” Kate yelled angrily from over her book, brows set in a hard line.  “Don’t say things like that to him!”

“I’m only speaking the truth, babe.”

Hugh was growing like a weed everyday.  The years seemed to be slipping away and while Kate knew she was much younger than other mothers with children Hugh’s age, she couldn’t stop herself from feeling depressed.  She had promised Lilith that she’d leave the lamp alone, but desperate times called for desperate measures.  She tried the conventional way and it hadn’t worked… it was time to go back to unconventional methods.  At least that had proved itself before.

“Do you understand the repercussions of your request?” The genie asked, as he had before.

Kate waved him off.  She hadn’t seen any repercussions yet and she wasn’t like to anytime soon.  “Yes, yes, now can you do it or not?”

“We shall see… it is a troublesome task you ask.  It will take… time.”

“As long as it happens, I don’t care.”

“As you wish it, so then it shall be.”

Meanwhile, unaware of her daughter’s dabbling into the paranormal, Florence met with her younger sister Alyssa outside.  Alyssa was acting weird, even for her.  She insisted they go around the back to talk.  Florence was baffled.

“I did something stupid,” Alyssa said suddenly, her voice wavering.  “Really, really stupid… and I have to tell someone.  You’re the only one, Florence.  Dad is gone and you’re all I’ve got left.  So you have to listen, all right?  And you can’t get angry… not until I’ve said what I need to say.”

At this, Florence was instantly on edge.  She tried to play it off, but her tension was evident in her face, “well, say it then.”

“I slept with Shang.  It was a mistake, it was before the wedding, and it was–it was stupid.  I don’t know what happened.  I know it was wrong, and I wish I could go back and undo.  Thank everything that there wasn’t a child…”

“You what?!” Florence shouted, fists balling at her sides.  Had she ever been so angry?  Yes, and it was the same thing, over and over again.  Was it human nature to be promiscuous?  “Not only did you do something to wrong your family, your own damned niece, but you… you have children, Alyssa.  You have have a husband!  What were you thinking?  Of all the people… that idiot, that jabbering fool!  What could have possessed you to do something so stupid?”

Alyssa crossed her arms defensively, “I… I don’t know!  I was just so angry and he kept pressing and he was there… and I thought, I mean I was completely convinced Ryu was having an affair… with Tracey Saunders.  I know that sounds stupid, but at the time, it was completely reasonable.  I just… I needed to tell someone… you can’t tell Kate, though.  You can’t, Florence.  I couldn’t bear it!”

“You should be telling Ryu, not me!  I swear, am I the only one with a working brain around here?  Sleeping with Shang Yu!  Of all people!  Nevermind he’s Kate’s husband… I thought you had a better opinion of yourself, Alyssa.  I guess I was wrong.”

Thankfully, the next evening, Nathaniel dropped by with Sara and Patrick for a visit.  Hugh wasn’t quite sure what to make of his cousin Patrick.  They really didn’t have too much in common.  Patrick seemed a little too self-involved to bother talking about anything that he wasn’t particularly interested in.

Hugh had always thought his aunt and uncle were extremely strange and this was only solidified during their visit.  They were always hugging and being affectionate.  It was creepy.

Anderson 2 – Round 14: ‘Polyamorous, Pt. 3′

Florence Anderson forced Kate to leave University and finish out her pregnancy at home.  She also threatened Shang Yu with incredible violence if he didn’t make her daughter an honest woman.  Shaniqua stands in the background, not wanting to face Florence’s wrath while Hugh is completely oblivious to the family turmoil that surrounds him.

Kate spent a lot of time trying to teach Hugh the necessary skills to function in the world.  It wasn’t easy, as she was working long and daunting hours at the hospital, but it was certainly worth it.  There was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with Hugh.  Hugh didn’t seem to mind one bit, either.  He even let Kate teach him how to walk.

Shaniqua was less than impressed with Florence’s treatment of Shang.  She decided to confront her, fearing that it may result in a backlash, but what else could she do?  This couldn’t go on, not when Hugh was getting old enough to see it.

“You really need to calm down on Shang, Florence.”

Florence became immediately defensive, “I’m not doing anything wrong.  He got Kate into this situation, he can damn well stick around and deal with it.”

“It wasn’t just him, Florence.  Kate had a part in it, too.  Besides, you’re going to chase him off anyway if he keep acting like the harpy from hell.”

“What would you know about any of it?  You’re just like him.” Florence shot back, only to finish with: “I’ll lay off when he marries Kate.”

Lilith dropped by for a surprise visit, but Kate was luckily heading out to work.  She knew she was going to get lectured about the lamp again.  She refused to give it up–what if she needed it?  So she waved politely and hurried out the door at the honking ambulance waiting for her.

Florence cornered Lilith and was not pleased with what she had heard.  Lilith’s job was questionable, to be sure, but to be helping Ryu Anderson condemn Janine?  Florence wasn’t happy at all and she let Lilith know it.

“Look, I don’t care about these family politics,” Lilith retorted, a mirror of her mother with her angry face and crossed arms.  “I did it for my own gain.  If Janine’s a criminal, who cares?  She’s dead.  And Katy is back so the murder is irrelevant.  So just drop it.”

Florence shook her head, “are my children trying to kill me early?  You’re all going to drive me to a heart attack!”

“Why don’t you just deal with the real problem–Shaniqua cheating.  Yeah, you found out, but I knew, too.  Stop putting it on us and just deal with it already.”

Shang avoided the two arguing females as he came through the door and headed straight to Hugh’s room.  Florence was suitably distracted, so he was able to spend some quiet time with his son.  He didn’t dislike Hugh, not in the least.  Shang wasn’t the marrying type, but he wasn’t the type to make his children feel like crap, either.

How could he ignore Hugh when it was like looking into a mirror?  He was a tiny version of him!

Unfortunately for Shang, he did end up having to tie the knot.  It wasn’t that he disliked Kate, not at all, it was just being married was like putting a noose around his neck and hanging him out to dry.  It was stifling and constricting.  Who knew how long it would last.  Now he actually had to be somewhat concerned that his advances towards other woman couldn’t be seen by others, lest they pull the whole “but he’s married” deal.

Not to mention the wedding band–what the heck was he going to do about that?!

Hugh’s birthday came shortly after the wedding.  He turned into quite the talkative little child and he shared his father’s love of music and drums.  He still looked like Shang, there didn’t seem to be a tiny bit of Anderson or Saunders in him.

———-

Note from Mao: Kate spun the ‘Get Married’ want and Florence has had the ‘Relative Gets Married’ want locked awhile, so they are married, bahaha.  Hugh is a tiny Shang.  I’m scared.

Anderson 2 – Round 13: ‘Polyamorous, Pt. 2′

Florence Anderson still hasn’t confronted Shaniqua Saunders about her infidelity.  She’s too busy worrying about her daughter, Kate, and her good-for-nothing fiance, Shang Yu.  Kate dropped out her senior year at B.S.U. when she got pregnant and Shang joined the house after he graduated.

Shang wasn’t thrilled at the idea of being stuck in a house with two old biddies and a very pregnant Kate.  He was quite open about it, too.  He expressed his desire to travel and be famous to Shaniqua, who was surprisingly receptive to the idea.

Florence shut him down quickly, though.  She was going to be the mother-in-law from hell.

“Travel? Don’t be stupid!” Florence growled, cornering the unsuspecting Shang.  “You’ve got a child to raise!”

Nathaniel, who had been visiting, witnessed the entire confrontation.  He wasn’t quite happy about what Shang had done to his little sister, but he didn’t envy anyone forced to take on his mother’s wrath, either.  Shaniqua remained quiet as well, knowing better than to step into the fray.

“You’ll learn a thing or two about being an irresponsible adult.” Florence finished, storming off.

Despite Florence saying otherwise, Shang wasn’t completely awful.  He was just promiscuous.  He made sure that Kate didn’t feel too badly about leaving University.

“I don’t care, Shang,” Kate smiled.  “I can still be a nurse.  I’ll just have to take some classes, that’s all.  Mom just makes a big deal out of everything.”

Despite being forced into fatherhood and servitude to a crazy mother-in-law, Shang didn’t give up his dreams of music and fame.  He practiced often and was even working as a roadie for a local band.  Soon he’d have to go out and travel.  He knew Florence wouldn’t be keen on the idea, but she’d deal.  He wasn’t about to give up his life’s ambition!  Kate likely wouldn’t be happy, either, but she’d be preoccupied with the baby when it came.

Kate gave birth to a single baby boy named Hugh.  He had all of Shang’s coloring, much to Florence’s chagrin.  Kate was over the moon and she coddled and cared for the infant constantly.  Shang had more than enough time on his hands with his wife-to-be distracted!

It helped that Florence wouldn’t let him near Hugh alone.  Anytime he had a random paternal instinct, Florence was there to sweep Hugh away.  He wasn’t going to complain.  It took the burden off of him and just made her look bad.  He wouldn’t have any issue traveling on the road now, and it was a good thing.  They didn’t just want him as a roadie, they needed a guitarist!

Kate barely noticed Shang’s absence.  She was too busy caring for Hugh.  He made everything all right and she quickly forgot about how easily Shang was swayed by the female gender.  She had even forgotten all about the lamp she had.  Hugh was her world now.

Of course, Florence was beginning to ask when they planned on getting married, as she wouldn’t let the baby be raised in a broken home.  Not a willingly broken one, that is.

When Shang was home, he took advantage of Katarina Anderson’s recent move to University.  They usually tried to meet up there, but sometimes she stopped by while she was visiting home.  Nathaniel caught them going at it on the sidewalk, for everyone to see!  He wasn’t pleased.

He broke them up and read Shang the riot act.  It was better than Florence or Kate finding out.  He warned Shang to watch his steps, he was treading on thin ice.  Florence wasn’t kidding when she said she’d make his life hell!

Hugh’s birthday came quickly and soon he was a capable toddler.  Kate was thrilled, now she could teach him things!  They were both completely oblivious to the fact that Shang was making regular visits to Katarina Anderson while also trying to wear down her mother, Alyssa.

——–

Note from Mao:  Shang will never change and it amuses me greatly.  Katarina strolled by the lot often, so it was only a matter of time before their side-project was rekindled!  I was greatly amused when Nathaniel was walking by and caught them.

Yu – Round 13: ‘Lilith’s Choice, Pt. 4′

Tsung Yu has finally convinced Lilith to marry him. Somehow, they ended up with a child. Can Lilith step up to motherhood or will she falter and become obsessed with the unknown?

Being a father wasn’t terribly hard for Tsung, he had always been the responsible type and he had helped with Shang a little in his youth, too. However, he was concerned about Lilith. She was extremely busy working on whatever it was she did in her little ‘secret’ room she had made him build. He was worried that whatever it was, it was highly dangerous and needed to stop.

Lilith tried to assure him that it wasn’t. It was simply her own little device to make the unknown suddenly become known. This made no sense to Tsung, but Lilith wasn’t about to elaborate and blow her entire secret.

“Just trust me, okay? It isn’t anything crazy.”

“That’s like saying a bomb is a child’s toy!” Tsung replied, a little flustered. “Why is this so important to you and why are you refusing to tell me the whole story?”

Lilith rolled her eyes, attempting to feign disgust, “because you wouldn’t understand. Just let it go. It’s not some all-consuming obsession. I’ve already finished it. It’s done and over with. Just drop it.”

What she hadn’t told Tsung was that it was that Ryu Anderson had emailed her and would be dropping by while he was at work. It was purely a business-related visit. He had heard of her dabbling in the paranormal and decided that she could help them find out what happened to Katy Saunders.

“I can’t just summon her,” Lilith said, making a face. “What do I look like? A nutjob?”

“What do you need, then?”

“Items, personal affects, something… oh, and money.”

Ryu shrugged, “that isn’t an issue. We have some of her things and well, yes, money isn’t a problem at all.”

“Good. Get ‘em, let me know, and then we’ll arrange it, all right? But it won’t be instantaneous. This stuff takes time.”

Lilith may not win any ‘mother of the year’ awards, but she did her job fairly well. She cared for Zhou when he cried and cuddled him. He was the deciding factor when it came to whether or not she would help Ryu. She had every intention of bringing Chuck back, but now it seemed moot. She didn’t want to be like Shaniqua or Shang. The machine could only handle one resurrection and that would be the one of Katy Saunders.

If anything, she’d have oodles of fun watching the drama storm that would surely follow.

Zhou’s birthday followed not long after Ryu called to confirm he had the personal affects. Tsung was oblivious to his wife’s deeds and happily enjoyed his son. He was fine with Zhou being their only child. He had goals and personal wants, too, and while he loved children… he had no desire to have oodles of them.

Little Zhou seemed to agree. He enjoyed having the entirety of his parent’s attentions.

Lilith tried in vain to teach him nursery rhymes, but he seemed less-than-interested. It was something that Florence had done with her, so she was adamant. Tsung laughed and asked what she was trying to do to their son–boys didn’t need that kind of influence. She threw a toy at him, causing him to make a hasty exit.

Amusingly enough, Lilith could already see a lot of herself in Zhou. She wondered what exactly what would mean in the years to come.

One afternoon, Lilith came in from the backyard to find Tsung home from work and Mary O`Hanlon in their living room. They had been remodeling the house, but Lilith was sure they had a permit. Tsung was an architect, after all, they didn’t forget those kinds of things!

As soon as she entered, Mary turned and left, a grave look on her face. Tsung looked abashed.

“What was the DA doing in our living room, Tsung?” Lilith demanded, feeling worried.

“Nothing,” Tsung shrugged it off. “She just had some questions about recent developments.”

Lilith’s eyes narrowed, “the ones for Gordon, right? She was here about him, wasn’t she?”

“Just let it go, Lilith.” Tsung said, heading for Zhou’s room. “He’s awake, I’ll get him.”

To further exacerbate Lilith, Kate dropped by later that evening. Lilith wasn’t pleased to see her. She had heard about the whole University debacle and was quite angry.

“You look like you’re smuggling goods, Kate!” Lilith growled. “What were you thinking?”

“Why are you so mad? The lamp worked!”

Lilith’s eyes widened, “are you insane? You’re pregnant, Kate! To a perma-cheat! What did you do to the lamp? Don’t you know anything about consequences.”

Kate ignored her, instead she smiled happily, “we’re getting married, too.”

“Kate, please, listen to me,” Lilith’s anger calmed and her tone became serious, “you need to give me the lamp back. You can’t go around irresponsibly making wishes. Don’t you see?”

“Don’t worry, Lilith. I won’t use it again, I promise.”

Zhou’s move into childhood had been a swift one. Lilith could hardly believe it–she was the mother of a child. She felt old and crotchety. Tsung told her to stop being so melodramatic.

As it turned out, Zhou was a lot like Lilith in many ways. How he chose to channel that, however, would shape his eventual future. For now, he was content with fishing.

———–

Note from Mao: For there being no drama in the actual house, this house sure is tied to a lot of other dramas! Zhou is adorable, he looks like Tsung. I almost wish they’d have another kid, but that’s up to them.

B.S.U. Campus – Round 12: ‘Polyamorous, Pt. 1′

Shang Yu enjoys being a swinging bachelor while Kate seems to think they have an exclusive ‘relationship’. Unfortunately for Shang, he doesn’t quite know how far Kate is willing to go to ensure that her belief is made truth.

Alyssa Anderson and her daughter, Katarina, stopped by the house during their tour of the University. Alyssa was trying to get Katarina interested in furthering her education. Sure, she wasn’t the brightest, but anyone could get into college with the right amount of money. Alyssa was determined that Katarina have a bright future ahead of her.

Shang was more than happy to welcome to the two women. Kate was out, much to Alyssa’s chagrin, but Katarina could have cared less. She was much more interested in Shang.

Alyssa, having been a previous resident of the house, went upstairs to revisit one of her favorite spots–the hot tub. Shang took this as his opportunity to make nice with the mayor of Boreal Springs. Alyssa was older, yes, but she was hot. Her marriage was on the rocks, too, so that meant she was vulnerable. Vulnerable women are always easy to jump up on. Unfortunately for Shang, Alyssa didn’t seem to be as weak and timid as he expected.

“Are you hitting on me, Shang?” She said, her voice tinged with motherly reproach.

“Hey, if that’s what you’re seeing–”

She shook her head, “no. Just no. Don’t think I don’t know about you, Shang Yu. You can take your supposed ‘charm’ and go elsewhere. I’m not some stupid little college girl.”

Shang shrugged and gave her a sheepish look, “who said I thought you were? Maybe I like them older and smart.”

She rolled her eyes, “thanks, but no thanks.”

Shang wasn’t giving up on Alyssa, he was incredibly persistent. However, Katarina was all kinds of hot, too, so he couldn’t resist making some moves on her. Sure, she was young–hell, she was illegal–but it wasn’t like it would lead to anything. Teenage girls were all big teases. When she went to University, though, all bets would be off.

Surprisingly, Katarina didn’t brush him off. She flirted right back, putting forth her own innuendo. The resident campus casanova was pleasantly stunned.

Meanwhile, Kate pondered over the item that Lilith had given her. She was hesitant to use it, but after hearing about Alyssa and Katarina’s visit and the way Shang spoke about them… she knew she didn’t have a choice. He was just confused and needed guidance. Kate was sure this would work. She rubbed the lamp and stifled her scream as the room was engulfed in purple smoke.

“You have need of me, master?”

Kate blinked, still startled, “um… y-yes…”

“I can see what your heart desires…” He grinned, his eyes narrowing. “What do you wish for, master?”

Without asking what the catch was, Kate blurted out, “I want Shang just for me, no one else!”

“As you wish it, master.”

It worked like a charm. Suddenly, all of Shang’s attentions fell on Kate and any outside interests seemed to fade away. It was almost like a dream. Kate never really thought about the repercussions of her actions, nor did she consider that there would be any consequences. She soaked up the attention, unknowing of the battle going on in Shang’s own mind. He felt like he was being controlled and was very much aware of how… out-of-character his actions were.

It eventually faded and Shang was back to his old tricks. Kate was depressed. Wasn’t it supposed to last forever? She contemplated getting the lamp out again.

Anderson 2 – Round 12: ‘Every Me, Every You, Pt. 5′

Florence Anderson and Shaniqua Saunders have been together since college. So far, Florence is unaware of Shaniqua’s infidelity. Will she find out or is she destined to remain oblivious?

Florence had a lot to say about Kate’s relationship with a certain Shang Yu. He was no good and he’d never be faithful. Kate was Florence’s heir, and as such, she expected her to find a respectable mate. Shang had no respect for anything and was just plain lazy. Little did Florence know that her own situation mirrored her daughter’s quite a bit.

It was unfortunate, but Florence’s hatred of Shang caused a rift between her and Kate.

Shaniqua, of course, was a bit more understanding. She had a guilty conscience, it wasn’t like she could talk Shang down. Instead, she simply reasoned with Kate. Florence was just still upset over the death of her mother. This was made worse by all the propaganda being spouted off about Janine being the true leader of the crime syndicate. While it was true that the activity had died down since Janine’s death, no one who knew Janine could believe it.

Gina stopped by often to visit her twin, having finished her novel. She was happy that the Dramatica series had come to an end, but it also left her feeling a little empty. Thankfully, her sister had more than enough drama to fill the hole.

“Look, Shaniqua, I won’t pretend to know your situation… but you can’t keep doing this.”

“I haven’t been seeing him as much,” Shaniqua protested. “In fact, I’m planning on ending it. She’ll never have to know.”

Gina shook her head, “you’re walking a dangerous path…”

The house was empty with all the children gone, so Florence and Shaniqua made an effort to have them over often. Their spouses usually tagged along, although Sara often stayed behind. She took over babysitting duty for Zhou, letting Lilith drag Tsung along to help her through her misery. She loved her family, but they asked way too many questions.

Shaniqua’s supposed ‘final goodbye’ to Ravi turned out to be more than she had anticipated. Florence came home from work early and caught them. Ravi excused himself and Shaniqua was left to deal with a very angry Florence. Surprisingly, she didn’t go off or shout. She simply gave Shaniqua a terrible look and walked out of the room.

Shaniqua would have preferred to be yelled at than ignored. Florence gave her the cold shoulder, ignoring her when she spoke. Eventually, she’d crack, but Shaniqua would likely go crazy with anticipation.

Alyssa dropped by during her lunch break to visit with her older sister. Their mother’s funeral had brought them together after having grown apart over the years. They were both sad over her death and extremely displeased with all the rumors flying around.

Florence had called Alyssa’s cell phone and told her what happened with Shaniqua, bringing her younger sister to her door, her breathing labored. She had not overemphasized her ‘rushing right over’.

“I’m sorry, Florence,” Alyssa said, pulling her older sister into a hug. “This is just a really awful time.”

“It’s probably worse for you,” Florence reasoned. “With the slander going around about mother and election time approaching…”

“Meh, let’s not talk about that. Dad grills me enough as it is.”

“Have you spoken to Ryu yet?”

“No,” Alyssa growled, her eyes narrowed. “He’ll be lucky if I ever talk to him again! How can he say those things about mother? She helped raise him!”

They took a seat at the table, Alyssa removing her coat and settling into the chair. She sighed heavily, looking forlorn. Florence didn’t have to ask why.

“He’s just doing his job, Alyssa.”

“How can you not be angry, too? Our mom wasn’t the best, but I won’t have all this crazy talk. Mom wouldn’t do that!”

Florence sighed, “I know, but maybe someone set her up?”

“Maybe,” Alyssa said, calming down. “I still can’t believe Ryu would do something so stupid. I hate him right now. I thought he loved me… but all he cares about is that stupid job of his. If he cared about me he wouldn’t say all those things about my–our–mom! It just makes me so angry!”

“Derek, too, did you hear? Things are going crazy, Alyssa. I don’t know what to think… both our lives feel like they’re falling apart at the seams…”

Alyssa frowned, “I wish I had signed a prenup like daddy advised. Now what am I going to do?”

Yu – Round 12: ‘Lilith’s Choice, Pt. 3′

Tsung Yu has always held a torch for the extremely difficult Lilith Anderson; will she finally give in or will Tsung find his hopes misguided?

Lilith: Okay, so yeah, I know this is ‘Yu’ and all… but technically, that’s what I am now. What a weird name… Lilith Yu. Oh well. I guess it really doesn’t matter. That’s right, I married Tsung. Why? Well… um… how about we talk about something else? Like the fact that I’m wearing black. What? You think I’d actually wear white? Please. Even I’m not that presumptious–I’ve got no business in white.

After the whole ceremony shindig, Gordon Anderson, Tsung’s best friend since forever, pulled him aside. Tsung is big into architecture and all that. What? I’m not kidding–he’s making some serious cash… not that money has anything to do with my reasoning. Please. Do I look like a Fortune minded girl to you? Anyway, Gordon was talking about his house or something. I guess Tsung built it for him and now he’s got some other things for Tsung to work on.

Now, I get that Gordon is Tsung’s buddy for life or whatever… but I don’t get it. Gordon is… I don’t know. I can’t put my finger on him and that’s what bugs me. Even Sara likes him, but she’s related to him. I guess I am, too… in a weird way. Whatever. I think he’s up to something. Takes one to know one.

Tsung is really good at what he does, I’ll give him that. I’ve got him drafting a plan for me. I’m no good with that stuff–I’m an idea person, not an executor (not the one with the axe!) I’ve got this idea for a device that will let me settle the score with Death once and for all. Of course, I haven’t told Tsung this. I think he’d be a little upset over the fact that I’m still sore over that whole thing with Chuck. I just can’t let it go, you know? I was there, I saw it all… kinda hard to just pretend it didn’t happen.

I guess I should answer the whole ‘why did you suddenly agree to marry Tsung’ question already. Well, you remember that time? It turned out it was enough and I was pregnant. I’m finally showing and of course, instead of telling Tsung first, I had to tell Nathaniel and Sara. What? Don’t look at me like that!

Sara just laughed and asked if I was serious. Nathaniel was horrified. He said that me giving birth should be illegal. I take heavy offense to that! I can be nurturing and caring, that jerk! I hit him real good for that. He’ll be sore for days!

When I finally told Tsung, his reaction mirrored Sara’s. What’s so odd about me being pregnant? I am female you know. I may be half-alien, but I’ve still got all the right plumbing, sheesh. He of all people should realize that!

“It’s just… well,” I could tell he was trying to find a ‘nice’ way of putting it, but he failed. “You’re not, well, nurturing, Lilith… have you ever even held a baby?”

“Oh, that’s great, Tsung,” I had every reason to be upset! People were calling me an unfit mother before I was even technically a mother! “I tell you I’m not ‘marriage material’ and that’s bull, but now you can tell me I’m not mother material? Surely your logical brain can see a flaw in that.”

“I didn’t mean to sound cruel,” he said quickly, looking genuinely apologetic. “It’s just… well, I’m not sure. I’m happy, but worried. Are you sure you’re all right with this?”

“Not like I have much of a choice now.”

B.S.U. Campus – Round 11: ‘Message in a Bottle, Pt. 1′

Shang Yu enjoys the ladies, though he’s finding that a little difficult to do with Kate Anderson constantly ‘cramping’ his style. Sara O`Hanlon is back with Nathaniel Anderson and happy. Gordon Saunders is too busy plotting his future to concern himself with the drama in the house.

Kate likes Shang

Time hadn’t caused any of Kate’s feelings for Shang to lessen. As soon as she saw him, she was instantly in love again. Shang, of course, was completely oblivious… more happy to look at himself in the mirror than notice a former flame’s adoring glances. He was used to it. The ladies loved him, and why shouldn’t they? He was all kinds of awesome, this much was true. His awesomeness was sure to aid in his quest to become a supremely famous rock star.

Shang and Kate

Of course, Shang would bid his time while he waited for the fame and fortune. There were plenty of ladies at University ready and will to adore him, as well they should. Kate was always at the front of the line, as usual. While Shang tried to make it clear he wasn’t a ‘one girl kinda guy’, she didn’t seem to buy it. Whatever. He let her know and if she wanted to ride down the river of denial, that was her choice. No one can fault him for reaping the benefits!

Sara and Nathaniel

Sara and Nathaniel, thankfully, were a lot more stable than Shang and his crazy relationships. They didn’t have any big plans–neither of them were necessarily family-oriented. Sara would graduate soon and likely join Nathaniel. Scandalous, to be sure, unwed and not even engaged!

Neither of them really cared. It wasn’t like they wouldn’t do it eventually… maybe. Sara was just happy to be accepted, finally.

Shang and Tracy

Shang wasn’t just messing around with University girls–he also called up some old acquaintances from the distant island. He even had Tracy come and stay as a ‘friend’. Right, a friend. If anything, she was a friend with benefits. Tracy had her own reasons for going along with Shang’s little charade. She knew he was seeing other people, it didn’t concern her. She didn’t necessarily like him all that much.

She just wanted off that miserable, sweltering island. She wanted to wear real clothes instead of ones made with grass! If she had to grin and bare Shang’s ridiculous ego to do it, then so be it.

Kate attacks Tracy

Unfortunately for Tracy, she didn’t know that Kate had her eyes on Shang long before she had. Kate wasn’t giving up her hold, either. She would go down fighting. She let Tracy know this one afternoon after she had come home from her yoga class. Tracy was shocked, to say the least. She knew absolutely nothing about Kate–she thought all of Shang’s women were… well, not exclusive.

This could be a problem.

Tracy meets Gordon

Tracy snuck upstairs to get in the hot tub while everyone else was asleep. She only had a few more days before she had to return to the island and her anxiety was growing. Shang had another two years before he graduated, while Sara and the other mysterious person living there graduated within the next few days. Tracy was shocked to find the hot tub was already occupied.

Shang had mentioned Gordon, Tracy remembered. He was really Tsung’s, Shang’s older brother, best friend, but Shang and Gordon were good buddies as well. Gordon was a little… strange, Tracy would admit that much. But he was certainly more agreeable than Shang… and better looking, too. Definitely. Why hadn’t she seen him before? Did he only come out at night?

Kate attacks Tracy again

After Kate attacked her again, Tracy decided that Shang was out of the question. It was apparent Kate wasn’t going anywhere. So Tracy would need a new plan. She couldn’t help but think back to Gordon–they had gotten along quite well, in fact, they had a lot in common… if she could just convince him to support her visa, she might just have a way out off that darn island.

———–

Note from Mao: You’re probably wondering about Tracy. She appeared in the Yu update ‘Risky Business’. Her story has been slowing evolving in my mind as I watched her interact with everyone. She doesn’t have any chemistry with Shang and when she met Gordon? Two bolts, no tampering. She also spent a lot of time seeking him out, despite his reclusive nature. So, this should be interesting. And yes, Kate kept slapping Tracy around, though Tracy won more than she lost. Another side note… thinking about changing the layout, so don’t panic if things are… weird.

Oh, and apparently this is where the lamp comes from? I keep getting them now, it’s annoying.

Anderson 2 – Round 11: ‘Lilith’s Choice, Pt. 2′

Florence Anderson is feeling her age and her lover, Shaniqua Saunders, isn’t far behind her. Kate can’t see Shang because he’s off at University, so she feel’s idle and restless. Lilith rejoined the house to collect her thoughts, not wanting to stay with her twin.

Lilith: So, I’m back home. Mom got… old. I wasn’t expecting that, but I was really glad to see her. I wasn’t really ready to ‘strike out on my own’, so I asked if I could hang out for a little while. At least, until I get my feet on solid ground and all that other boring adult talk.

I didn’t say anything about what I had seen way back before I left. It just… wasn’t worth mentioning. Mom probably wouldn’t even believe me.

Lilith ignores Shaniqua

That doesn’t mean I want to sit down and have a ‘pow-wow’ with the cheating liar, though. I know she helped raise me and has always kinda been like my second mom, but what she did is just unforgivable, you know? I don’t bother making nice with her. I just give her one of those ‘I-know-what-you-did’ looks and eat quietly. Ha! See how she likes that, the cheating bag.

Lilith plays a game

I don’t spend all my time hating on my supposed ‘other mom’. I have a job. What? No, seriously! It’s just at night, so I have to find something to do during the day. I don’t just sit around playing video games all day. C’mon, give me some more credit than that. I’m not completely useless.

Truth be told, I’m trying to avoid Tsung. I’m not quite sure how, what, or why… but things got real complicated real fast there. I’d rather not deal with it right now. I’ve got plans–goals!

Tsung talks to Shaniqua

That doesn’t stop him from ‘dropping by’. Right, okay. It’s like being trailed by the mafia for owing them some money or something–I just can’t get rid of him. When he does come over and I’m busy with something else (or trying to pretend I didn’t notice he’s there), Shaniqua talks to him. That’s… not cool. I mean, I know she was with a guy and she’s totally having an affair. So, she likes guys.

I mean, they talk way too much. She acts like everything he says is revolutionary and vital information. Yeah, right! She’s such a kiss-up. She just needs to back off. What’s her deal, anyway? Can’t she see he isn’t into older women? Geeze.

Lilith talks to Nathaniel and Sara

When I’m not busy trying to keep Shaniqua’s tentacles off of Tsung, I’m on the phone with either Nathaniel or Sara. I didn’t move in with my brother because he had this huge sports career ahead of him… only to have a very bad accident after their first brilliantly won season. It really messed him up and now he can’t be in athlete. He got an amazing settlement, though, and a fantastic house. It’s just… I don’t want to intrude, you know? Even twins need their space.

The whole accident humbled him considerably, so I’m hoping he stops being an ass. Sara, too. What’s up with those two? They’re ridiculous. They just need to make up their minds already and stop putting me in the middle. Can’t they see I have my own problems?

Lilith goes to work

See, I told you I had a job–it’s just at night. It’s really great, I’m learning a lot. I bet I know even more than Tsung now. Not that he was ever a ‘paranormal whiz kid’ or anything to begin with. I’ve seen all kinds of crazy stuff that I know no one would ever believe. I’m almost certain my plan will work. See, this is why I can’t get all homemakery with Tsung. I’ve got things to do, you know?

Florence and Kate spend time together

Mom and Kate have been hanging out a lot. I think Kate finally forgave her for the whole ‘Shang’ thing. He’s a cheating liar, too. I haven’t said anything, though. He’s off at University and Kate is safe here with us. She says she’s leaving soon. It’s a big campus, though. What are the chances they’ll run into one another? Besides, would she really be stupid enough to get messed up with him again?

Lilith talks to Tsung alone

The only quiet place in the house when everyone is home is my room, so I decided to talk to Tsung. I was going to tell him why this whole little marriage thing couldn’t happen, but I felt really sick. I almost fell over. What the hell is up with that? Tsung made me sit down and then I couldn’t really say it.

I mean, he wouldn’t understand. He’s all logical and living in the now. He’d never understand my obsession with death. So I just told him he needed to back off. Which was moot, as he never listens.

Shaniqua is an elder

I didn’t have to worry about Shaniqua harassing Tsung. She was too busy celebrating her birthday. Maybe now she’ll realize younger guys aren’t her style. Sheesh. When I asked her about it, she said she was just being friendly. Right! What a bunch of crap.

Oh well. I guess I have to go to work… once the world stops spinning. What is up with that? Buh. I feel like I’m going to puke…

———

Note from Mao: And so we have another Lilith chapter. I know the others weren’t focused on much this time around, but we’ll see Kate after Nathaniel’s house and Shaniqua and Florence really haven’t done anything new. ;)
