Anderson 4 – Round 21: ‘Sledgehammer, Pt. 2′

Roman and Cara are having some difficulities with their marriage, but are too preoccupied with their careers to really take notice.  Little Gregory is growing quickly and is finding he has his own personality quite different from that of his parents.

Roman found himself in the midst of an affair with his store manager, Patricia Moreno.  He’s already put her up in a swanky condo dangerously close to Patrick O`Hanlon (a detail he didn’t realize until it was too late), now she had taken to publicly showing her affection.  If Roman wasn’t careful, he’d find his misdeed plastered all over tomorrow’s tabloids.

He did care for Patricia, especially since he was sure Cara had done something, but it wasn’t so deep he’d ruin everything he built.

It was getting increasingly harder to hide his activities from his family at home.  Gregory was old enough to know that Roman was often gone very late into the night and had taken to questioning him.  Of course, Roman could still blame such things on his businesses, but soon?  Gregory would be old enough to see the signs and then there would be trouble.  Gregory would go to Cara’s side and the walls would be erected.  Roman would not lose his protege.

Of course, the world doesn’t necessarily revolve around Roman’s plans.  Karma would always come to collect.  He received a phone call one pleasant midday, directly in front of Cara, from Patricia.  He moved out of earshot and proceeded to chide her quite sternly for calling his home.

‘I’m sorry, but we need to meet.  Soon,’ Patricia’s voice pleaded from the receiver.

“I can’t, it’s not convenient,” Roman snapped back, looking over his shoulder at Cara.

‘If you don’t meet me, I’ll come there.  This is important, Roman.  I have to see you now.’

Roman sighed and relented.  They’d meet somewhere discrete.  Roman left under the guise of going to check on a business, saying something had happened and they needed him.

What he was greeted with he hardly expected.  Patricia was pregnant.  How long, he couldn’t know.  He could have sworn he had been careful, but he’d never thought to question Patricia.  Roman thought she understood their arrangement.  Apparently, she hadn’t.  Now he was faced with a bastard child his family could never know about.  If the child looked anything like him, it’d be impossible to hide.  He needed a plan and fast.

“Why are you staring at me like that?” Patricia asked, waiting for some reaction past the mild annoyance that crossed Roman’s face.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen,” Roman muttered, glancing around, seeing River Yu behind them.  She wasn’t one for gossip.  Still, he pulled Patricia away from her vantage and continued, “this is a mistake.  A mess.  I’ll clean it up.”

“But Roman–”

His grip on her tightened and her eyes widened, “Listen to me, Patricia.  How stupid do you think people are?  That child could take me down and I won’t have it.  Don’t call, I’ll contact you.  I’ll clean this up.  You’ll do what I say is best.”

Patricia nodded, a little frightened.  She knew it wasn’t good but she truly had thought it was this bad either.

Meanwhile, Gregory was making friends.  He brought Lydia Anderson home from school and while they shared a last name, they shared no true relation.  They quickly became best friends and even though they got yelled at for playing catch indoors, they spent a lot of time at Gregory’s.  Lydia was a little sheepish to bring him to her house, seeing as he was loaded and well, her family was not.

Much to Roman’s chagrin, Gregory also made friends with Emma Davis.  She was Elena Davis’ daughter, Gordon’s adoptive daughter.  It was well-known that Emma and Elena were both very favored by Gordon.  Roman had already set his plan into motion involving getting Gordon back for his trickery, but he really didn’t want Gregory caught in the middle.

Of course, before Roman could truly proceed with his other plans, he had to first take care of his little mess involving Patricia.  As much as he was loathe to do so, he contacted Nevio.  Nevio, of course, had much to say about Roman’s little… accident.

“I knew you were up to something,” Nevio grinned, eyes narrowed.  “But I didn’t think it was that.”

Roman rolled his eyes, “All right, you’ve had your laugh.  Are you done?  Good.  Because now I need to ask you a favor.”

At this, Nevio’s eyebrows quirked upwards, “Me?  Seriously?  This should be good.”

“You’re going to make sure no one ties together the fact that Patricia’s child is mine.

“Oh, right, and how am I going to do that?”

“By marrying her.”

————————

Note from Mao: I really didn’t intend for Patricia to end up pregnant, woops.  Now that she is, I have to add her to the rotation… and well, the easiest way is to stick her with Nevio, LOL!  How convenient that Roman and Cara’s bolts went back to three.  Sheesh.  Sorry it’s taken me so long to update.  I finally got GTA IV running smoothly and well, between that and the crazy hours I’m working, yeah.

Anderson – Round 21: ‘Turn Me Loose, Pt. 5′

Alyssa Anderson is trying her best to make sure her family name prevails, despite her careless son Nevio’s attempts otherwise.  Isolde seems to be a lost cause, but Adora is turning out to be more of an Anderson than anyone expected.

Isolde’s family may think she’s a ‘lost cause’, but she thinks otherwise.  She wants nothing to do with their silly familial ceremonies and rites of passage.  She’s more interested in her teenage love, Timothy, and her interests in the paranormal.  Thanks to Lilith Yu, she’s finding out a ton about the world beyond.  Thankfully, Timothy is respectful of her interests.

Nevio is making his own kind of friendships, much to Alyssa’s chagrin.  It was one thing to mess around with random women from Aperture, but to form relationships with married women from the same street?  Alyssa nearly had a heart attack when she found her son laughing with Virginia Saunders, who is also very pregnant and near her due date!

It was hard to believe she had raised a son with so little tact.

Alyssa certainly hadn’t been an angel herself.  She had ruined her marriage by cheating with Shang Yu, but she had made peace with her past mistakes and she hadn’t seen Shang in a long time.  Unfortunately, while she had meant to focus on her family, she had gotten sidetracked by another–Patrick O`Hanlon.  He was young, way too young, but he wasn’t like the other casanovas.  He was intelligent and skilled in things other than smooth talking.

It was during one of her events that she met up with him again.  He had come to see if there was anything she could do for his friend, Viola.  Alyssa was saddened that she could not, for she had pulled too many strings to get him where he was.

There had been a time, before this, that Patrick had inquired about seriously being with Alyssa.  She was intelligent and interesting, all the things the other women in his life were not.  She was older, but that came with power and position.  Unfortunately, Alyssa had declined and said she was much too old to be someone’s keeper and she had to focus on her family.  It was his first break in showbiz that had been her parting gift to him.  She was only mayor, but she had many, many friends.

It was a bittersweet farewell, for Alyssa knew it would likely be the last time she saw Patrick.  She wished him well.  If she had been younger, maybe, but she knew it was senseless to think such things.

While Alyssa was away for her event, Nevio was causing even more trouble.  Cara had been jogging by one day while he was going out to get the mail.  He stopped and asked after her, noting how she’d managed to get her figure back so quickly after giving birth.  Cara asked after Roman, wondering where he was and if Nevio knew.  Nevio did not.

As she ran off, Nevio began to wonder what his brother was up to that his wife didn’t know where he was…

Isolde knew better than to think Shelly wanted to make peace when she got off the bus with her, but she ignored her instincts and went along with it.  What she got in return was Shelly going over how Timothy and Isolde were from two different worlds and how it would never last, because Isolde was obviously a freak.  Isolde hated the fact that Shelly was technically her aunt and so she couldn’t kick her out.  She had to wait until Shelly left.

Adora, meanwhile, was doing extremely well thanks to Alyssa’s tuteledge.  She brought home straight A’s and her teachers were always beaming about her progress.  Nevio was certainly impressed with his daughter, though he knew it was mostly thanks to Alyssa and not his own awesome parenting.

————–

Note from Mao: Poor Isolde.  Shelly really did come home with her and lecture her.  Alyssa and Patrick really did have a relationship at one point, but it never made it to the blog because Alyssa treated it casually and Patrick did not.  They dated while Patrick was in University and a little afterwards.

Every time he sees her, he rolls up that want, and then sometimes will fear it, too.  But he never wants to marry anyone else.  They went on one last date because I was sure Alyssa would be gone by the end of this round.  Seems she’s got a few hours left.

Yu 2 – Round 20: ‘Turn Me Loose, Pt. 3′

Ryu and Tracey Yu are happy, despite the rocky road they’ve ventured on to get here.  Marcus and Shelly are teens now and just starting to figure out what they want out of life.

Shelly Yu was not happy to hear about Timothy O’Hanlon and Isolde Anderson being together.  She had hoped the rumors were false, but when she saw them together at school, it was too obvious to ignore.  If she didn’t act soon, they’d be official.  That just couldn’t be.  Timothy was supposed to be hers!  They had been picking on one another since childhood, surely that meant something.

That little social reject was not making a fool out of her by stealing her would-be boyfriend.  Sure, they were related, but that didn’t mean Shelly had to like her.

Meanwhile, Ryu was trying to talk some sense into his son.  In a surprising act, Alyssa had phoned him and told him of Nevio’s behavior.  Ryu had hoped that perhaps he could make Nevio see reason, but it seemed fruitless.  He was spoiled and set in his ways.  Ryu was definitely regretting all that time he spent trying to nail down Gordon Saunders… he had almost had him, but well, he couldn’t act now.  Gordon had them right where he wanted them.

“It’s raining, Shelly,” Timothy said, giving her a look.  “Aren’t you worried about your hair?”

Shelly laughed and tried to pretend his was kidding, “Oh, you’re hilarious!  Now, don’t avoid the question…”

Timothy looked uncomfortable, “I was actually going to ask Isolde to the dance, Shelly… sorry.”

“That’s fine, I was only asking because I didn’t want you to be dateless.  That’s what friends do.” Shelly replied, trying not to look as angry as she felt.

Tracey fulfilled her dreams and became the head of the SCIA.  Unfortunately, it meant little.  In fact, it made her feel guilty because she’d never be able to do anything.  Gordon had her firmly in his grasp, any action against him threatened her family.  She sighed and carried the groceries in, as if it were any other night.  She was as much in his pocket as the corrupt officers and city officials.

Shelly was still sore over Timothy’s rejection, but what could she do?  And then, one day at school, Marcus introduced her to his friend, Cole Anderson.  He had the same last name as Isolde, but they weren’t related.  How weird is that?  Anyway, they got to talking and it seemed Cole had a thing for Isolde and was surprised when he saw her with Timothy O`Hanlon, who he assumed to be Shelly’s boyfriend.

Together, they schemed.  They would pretend to be a couple in the hopes of making the other two jealous… and perhaps inadvertantly try to break them up in the process, too.

“I don’t think you should do this, Shel,” Marcus reasoned, giving his sister a look.  “It isn’t right.  Just let them be.  It won’t work anyway, Timothy doesn’t like you like that.”

Shelly rolled her eyes, “For being a boy, Marcus, you sure are clueless.  He’ll care once I’m taken!  Just make sure you keep your mouth shut about it, all right?”

“Fine, whatever, but I still think it’s stupid.”

Marcus and Shelly would often walk to the park and hangout.  Usually they’d be joined by their friends, but with this whole mess, that had stopped.  Marcus missed hanging out with Timothy, but he couldn’t reason with himself that lying was okay, so he avoided his old friend.  Even Cole, too, seemed too busy with Shelly.

At least they still had family time.  Tracey and Ryu had recently added a deck onto the house and with it, a hot tub.  Everyone enjoyed clustering to it after a long day’s work or homework.  It was definitely a place of ‘family bonding’, though Shelly and Marcus didn’t want to venture a guess as to the real reason their parents had purchased it…

——————

Note from Mao: Cole and Shelly have THREE bolts without any trying from me.  Wow.  I was definitely shocked, lol.  Poor Marcus, he’s losing his friends to Shelly!

Anderson – Round 20: ‘Turn Me Loose, Pt. 2′

Alyssa has managed to keep her son, Nevio, from faltering despite the loss of his wife Lacie.  Isolde and Adora, still young, leave their grief behind.  When they think about it, their mother really didn’t have much of a relationship with them.

Despite their age difference, Isolde spent time with Adora, whether it be tickling or talking.  Adora was beloved by everyone in the house.  It was difficult to ignore her.  Thankfully, Isolde was still young enough to be enraptured by her younger sibling’s charisma.  Later on in life, though, she might end up becoming jealous of it…

“I’m not going to be here forever, Nevio,” Alyssa warned her son.  She was trying to get him to think about settling down again, for the girls’ sake.  “What will you do then?”

Nevio made a face, “why do you always have to talk about death?  You’re just trying to bully me into another marriage.”

“Your marriage to Lacie was your own fault,” Alyssa replied sternly.  “You were the one who wasn’t careful.  The girls need a mother figure and they don’t need their father catting around.”

“They have you and that’s more than enough.  As for what I do, I’m an adult.  That’s my business.”

Isolde’s birthday crept up on them all and soon, before their very eyes, she was turning into a young lady.  Unfortunately, she took this opportunity to properly express herself.  She shunned all her former brightly lit clothing and instead found things in blacks and grays.  She dyed her hair a darker shade of brown and painted her face to match.

Alyssa was horrified, but what could she say?  Isolde was still a good girl… but her eccentricity was becoming more apparent with each passing day.

Adora, too, grew up into a lovely child.  She reminded Alyssa so much of herself at that age.  She was gorgeous, too, that was undeniable.  She was the obvious heir, that much was certain.  Isolde showed no interest in the family, but Adora, even as a small child, had been keen to persue the Anderson interests.  Alyssa was thankful that at least one of the kids turned out relatively… normal.

Isolde was growing used to people shying away from her.  She had tried to keep all her curiosities and strange thoughts to herself as a child, but now, she wouldn’t do it any longer.  She was interested in ghosts, vampires, and all things paranormal.  Her neighbor, Timothy O`Hanlon, was the same age as her and while she had been friends with his sister, she didn’t know him very well.

He was woefully normal looking, but he indulged her interests and even participated in her strange conversations.  He seemed transfixed by her oddities.

Some time later, their conversations turned towards a crush.  Without thinking, Isolde took a bold step and kissed him.  She had heard that Shelly Yu was interested in him and so had tried to keep her distance, but he was always around.  It seemed he felt the same.  But they were from very, very different worlds… not to mention what Shelly would do when she found out.

Despite being an Anderson, Isolde was ostracized from the ‘popular’ crowd due to her looks and interests.  The only time they spoke to her is when they were seeking assistance at Alyssa’s clothing boutique.  Isolde had an amazing skill with selling things, which surprised Alyssa quite a bit.

Alyssa just wished she would focus more on selling than asking silly questions.  Isolde was scolded when Alyssa caught her grilling Claude Saunders about his possibly vampiric father.  That was something no one asked about and especially not so bluntly!  There was a known strain between the Andersons and Gordon, Alyssa didn’t want it made worse by her loose-tongued granddaughter.

Isolde was a handful, to be sure.

Not near as much as her father, Nevio, though.  He spent his nights wooing fans and doing indecent things behind closed doors.  Alyssa was fed up with his actions, but what could she do?  She was beginning to feel the weight of the family on her shoulders and was worried about Adora.  How could she possibly managed to carry it once Alyssa was gone?

——————–

Note from Mao: Okay, I’m not 100% better, but I can sit at my computer, so that’s a plus!  I played this before I got sick, the pictures were waiting to be assembled into an update… so here you go!  I really enjoy Isolde and Adora looks a LOT like Alyssa so far. Also, Isolde and Timothy?  2 bolts without trying, meaning they could easily be a 3 bolt.  She is a Knowledge sim.

Anderson – Round 19: ‘Blood Money, Pt. 4′

Alyssa is trying to keep her family afloat, but Nevio married the wrong woman when he chose Lacie. At least little Isolde is cute and normal.

Lacie spent the last part of her pregnancy eating everything in sight, and not very demurely, at that. Alyssa had been talking about remodeling the house to better suit the growing family, but Lacie would always avoid the conversation. Nevio was too busy at work. As long as Lacie kept preoccupied, she wouldn’t have to deal with any of that.

Who gave that old woman the idea that she had control here, anyway?

Meanwhile, Isolde enjoyed talking about the paranormal with her cousin James. He often accompanied his mom, Katarina, when she visited. He was a little startled by his cousin’s odd conversation topics; ghosts, crystal balls, vampires? Yeah right.

Lacie finally gave birth to a baby girl named Adora. She had the Anderson skin and eyes. Alyssa couldn’t have been happier–another girl! Sure, a boy would be better for carrying the name, but the Anderson clan would do well to have another female heir. Nevio had sure screwed it up for the males.

Lacie was just glad to have the squirming demon out of her. She left the baby’s care to Alyssa.

A few nights later, Lacie got an unexpected visit from a mysterious stranger. She was the only one awake, with everyone else fast asleep. It was the wee hours of the morning and when she saw him outside, she hurried out, not sure why. That was dangerous behavior.

She had heard Gordon Saunders mentioned in some conversations, but she had never really seen him. Had he been at the wedding? She couldn’t remember, but she knew he was related to the Anderson family.

“I have an offer for you,” he said simply.

After hearing him out, Lacie grimaced and shook her head, “are you kidding? I’m not leaving all of this! I’ve got money and plenty of it!”

“You don’t have a choice,” Gordon said firmly, motioning with his hands. “This was your last evening at this house, I hope you enjoyed it.

“Oh, right! Like I’m going to listen to you. I’m going back inside.” She moved to leave, only for him to grab her arm.

“You’re not going back in there, Lacie. Your time at Boreal Springs has come to an end.”

Alyssa woke early in the morning to care for little Adora only to find that Lacie was missing. She decided to wait until morning to rouse Nevio, but she had the worst sort of suspicion she had fled. Had she stolen anything? No, everything was here, all the money, cards, everything. It didn’t make sense, but Alyssa didn’t have time to question it… she was going to have upset children to deal with and her son, as well.

Isolde seemed to have the same intuition as her grandma Alyssa and got out of bed only to cry at the loss of her mother. She wasn’t dead, but she was very much gone. No one knew where, but they called the police and reported it. No one expected they’d find her, nor did they expect her to return.

Despite the loss of her mother, Adora grew into a lovely and happy toddler. Nevio made sure to spend more time with both girls and pushed the loss of Lacie out of his mind. He was actually a bit happier without her around, surprisingly. But he wasn’t quite ready to date seriously again, much to Alyssa’s chagrin.

Meanwhile, Isolde was still talking about her favorite topic to all her new little friends. Maggie O`Hanlon wasn’t nearly as taken back. They both talked animatedly about ghosts and graveyards, saying they needed to visit the one down the road when they were teenagers. Their parents would never let them, but surely they could sneak out…

—————-

Note from Mao: Do we have a new Lilith? I swear, all Isolde talks about to anyone is paranormal. It’s hilarious and crazy. Yes, Lacie is gone. No, Gordon didn’t kill her… but he did send her away. Where? Well, that’s the question.

Anderson – Round 18: ‘Gold Digger, Pt. 2′

With Katarina gone, Alyssa is left with Nevio, Lacie, and little Isolde. Poor little Isolde, if it weren’t for Alyssa, she’d be neglected.. can her romance-oriented parents get their act together?

Lacie had mentioned several times how nice it would be to have a hottub, but Nevio was incredibly surprised when he came home one day to see contractors setting up a deck and hauling a huge jacuzzi. Alyssa said nothing, she just shook her head. Nevio was too shocked to speak.

He came around, though. The hottub was an extremely nice addition, even if it did mean he saw way more of Shang Yu than he ever wanted to. Shang had dropped by one day and told Katarina to pack her and James’ things, she was coming downtown with him. They saw more of Shang than they did of Katarina… and Nevio wasn’t quite sure he liked the looks that passed between him and Lacie.

Meanwhile, Alyssa was stuck caring for poor Isolde. She had become an adorable toddler and though she still resembled Jun Yu, Alyssa could now see that she looked quite a bit like Nevio, too. Alyssa loved spending time with Isolde, but worried that her parents had no part in her life. She’d have to kick Nevio into shape, she hadn’t raised her son to be a negligent father!

Of course, she’d have to fish both Nevio and Lacie out of the hottub, first. They spent the majority of their time out there, doing goodness only knows what. Alyssa was really sick of Lacie lazing around the house, doing absolutely nothing. She refused to get a job and she didn’t care for Isolde at all, except to complain to Alyssa that most rich people had nursemaids or nannies to care for their offspring.

Roman had planned on opening his real estate venture in Boreal Springs, but after some advice, decided to put it in Aperture. He gave the lot to Alyssa, suggesting she open a store and save up some funds so Lacie didn’t bleed them dry. Alyssa did more than that, she drug Lacie with her, putting her to work at the register. She was going to earn her keep if she wanted to stay and Alyssa would hear no more of this “don’t you want to move out” business!

(Shoppers viewed here are Aiyana Saunders and Tsung Yu)

Alyssa was happy when she finally got it through Nevio’s thick skull that his daughter needed him and that being an athletic didn’t mean he had to be a complete jerk. He didn’t dislike Isolde, quite the opposite, he just wasn’t sure what to do. Thanks to Alyssa and some help from Katarina, Nevio was slowly spending more and more time with his daughter.

Lacie eventually got out of working for Alyssa by claiming to be pregnant again. Alyssa had to hide her fury when she realized it was true. This woman having another child was just wrong. Alyssa wished her son could see what a little harpy he married, but he was oblivious. Anything she asked for, she got. Lacie had Nevio wrapped around her finger like one of the many platinum diamond bands she owned.

In fact, she even went as far as to suggest that perhaps a bigger ring would be better suited for her finger, given all the pain and tribulation she had to go through.

While Lacie was a vacuum of money and wealth, Isolde was the opposite. She was a happy and smiling child and being around her made Nevio feel considerably better about his life. He knew that perhaps Lacie was not the best choice, but even so, he loved her and that emotion often rendered even the most intelligent of beings foolish.

He just hoped Isolde didn’t take her mother’s bad example and act the same way.

——–

Note from Mao: Poor Nevio, he’s such a patsy. And Shang really did refuse to leave when they got the hottub. He came over once with Katarina and Lacie started swooing over him. He kept trying to put the moves on Alyssa, but she’s over that now. Lacie and him are good friends now, though… and Isolde is ADORABLE. Srsly.

Anderson – Round 17: ‘Gold Digger, Pt. 1′

Alyssa Anderson is newly divorced and has a lot on her plate. Her eldest daughter, Katarina, has returned home very pregnant with the same man Alyssa herself has slept with. Nevio managed to knock-up his girlfriend, Lacie, in University. With a wedding to plan and babies to prepare for, things at the Anderson residence are hectic.

Alyssa wasn’t completely sure how to react to Katarina’s news. The fact that Katarina was pregnant was enough of a surprise, but that it was Shang’s baby? Alyssa felt a little sick inside. Messing around with Shang had been very, very wrong. She could never let Katarina know now.

“Of course you can stay here,” Alyssa said, trying to reassure her daughter. “Just know that Lacie is here, too, until Nevio returns home from University.”

Katarina smirked, “why am I not surprised?”

Nevio came back to the house a few months later to find his sister very pregnant and his soon-to-be-wife just barely showing. Being surrounded by hormonal women wasn’t exactly something he looked forward to, nor did he enjoy the conversations at the dinner table.

“So, am I going to get that big?” Lacie asked, eyes wide. “I hope not, I’ll never get my figure back.”

Katarina ignored the dig and simply said, “it all depends on how big the baby is. I’m actually quite small for how far along I am.”

“It would have been nice if you had told us all sooner, Katarina,” Alyssa interrupted giving her daughter a look.

That night, Lacie took it upon herself to have a talk with Nevio. She was concerned about Katarina being there and was hoping that the eldest child would leave and find her own place to live. It was bad enough Nevio’s mother was still present, but Katarina there threatened her place as head of the house even worse.

“I don’t know when Kat’s leaving,” Nevio replied easily. “She can stay as long as she likes, as far as I am concerned.”

“It isn’t good for us all to be here at once, Nevio. You’re the heir, this is technically now your house. Shouldn’t your sister and mother leave?”

Nevio laughed as if she was joking, “don’t be stupid, Laci. Mom helped build this house, this is her home. She isn’t going anywhere and I don’t want her to.”

Katarina wasn’t quite sure what she thought about her room remaining the same as when she had left it. She had tolerate the uncomfortably small bed and overly pink room for long enough. With the baby coming any day now, it was more than time for a remodel.

She’d have to speak with her mother about it in the morning. Katarina hadn’t planned to stay as long as she had, but she didn’t exactly look forward to being a single mom, either. She hadn’t even told Shang yet.

Of course, Katarina didn’t have to. Alyssa had enough, she knew that it was messy business, but Shang had to know. She phoned him up without Katarina knowing.

“You need to come over, Shang. There’s something you need to… see.”

‘Well, that’s an interesting way of saying it, babe.’

Alyssa sighed heavily, “no, Shang. I told you, that’s over. I’m talking about Katarina.”

‘Kat? Is she okay?’

“Just come over and you’ll see for yourself.”

Katarina was hardly impressed by her mother’s little stunt. She met Shang in her very pink room and let him know that this was not her idea at all.

“I can’t believe she did this,” Katarina sighed, unable to hide her anger.

“I’m glad she did, why didn’t you tell me?” Shang replied, humor gone from his voice. “How long, Kat?”

“It was during the tour, at the island. I came back and well, there it was.”

“Were you ever going to tell me?”

“…I don’t know. I figured it was best you didn’t know and I really didn’t want you seeing me like this. I feel like a beached whale.”

“For being a beached whale, you look pretty hot to me, babe.” Shang replied jokingly, pulling her into his arms and kissing her. “You know I can’t help you out directly… but I wanna be involved, all right?”

“Fine, but don’t get all serious on me about this. It doesn’t change things.”

He laughed, kissing her again, “and that’s why I love you, Kat.”

Katarina gave birth to little James Anderson a few days later. He looked everybit like Shang, only his eyes were big and brown like Shang’s brother’s and his father’s. There was no mistaking it, that much was sure. Katarina idly wondered if he had any of her in him at all. He definitely didn’t look a bit like his namesake would have you believe.

B.S.U. Campus – Round 16: ‘Heir Trouble, End’

Roman Anderson is trying to keep his family name from dropping below its faculties, but his twin, Nevio, isn’t helping any.  To make matters worse, Laci’s plan seems to have worked.

Laci did her best to hide her happiness.  Her plan had worked, not that she had ever doubted herself for a single second.  Nevio didn’t have the same intelligence or cautious nature his brother did and so it was only a matter of time before all their fooling around got them into trouble.  Laci had him right where she wanted him, that money would be hers.

“Are you sure?” Nevio replied, shocked.  His face was nearly as white as his shirt.

“Yes, of course.  I even took two tests and I’ve already scheduled the visit.”

Nevio swallowed, unable to think of a fitting response.  This was not good at all.

As any son would do in a situation like this, Nevio phoned his mother immediately.  Alyssa made the drive as soon as she was able and met with her very anxious son.  She knew what her father, Thomas, would do in this situation… but Alyssa wasn’t Thomas.  She sighed and with a heavy heart, said:

“She can’t stay here, Nevio.  College is no place for a pregnant girl.  She’ll come home with me and then you’ll marry as soon as you finish the accelerated program they offer.  You’re a senior, it won’t be that difficult.”

“B-But, mom–”

“No buts, Nevio.  You can’t just cast her out on the street.  You have to make this right…”

“This is preposterous, mother!” Roman raged, unable to contain himself.  “You’re giving Laci exactly what she wants, she wants the money!  That’s the only reason she allowed herself to get knocked up in the first place.  That lustful skank will bleed you dry!”

“Roman Anderson!” Alyssa scolded, arms folded over her chest.  “I did not raise you to speak like that.  Regardless as to what Laci is or is not, it no longer matters.  She’s now carrying my grandchild.  I will do what I must to ensure that poor thing’s future.  Surely you can understand…”

“No, I can’t,” Roman snapped, turning away from her.  “You’re making a mistake, mother, a very big mistake.  You’ll lose everything.”

Despite Roman’s protests, Alyssa and Nevio went through the motions.  Nevio proposed and Laci was suitably pleased.  She packed up all her belongings and put them in the car with Alyssa.  She had no qualms about quitting University.  It wasn’t like she’d actually need an education–Laci didn’t even plan to work.  There was absolutely no reason to!

Alyssa knew that Roman was right, but she couldn’t bring herself to cast the baby aside.  If anything, it could be saved.

Roman, fueled by his anger, bought a community lot within Boreal Springs and opened it to the public.  It was the end of his senior year and he had plenty of time to devote to it.  With his careful management and financial savvy, it climbed the ranks.  The once lowly general store was now a pivotal business within the small suburb.  Even Mary O`Hanlon came by to congratulate him on his endeavor

A reviewer from Aperture stopped by and was pleased enough to give Roman an award for service and reliability.  Of course, Shang Yu was passing by at the time and more than happy to give his two cents.

“Congrats, dude, and hey, she’s hot!”

Roman rolled his eyes and accepted the award.  He was sure to hang it over the door so that everyone who entered would see it.

With his business ventures begun, it was time for the next thing on his list.  He had kept in contact with Cara Nanale and they had built a relationship, though hardly to the extent of his brother’s.  He proposed to her with the intent of marrying her as soon as the house he had bought was built enough to be a suitable home to the two of them.  Cara was beyond overwhelmed, but certainly happy.  She’d be off the islands and Roman seemed to be very kind and respectful.  Not once had he tried to cross any lines and Cara could wear a white dress with pride.

Of course, she had no idea that Roman was simply protecting his own interests in doing so.  There would be no bastard children to take his wealth, that much was certain.

Note from Mao: Laci’s pregnancy threw me for a loop!  Never have I had YAs get pregnant so easily.  Yikes.  I think I fixed my community lots, which is good.  I really missed having them!!  Roman’s business is almost rank 10 already, haha.  As for Cara, he had a want to get engaged, but never rolled any woohoo wants.  Fortune sims, haha, what are you gonna do?

Anderson – Round 16: ‘Happy?, End’

Alyssa and Ryu’s marriage has been on the rocks for awhile now. Can they settle their differences or is it time to call in the lawyers?

Alyssa found herself at a loss. She had confessed to Florence, but she really didn’t feel any better. In fact, she felt worse. Her guilt was transposing itself into anger and she found herself frequently lashing out at the wrong people. She had to bite her tongue when Roman called to report that Nevio was bringing his gold-digging girlfriend Laci to dinner.

“How can you be so sure, Roman? Maybe you are misunderstanding her..”

“No, I’m not, mother. She’s even gone so far as to hit on me. She’s disgusting and she needs ejected as soon as possible.”

Alyssa sighed heavily, “you know we can’t do that, Roman. If Nevio loves her…”

“Grandfather would have. You know it, too, just as well as I do.” There was shuffling on the other end of the line. “I’ve got to go. We’ll see you Sunday.”

Talking to Ryu was as awkward as it had ever been. They mostly kept their distance, though Ryu had made attempts to build bridges, Alyssa always declined. She just couldn’t get over her own guilt. She knew she had to tell him, but it would have to wait until after the kids visited. No need to make things messy for them, too.

“You need to tell me what’s going on, Alyssa.”

“No, not yet. After the kids have come and gone, I’ll tell you. But no sooner than that. It’s for the best.”

And so Sunday came and Alyssa finally met Laci. She had to admit, Laci certainly looked the part. Was Nevio serious about this girl? Alyssa couldn’t help but notice how much makeup Laci wore. That really wasn’t appropriate. She tried her best to make nice, though, for her son’s sake. She also needed to have a talk with Roman. If there was anyway to remove this woman from Nevio’s life, it needed to be done. She wasn’t fit to be an heir’s wife.

Alyssa went downstairs to see where Ryu had gone to only to find him talking to Tracey Saunders. Inwardly, she bristled. The mere sight of Tracey was enough to set her off. She glared angrily at Ryu and walked into the kitchen, ignoring the fact that Tracey seemed frightened.

“Hold on a minute, Tracey. I’ll be right back,” Ryu assured, patting her on the shoulder.

“A…All right…” she replied, visibly shaken.

Ryu entered the kitchen only to be met with a shower of water. He pushed it out of his face and looked at Alyssa, his own anger flaring.

“What the hell is she doing in the house, Ryu? When the children are here, no less!”

Ryu shook off the water, “what are you trying to say, Alyssa? Tracey just came by because of work. She found something–”

“I’m sure she did!”

“That’s it!” Ryu yelled back, getting in her face. “What is your problem? Why don’t you just tell me so we can stop this stupid charade and get it all over with. Just say it, Alyssa.”

“You act like you already know,” she huffed back, crossing her arms over her chest. Inwardly, she felt as if she might faint.

“Maybe I do,” Ryu retorted, not backing down. “Maybe I figured it out myself and despite that, tried to make this work. But you’ve killed that. So just say it!”

“Fine! I slept with Shang,” she shot back, eyes narrowing. “Are you happy now? But it wouldn’t have happened were it not for that stupid wench in the livingroom!”

“Don’t blame Tracey for your own weaknesses, Alyssa.” Ryu replied, his tone low and full of warning. “I don’t think we need to discuss this any further, do you? I tried, I did, and you threw it in my face.”

“I never should have married you!” Alyssa raged, fists forming at her sides. “Father was right! It’s a shame he won’t be here to see the divorce.”

Ryu shook his head and exited, “I should have known you’d go crazy without your puppet master here to rule your every move.”

B.S.U. Campus – Round 15: ‘Heir Trouble, Pt. 2′

Roman Anderson was Thomas’ intended heir, but died before he could put it to paper. So, now the irresponsible Nevio and his gold-digging girlfriend are privy to the Anderson fortune. Will Roman be able to help his brother or will Nevio dig his own grave?

The three settled into the house as easily as any other. It was a bit small and meager for Roman’s tastes but neither Nevio or Laci seemed to mind. Perhaps what bothered Roman most was Laci herself. She was so obviously in it just for the money. The fact that Nevio didn’t see that or didn’t care was just indicative of his own instability. Roman wished dearly Thomas had the chance to pen his name as heir.

With Nevio in the position, it was likely they would be paupers in less than a year’s time.

The first act of unnecessary excess was the trip to the islands. Nevio insisted that he needed a break, that all the academic pressure was getting to him. At this, Roman rolled his eyes. Pressure? Where? The professors were terrified of giving him anything below a ‘B’ and his work certainly warranted much less. Roman wouldn’t even go into what Laci did to pass. All he could do is shake his head–Nevio had full control of the money now.

Letting his brother to his own devices, Roman went off on his own. It was then that he met up with a very intriguing islander. He had heard rumors ever since Tracey Saunders joined Boreal Springs; that a lot of the islanders hated being stuck on an overrun tourist trap and sought homes elsewhere. Cara Nanale was certainly one of those people. She even refused traditional dress!

She was shy and quiet, though, and made no wicked plans in her head for escape. It was only by chance she happened to cross Roman’s path and catch his eyes. She had a rather plain beauty about her.

Prompted by his frequent meetings with Cara, Roman decided to have a talk with Nevio. The vacation would soon be winding to a close and Roman hadn’t seen one act of restraint on Nevio’s part.

“What, suddenly you don’t think I’m a good heir?”

“Nevio, you know it isn’t that. But you’re making a bad first impression with Laci. Can’t you see what she’s after?”

Nevio shrugged, “so what? It isn’t like I’m going to marry her.”

“That’s even worse, you idiot! She’s going to trap you and then what? You’re so careless you’ll fall easily into the trap. I swear, Nevio, I think mother dropped you on your head too many times! Can’t you look past your own issues and see what you’re doing to our family?”

“Whatever, Roman,” Nevio said, sliding off his chair. “It isn’t like I have to listen to you anymore, anyway.”

Meanwhile, Laci was enjoying the excesses that dating Nevio Anderson provided. So far, her plan was working great. Nevio thought they were just messing around–casual girlfriend and boyfriend. They were being careful, but not careful enough. Sooner or later, it would happen and she’d have him right where she wanted him. Laci wasn’t terribly interested in children, but one would be worth nailing Nevio’s hand down. She wanted that money and no one, not even Roman, would stand in her way.

While it may have seemed Roman was preoccupied with Cara, he wasn’t. His brother’s problems and the family’s jeopardy were always forefront in his mind. In fact, that’s why he paid attention to Cara. She had the right sort of mindset to be a worthy wife of someone with money. She didn’t seem to be easily impressed by material wealth and her willingness to please those around her was more than suitable.

Roman had entertained thoughts of introducing her to Nevio, but soon found he couldn’t put her through that. He wasn’t completely heartless.

On the last day of their vacation, Roman caught Laci away from Nevio. He wasted no time letting her know that he was onto her and he would do everything in his power to keep her from screwing the family over.

“Oh, don’t be stupid, Roman,” she smiled pleasantly, “we both know who has power here. You can’t threaten me.”

“Don’t get cute with me, Laci, it won’t work. I will find a way to excise you much like the tumor you are.”

She moved closer, looking at him through her eyelashes, “why must you be so cruel? Can’t you see what a… nice… arrangement this could come to be?”

“You’re disgusting.” Roman fumed, pushing past her.

She laughed, watching him stalk off, “but I’m winning, aren’t I?”

———

Note from Mao: Roman and Laci are the type that have two bolts but do not get along at all. It’s hilarious watching them tear into one another. Poor Nevio is such a dolt. As for Cara… all I did were cosmetic changes. I’ve done this to a few townies, to remove their defaults/etc. I don’t know what their aspirations/etc are. Somehow, I messed up Cara’s default outfit. Woops, lol. But the only thing tampered with were her skintone and eyes. That’s all! I am really hoping she’s not another Romance sim.
