Yu – Round 14: ‘Lilith’s Choice, End’

Tsung Yu is quite the successful architect and thanks to Gordon Saunders, work is rolling in. Lilith is having her own kind of success while Zhou finds himself enjoying the freedoms allowed to him.

“Okay, one last time… are you sure you want to do this? Bringing the dead back can be pretty risky.”

“The court date is set and she’s our star witness, of course I’m sure.”

“Ha, okay, let’s do this then. No promises, remember. This is my first time…”

Much to Lilith’s surprise, her contraption actually worked. She spoke to death directly and after offering up some personal affects of Katy’s and the enveloped filled with 10k from Ryu, Katy appeared. It took her a moment or two to realize she was alive and after that, she was walking on cloud nine.

“Welcome back, Katy.” Lilith said, beaming with pride. It worked, it really worked!

Lilith excused herself. Tsung would be home soon and she’d need to distract him while Ryu and Katy tiptoed out the back.

“I’m really back, wow,” Katy said, baffled. “And you, you’re… my age.. how much time?”

“Derek is an elder and married to Mary O`Hanlon with three children, Chuck is dead, and Damien has a wife and two children.” Ryu explained quickly. “I’m sorry to do this to you, Katy, but we have to leave.”

“Leave?”

“We’re relocating you to Aperture until the trial. I’ll have to explain everything there. We can’t remain here for much longer, if Tsung finds us, he might tell Gordon.”

“Gordon?”

“Later,” Ryu said, leading Katy out of the room. “Lets go.”

Tsung was completely oblivious to his wife’s extracurricular activities. He had absolutely no idea that Katy Saunders had returned and with her, information on her death and the truth behind Janine Saunders. He also had no idea that it would likely affect his business dealings with his best friend Gordon. Instead, he was too busy scolding his son for cheating at chess.

“Did you just cheat?”

“No,” Zhou replied without a hint of guilt. “I didn’t.”

“You did!” Tsung replied, his eyes wide. “You cheated!”

“I did not! You can’t prove it!”

“Yes you did and I can; your piece was there and now it’s over here and that’s an illegal move, Zhou!” Tsung sighed, exasperated. “What has Lilith been teaching you?”

Not only was his son learning the early ways of being a conman, but his brother was readying himself for a political scandal. Shang stopped by to visit his older brother and to boast about his recent ‘conquest’. Tsung was hardly impressed.

“You did what?!” Tsung nearly yelled, quickly lowering his voice so Lilith wouldn’t hear. “Are you insane? Do you realize how twisted that is, Shang? Ryu is a Yu, he’s related to us, albeit distantly…but still! And she’s the mayor! What’s wrong with you?”

Shang shrugged, “don’t hate, Tsung! You’re killing my high.”

“I’m going to kill you if you keep insisting on sleeping with every woman in Boreal Springs!”

“Nah, don’t worry,” Shang replied easily, a smile on his face. “I’m not gonna do anything to Lilith.”

Tsung’s face dropped–he couldn’t believe the ignorance of his own brother. Were they even related?

Lilith found out she was pregnant again. As with the last time, she had to take off work and spend her days waddling around the house. Of course, when Tsung and Zhou were fast asleep, she would steal out into the night and travel to Aperture to talk to Katy. It was her discovery, after all! She had to monitor her progress and everything. She couldn’t just leave it to Ryu, goodness only knows how he’d mess it up…

“Are you eating cake… for breakfast?” Tsung asked skeptically, giving Lilith an odd look. “Is that even healthy?”

“Don’t be stupid, Tsung,” Lilith shot back. “I’m pregnant, healthy isn’t a concern. As long as it’s chocolate, we’re good.”

He sighed, “the baby is going to come out a diabetic.”

Lilith shrugged, “at least it got to live large in the womb!”

When Zhou wasn’t getting scolded for cheating at chess, he was playing video games with River. Of course, being beat by a girl was simply unacceptable and he made this fact clear. River, however, was adamant that girls could be just as good, if not better, than boys. Their rivalry at the game became heated and both their competitive natures finally had a chance to shine.

In the end, it came out a tie, much to both children’s chagrin.

Mr. Miyagi was an old cat, a really really old cat. So it wasn’t any surprise when his time came. He had been around for the birth of both Tsung and Shang, so Tsung was reasonably saddened by the loss. Mr. Miyagi just seemed happy to get out of this crazy voodoo house.

Lilith eventually gave birth to another healthy, baby boy named Fou-Lu. He looked almost identical to Zhou when he had been that age, but he had Eileen’s blue eyes. Lilith was thankful none of her children inherited her skin. She didn’t need any extra attention on the house with the whole Katy resurrection thing happening. Tsung was bound to find out eventually and boy he wouldn’t be happy…

Note from Mao: Whew, getting Katy back was a pain, but I couldn’t drop it from the storyline as the sims had spent too much time developing it.  If you don’t recognize the Fou-Lu name, then you’ve never played Breath of Fire 4. ;)   I’ll miss Mr. Miyagi, sniff.

Anderson – Round 14: ‘Happy?, Pt. 3′

Thomas Anderson’s days are coming to an end; will it be a natural end or something more dastardly? Alyssa and Ryu’s marriage is quickly crumbling beneath the weight of his case against the former Janine Anderson and now Derek Saunders. Roman remains quiet and studious, but Nevio finds himself unable to cope with the familial distress.

Thomas Anderson watched as his young grandchild Nevio slept. He would never be ready in time. With all the chaos in the house, it was nearly impossible to teach him anything. Had Thomas mad the wrong choice in an heir to his fortune and notoriety?

His days were numbered and he knew it was only a matter of time before the natural processes of life called him to the other side. What he wasn’t too sure of is whether or not Gordon would have a hand in it. The student outdoing the teacher is a common theme.

Alyssa, meanwhile, found herself bored with her life. She was tired of arguing with Ryu and she was even more tired of all the political backlash. She refused to believe that her mother was a Criminal Mastermind! There was just no possible way. Ryu was creating mountains out of mole hills, as seemed to be his thing now.

She was also bothered by the fact that he was always talking to Tracey Saunders. Tracey was young and exotic, but also very much married to Gordon Saunders. Of course, in this day and age, that really didn’t matter. The more Alyssa thought about it, the angrier she got.

Alyssa had no way of knowing that Tracey was just a part of Ryu’s plan to bring down the entire criminal empire. He had suspected Gordon for sometime, but with what Tracey told him, he was even more sure of it. Of course, he didn’t tell her this. He simply comforted her as a friend would and told her she was doing a good job. He felt bad, but Tracey had dug her own grave, really. She wanted off the island bad enough to marry the first person she came across!

Meanwhile, the twins did their best to stay away from all the familial strife. They built snowmen and spent a lot of time together. Poor Roman lost a bet to his brother and was forced to wear their mother’s old snow clothing. It wasn’t so bad, except for the daisy pockets and the pink scarf. It seemed to cheer Nevio up, though, and so Roman suffered through.

He did take advantage of Nevio walking away to put the carrot nose as something else, though.

Ryu also spent a lot of time communicating with Lilith Yu through the computer. It would be best if their connections in this upcoming trial were left secret until the final revealing. Ryu was certain that with Katy Saunders as his star witness, nothing could go wrong. He felt bad for his brother, but he couldn’t forgive murder. This was his job and it had quickly become his passion, too.

Luckily for Ryu, Lilith came through and was ready to do the ceremony. She just had to know ahead of time so she could make sure Tsung wasn’t home.

The twins grew up into hardy teens. The result of all the dysfunction caused Nevio to have pre-conceived notions of relationships. He found them stifling and frightening. People who ended up in steady relationships were guaranteed to be miserable and he swore that’d never be him. Nevio idealized love, though, and so by not tying himself down, he was free to enjoy it without it shattering his ideal. (Romance Sim)

Nevio ended up looking a lot like his mother, Alyssa.

Roman was a little too serious and introverted for such endeavors. Instead, he found that he enjoyed the life his parents and grandfather had provided for him. He was determined to make as much, if not more, than their family had accumulated. Even if he wasn’t heir, he was going to live a life of luxury. Finding a female that felt the same would truly be ideal. (Fortune sim)

Roman took more after his father’s side of the family.

Yu – Round 13: ‘Lilith’s Choice, Pt. 4′

Tsung Yu has finally convinced Lilith to marry him. Somehow, they ended up with a child. Can Lilith step up to motherhood or will she falter and become obsessed with the unknown?

Being a father wasn’t terribly hard for Tsung, he had always been the responsible type and he had helped with Shang a little in his youth, too. However, he was concerned about Lilith. She was extremely busy working on whatever it was she did in her little ‘secret’ room she had made him build. He was worried that whatever it was, it was highly dangerous and needed to stop.

Lilith tried to assure him that it wasn’t. It was simply her own little device to make the unknown suddenly become known. This made no sense to Tsung, but Lilith wasn’t about to elaborate and blow her entire secret.

“Just trust me, okay? It isn’t anything crazy.”

“That’s like saying a bomb is a child’s toy!” Tsung replied, a little flustered. “Why is this so important to you and why are you refusing to tell me the whole story?”

Lilith rolled her eyes, attempting to feign disgust, “because you wouldn’t understand. Just let it go. It’s not some all-consuming obsession. I’ve already finished it. It’s done and over with. Just drop it.”

What she hadn’t told Tsung was that it was that Ryu Anderson had emailed her and would be dropping by while he was at work. It was purely a business-related visit. He had heard of her dabbling in the paranormal and decided that she could help them find out what happened to Katy Saunders.

“I can’t just summon her,” Lilith said, making a face. “What do I look like? A nutjob?”

“What do you need, then?”

“Items, personal affects, something… oh, and money.”

Ryu shrugged, “that isn’t an issue. We have some of her things and well, yes, money isn’t a problem at all.”

“Good. Get ‘em, let me know, and then we’ll arrange it, all right? But it won’t be instantaneous. This stuff takes time.”

Lilith may not win any ‘mother of the year’ awards, but she did her job fairly well. She cared for Zhou when he cried and cuddled him. He was the deciding factor when it came to whether or not she would help Ryu. She had every intention of bringing Chuck back, but now it seemed moot. She didn’t want to be like Shaniqua or Shang. The machine could only handle one resurrection and that would be the one of Katy Saunders.

If anything, she’d have oodles of fun watching the drama storm that would surely follow.

Zhou’s birthday followed not long after Ryu called to confirm he had the personal affects. Tsung was oblivious to his wife’s deeds and happily enjoyed his son. He was fine with Zhou being their only child. He had goals and personal wants, too, and while he loved children… he had no desire to have oodles of them.

Little Zhou seemed to agree. He enjoyed having the entirety of his parent’s attentions.

Lilith tried in vain to teach him nursery rhymes, but he seemed less-than-interested. It was something that Florence had done with her, so she was adamant. Tsung laughed and asked what she was trying to do to their son–boys didn’t need that kind of influence. She threw a toy at him, causing him to make a hasty exit.

Amusingly enough, Lilith could already see a lot of herself in Zhou. She wondered what exactly what would mean in the years to come.

One afternoon, Lilith came in from the backyard to find Tsung home from work and Mary O`Hanlon in their living room. They had been remodeling the house, but Lilith was sure they had a permit. Tsung was an architect, after all, they didn’t forget those kinds of things!

As soon as she entered, Mary turned and left, a grave look on her face. Tsung looked abashed.

“What was the DA doing in our living room, Tsung?” Lilith demanded, feeling worried.

“Nothing,” Tsung shrugged it off. “She just had some questions about recent developments.”

Lilith’s eyes narrowed, “the ones for Gordon, right? She was here about him, wasn’t she?”

“Just let it go, Lilith.” Tsung said, heading for Zhou’s room. “He’s awake, I’ll get him.”

To further exacerbate Lilith, Kate dropped by later that evening. Lilith wasn’t pleased to see her. She had heard about the whole University debacle and was quite angry.

“You look like you’re smuggling goods, Kate!” Lilith growled. “What were you thinking?”

“Why are you so mad? The lamp worked!”

Lilith’s eyes widened, “are you insane? You’re pregnant, Kate! To a perma-cheat! What did you do to the lamp? Don’t you know anything about consequences.”

Kate ignored her, instead she smiled happily, “we’re getting married, too.”

“Kate, please, listen to me,” Lilith’s anger calmed and her tone became serious, “you need to give me the lamp back. You can’t go around irresponsibly making wishes. Don’t you see?”

“Don’t worry, Lilith. I won’t use it again, I promise.”

Zhou’s move into childhood had been a swift one. Lilith could hardly believe it–she was the mother of a child. She felt old and crotchety. Tsung told her to stop being so melodramatic.

As it turned out, Zhou was a lot like Lilith in many ways. How he chose to channel that, however, would shape his eventual future. For now, he was content with fishing.

———–

Note from Mao: For there being no drama in the actual house, this house sure is tied to a lot of other dramas! Zhou is adorable, he looks like Tsung. I almost wish they’d have another kid, but that’s up to them.

Anderson – Round 13: ‘Happy?, Pt. 2′

Thomas Anderson is beginning to feel control slip away from him while his son-in-law Ryu is beginning to feel more empowered. Too bad Alyssa is so angry at him she’s threatening divorce. Katarina could care less about her parent’s problems, instead focusing on University and all the boys there. Roman is too quiet to say anything, but Nevio bares the brunt of their familial discord.

‘That little, worthless piece of Saunders trash,’ Thomas mused angrily, his eyes narrowing. ‘Who does he think he is?’

After Janine’s passing and all the insanity that flared up, Gordon cut himself off from Thomas. He had taken everything Thomas had taught him and brought it back against him tenfold. Gordon was working in a way opposite of Thomas, though. Instead of badgering or blackmailing people onto his side, he was using his existing friendships and charming ways. It was madness. Thomas couldn’t believe this! He never should have let that little rat into his confidence…

Meals in the Anderson household were a tense affair, when everyone managed to gather together. Thomas put on a brave face, but he was too busy with concern to bother interacting. Ryu tried to keep things upbeat, but Alyssa shut him down, hard. The kids usually pretended not to notice, but Nevio found it made him feel sick and queasy when they fought.

Ryu was investigating Derek Saunders and Janine Saunders. Janine had been Alyssa’s mother, and so, Alyssa was not happy that he was dragging her dead mother’s name through the dirt. She felt betrayed and hurt. Of course, Ryu hadn’t really handled it the best of ways, either.

Neither of them had a clue what their teenage daughter was up to, or what she was plotting. She finally gave in to her mother’s demands that she go to University. Her true reasoning, however, she shared with her best friend and cousin Marla O`Hanlon.

“You did what?” Marla gaped. “That’s illegal!”

“I consented,” Katarina huffed in reply. “That’s not important, what is important is what happens when we get to University. Twenty-four-seven party, baby! Can you feel the excitement?”

“I… I kind of want to graduate, you know, Katarina.”

“Oh, whatever. You will. Your mom has clout. We gotta enjoy our youth while we got it!”

Meanwhile, the twins had their own ways of coping. Roman was generally quiet and withdrawn, so he preferred to spend his hours playing chess… against himself. It was challenging to him, he claimed, to try and beat himself at his own game. Nevio preferred to flex his creative muscles and spent time painting. It was a calming activity and it helped him take his mind off the strife between his parents.

Saunders 2 – Round 12: ‘Message in a Bottle, Pt. 2′

Gordon Saunders is the next criminal mastermind, but everyone’s too focused on Henry’s confession to realize it. Tracey Royce is just happy to be off the island, unknowing of her part in his criminal workings.

Tracey was incredibly surprised at how pliable Gordon was. They had spoken a little during University, but it was only after graduation that they had dated–very mildly. When the issue of her being chained to the island came up, Gordon offered to help her without so much as a second thought. Tracey was too overjoyed to realize that Gordon had his own agenda for marrying her. He was laying low in the wake of all the controversy his father had stirred up and being married would take even more attention off him.

It was a quick and effortless ceremony, as neither of them were much into show boating.

Tracey did feel bad about not being completely honest with Gordon, but she felt that it was only proper. He would never have agreed if he knew she still hadn’t ‘cut things off’ Shang. In fact, he didn’t even know she had been dating Gordon, as she had been seeing Shang all the while, too. She didn’t really care about Shang like that, though. Why she continued to see him, she wasn’t sure. Maybe guilt?

Either way, it was worth it. She was off that dreadful island and able to embrace her freedom. She tossed out her grass skirt and leaves, trading them for heels and more modern dress.

Gordon had retrieved his dog, Lord Snow, from his nephew Damien. He had missed his pet quite a bit, as it was his only reminder of Janine that wasn’t tied to criminal behavior. Lord Snow was just as happy to see him, thankful to get away from the crazy hippies that now inhabited the Saunders house. Lord Snow didn’t take very kindly to Tracey, though.

Shang stopped by one day while Gordon was at work to confront Tracey. Sure, it was a bit hypocritical… but Gordon was his friend. That just was not cool. It also didn’t help that Shang realized what Tracey had been up to all the while.

“You’re a damned whore,” he hissed, jabbing his finger into the air, threatening Tracey. “You’re using him? That’s low, Tracey, even for you.”

“Shut up, Shang,” Tracey shot back, eyes narrowed. “I actually like Gordon, and I have since I started visiting you at Uni. It was you I was planning to use, but you’re the biggest whore of them all! You use everyone you come into contact with!”

“That’s shit and you know it. I’m telling Gordon.”

“Get out of my house, Shang. Now.”

Tracey actually did care about Gordon and being around him daily made those feelings develop into love. She had been initially attracted to him, of course, but he was very sweet and charismatic, it was difficult not to become attached in a deeper way. It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, it made the marriage less of a farce and certainly helped rid of some of the guilt Tracey felt.

Despite her feelings, Tracey couldn’t help but feel like there was some sort of invisible wall there in Gordon’s head. He was very distant, regardless of his smiles or jokes or attempts at being light-hearted. The more time she spent with him, the more she realized how hollow all those things she had grown to love were. It seemed like an act, but why? Was he still saddened over his mother’s death and his relatives raking her over the coals, even in death?

She knew it was best not to question it and just pretended not to notice. She was certain he had some genuine sort of character to him, he just kept it hidden.

What Tracey didn’t know is that Shang was good on his threat and stopped by one day to talk to Gordon. He told Gordon everything, but surprisingly, his friend simply smiled.

“I know.”

“What?”

“I know, Shang. It’s all right. Tracey is no longer your problem.”

“Uuh, dude, did you hear me? She’s usin–”

Gordon placed one of his large hands on Shang’s shoulder, gently guiding him towards the stairs, “don’t worry about it anymore, all right? Thanks for telling me. Visit when you’ve graduated, won’t you?”

Shang left feeling completely baffled. Something about Gordon’s cool demeanor put him on edge, but he tried to ignore it. Tracey wasn’t his problem anymore, this was true. Let Gordon deal with her…

Tracey had a surprise visitor of her own. Late one night, just as she was finishing up dinner, a knock came at the door. Hesitantly, she peeked out and was surprised to see Gordon’s half-brother, Ryu Anderson, at her door. He was one of the top dogs on the case against Janine Saunders. She opened the door, not wanting any trouble with the law. Gordon was at work.

“Don’t be so afraid, Tracey. I’m not here to interrogate you.” Ryu said, laughing. “We’re family.”

“O-Oh, yes, right… what… what did you need then? If you don’t mind me asking? Gordon is at work–”

“I know, that’s why I came.” Ryu interrupted, his tone suddenly becoming serious. “I have an offer for you, Tracey. You’ve been here a year, haven’t you… and you still haven’t found work? What if I were to say we needed some good people on the force?”

“I… I don’t know what to say… but I’m, well, not qualified.”

“Sure you are. Why don’t you come by tomorrow and we’ll talk? Mrs. O`Hanlon is quite interested in meeting you, too.”

“T-The… district attorney??” Tracey replied, baffled. “but–”

“Shh, just come by, okay? See you tomorrow.” He said, turning towards the door. Before he left, he half turned and put his finger to his lips. “Uh, keep this quiet, won’t you? With everything going on, we need to not cause anymore chaos.”

———-

Note from Mao: Ahh, the plot thickens. I was so happy when Shang KEPT VISITING. It was cracking me up so bad. Silly Shang. I had no idea Uni kids would visit by themselves… as for Ryu visiting Tracey… lets just say Tracey’s LTW is to be head of the SCIA… HOW FITTING, RIGHT? OHNOES GORDON.

For those of you curious, here’s the hood at the end of all the houses of round 12. Next up, Uni.

Anderson – Round 12: ‘Family Business, Pt. 2′

Thomas Anderson has a lot on his plate and he couldn’t be happier. Jun is feeling her end is near. Alyssa and Ryu seem to have recovered from their problems. Katarina is on the cusp of teenhood while her little brothers, Nevio and Roman, are about to become children.

Thomas wasn’t surprised to see Janine and Gordon walk through the door of his office, in fact, he had invited them. It was nearly 1 am in the morning and the entire house was asleep. Gordon had recently graduated from Boreal Summit University and was currently moving into his own house down the street. He had spent the last half of his teen years and the entirety of his college ones training to become the next big criminal mastermind.

Of course, he couldn’t take it yet, Janine was still alive and she refused to force him into the fray without preparation. So, he began doing small jobs and things under Thomas before he would move on to the more nefarious deeds with Janine.

After Gordon was excused, Janine pulled Thomas aside. At first, he was curious about this change. Janine had kept her distance from him for the past year, so for her to want to be alone with him? It was certainly questionable.

“Do you think he’s ready?” Janine asked suddenly, worried.

“Perhaps,” Thomas replied, shrugging. “We’ll see, won’t we?”

Janine looked off to the side, “I don’t think I’ll be able to finish… training him.”

“Whatever do you mean, Janine? Do you suddenly find yourself incompetent?” Thomas replied, smirking. He was kidding, of course.

“No, Thomas,” Janine replied gravely, shaking her head. “I’m dying.”

Katarina Anderson was a pretty girl; she was charismatic and easy-going. Unfortunately, Katarina Anderson was not smart by any means. She struggled quite heavily with her schoolwork as the years pressed on. She was behind in several subjects and her frustration was compounded by the fact that her mother was certainly above average intelligence-wise and her father wasn’t far behind.

It was hard not to feel like a complete failure. She tried, she really did, but it just never made any sense. Tutors were hired and fired, tests were done, teachers were talked with… but there was nothing truly wrong with Katarina… she just wasn’t, well, bright.

Thomas was definitely thankful that Nevio was his selected heir. Katarina was a sweet child, but he’d need someone with quite a brain to take his position. He hadn’t quite reacted to the news Janine had given him–he wasn’t exactly sure how. So, instead, he bought a cat named Caprica. Every evil genius needs a cat, right? Caprica hated Jun and Jun hated Caprica. It was a very amusing situation.

Thomas was also amused to find that Nevio was quite fond of Caprica. Of course, Caprica wasn’t quite pleased with the attentions of a toddler. Still, it was a good sign, Thomas estimated. Nevio was perfect. Now he’d just have to wait for him to grow up and help him along the way. It would take a long time for Nevio to be fit to take his place.

Alyssa, meanwhile, was completely oblivious to her father’s plans and even more oblivious to her mother’s fate. Instead, she focused on keeping her marriage from becoming like her parents. Things had slowed down for the task force so she was finally able to get Ryu away from his books and his computer. He was writing another book, but without the strain of work, Alyssa found ways of directing his attention back to her.

The twins had their birthdays and both developed in handsome little men. Nevio was the more outspoken of the two, thanks to Thomas. While he might look like Ryu, he certainly resembled his grandfather in his personality. Roman was a little more withdrawn, content to watch everything from a distance. No one was quite sure where his personality came from, only that it was different.

Katarina also had a birthday and became quite the lovely young lady. Unfortunately for her family, all she cared about were parties and boys. Marla O`Hanlon was her best friend (and also her relative, but the family tree was so convoluted they resigned to be BFFs, OMG!) She stopped doing her schoolwork entirely, finding it better to have others take care of it for her. Any ideas her parents had of her going to college flew out the window.

She was on the fast-track to becoming your stereotypical spoiled, rich kid. Thomas just hoped she wouldn’t hurt her mother’s re-election campaign.

Jun, meanwhile, felt death creeping up on her. Her time had come, she knew this. She had caused enough trouble–it’d likely last several generations. She was pleased with all that she had done, and was ready to move on to whatever was next. Before dying, she requested that nothing big be made of her death. That wasn’t hard, as she had more enemies than friends.

——

Note from Mao: And another generation 1 adult dies. Sheesh! They’re dropping like flies. Alyssa and Ryu’s kids are so cute. I love genetics.

Anderson – Round 11: ‘Dirty Dealings, Pt. 3′

Thomas Anderson is currently the most powerful man in the area. This is made even more true by the fact that his daughter, Alyssa, is mayor. Of course, Thomas’ lover, Jun Yu, can’t seem to keep her nose out of other people’s business and his son-in-law Ryu is on the task force made specifically to bring his operation down. He’s hoping that Katarina will be strong enough to be heir.

A tense dinner

Dinners were tense affairs at the Anderson house. Ryu and Jun kept quiet while Thomas went on about politics, coaching Alyssa for her next speech or appearance. She would usually nod and chew quietly, though it was obviously she wasn’t listening. Her vision would drift off and at times she’d even kick Ryu under the table, shooting him a look that said, “help, please?”

At this point, Ryu would make a comment and Thomas would turn his attention away from Alyssa long enough for her to escape.

Ryu and Jun argue

It wasn’t easy for Ryu to be in the same house as his mother. She had left him as a child to come live here in luxury. His father, Henry, and Janine had raised Ryu and for that, he was grateful. He had no time for Jun now and wasn’t about to act like the past had never happened, which he let her know explicitly. Jun was startled, to say the least, when he attacked her after she made an off-hand comment about what a puppet Alyssa was.

There would be no nice resolution to this unfortunate situation, that much was sure.

Alyssa is pregnant

Alyssa had been feeling a little under the weather lately. She was suspicious as to her condition’s reasoning and phoned the doctor. Sure enough, she was pregnant again. It was very surprising, given how little time she had actually spent with her husband the past few months.

While she was happy, she knew that her father would have something to say about it.

Thomas talks to Alyssa

Sure enough, Thomas approached her not long after she arrived home. She was nearly three months along and not quite showing, but he still knew. It was Thomas’ way to know everything that happened, especially under his own roof.

“You’re pregnant again, aren’t you?”

She sighed, “yes, daddy, but I’m happy–”

“Excellent,” Thomas said with a sly grin. “This will be very good for your approval rating–mother of three and mayor! They won’t be able to deny your dedication–”

“Daddy!” Alyssa snapped, but quickly quieted her voice. “I’m sorry… but my children aren’t political stepping stones. Just stop, okay? I have to go lie down…”

Katarina is a child

Meanwhile, Katarina’s birthday had come and gone and she was now a beautiful little girl capable of individual thought. Her personality wasn’t quite definable–she enjoyed a vast array of things. She seemed particularly enthralled with Science, but the active side of her had a penchant for Sports activities. Her favorite thing to do was to watch movies with her father. He was a literary buff and while she wasn’t nearly on his level, she idolized him enough to want to emulate him. That’s right, Thomas had lost Katarina. She loved her family, but it was obvious who she seemed to trail after the most–Ryu. Anytime he was home, she was usually with him. The fact that Alyssa was pregnant made Thomas not feel the loss. There would be others…

Ryu talks to Alyssa about the baby

Ryu was also quite pleased by the news. He was Family-oriented, after all. All his work towards ridding the town of its criminal leanings was for the benefit of family welfare. Unfortunately, it took him away from his own, something he realized quite quickly after Katarina’s birthday and her insistence on following him everywhere.

He had nearly forgotten that Alyssa was still her father’s little puppet and felt badly. He would need to pay more attention and be a bit better at allocating himself in different areas of his life.

O`Hanlon – Round 11: ‘Little Secrets, End’

Mary O`Hanlon has no idea that Derek is involved in the very criminal organization she’s trying to out. Gina Saunders is becoming quite the prolific author, while Marla and Julie are enjoying their oblivious years as children.

Mary talks to Derek

“I don’t understand what the big deal is,” Mary said, giving her husband a look. “I’m doing this to protect our children.”

Derek sighed, “it’s too dangerous, Mary. You should just let the task force do their job and stay out of it.”

“I couldn’t do that even if I wanted to, which I don’t. I’m the District Attorney, I need to support the task force and make sure that everything is according to the books. I can’t just sit by idly and wait for something to happen.”

“It isn’t worth talking about it now, especially not in front of Julie.”

Mary talks to Ryu

Later that day, Ryu Anderson turned up. Of course, they met in secret. It wasn’t the first time and it certainly wouldn’t be the last. They stood in the garage, Mary making sure the door was locked. Ryu was at the head of the task force and they had been working together for months.

“You’re not going to like this,” Ryu began, giving her a sympathetic look. “Even I’m having trouble believing it.”

“What? Have you found out the identity of the crime lord?”

Ryu shook his head, “not exactly… we’ve just found some sketchy evidence involving the Katy Saunders case.”

“Excuse me?”

“It wasn’t an accident, Mary,” Ryu began somberly. “She was murdered.”

Mary confronts Derek

Mary took some time to let what Ryu told her sink in. Katy Saunders was murdered. Her husband’s ex-wife was killed in cold blood, in her own home, while she was four months pregnant. It was a sickening thought. She couldn’t help but question Derek’s involvement, despite better reasoning. She pulled him aside in an attempt to confront him.

“What’s going on, Mary? Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Did you know?” Mary began, ignoring his questions. “Did you know that Katy was murdered?”

He blinked, clearly stunned, “wh-what?”

“The case was re-examined for any possible ties to the criminal syndicate we’re investigating… and it’s been found that Katy was murdered, she didn’t die accidentally.”

Before Derek could respond, Marla came bounding into the room. Derek and Mary shared a quiet look before addressing their daughter, who insisted that one of them help her with her homework.

Mary asks Gina

Mary just couldn’t get the idea of Derek being involved off her mind. She went to Gina, hoping to find some answers. Unfortunately, Gina wasn’t nearly as receptive to Mary pegging her brother as a murder as she thought.

“Are you crazy? What kind of question is that?” Gina replied, clearly offended. “Derek wouldn’t do something like that.”

Mary looked sheepish, “I… I know… it’s just… everything is so crazy. I don’t know what to believe anymore. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.”

“No,” Gina replied, softening, “it’s okay… I understand. What happened to Katy was tragic, but Derek could never do something like that.”

Mary nodded, heading towards the door, “you’re right. I’m just being silly.”

Derek calls Janine

That evening, when he was sure everyone was asleep, Derek snuck out of bed and went for the phone. He quickly dialed Janine’s cell phone and waited for her to pick up.

“Derek, I told you not to call from your house!” Janine scolded, her voice a quiet whisper. “What is it?”

“She knows, about Katy,” Derek said hastily. “They know it wasn’t an accident.”

Janine took a deep breath, “damn it, Derek. Where is your head? Hang up the phone!”

Derek did as he was told, not noticing that Gina had woken up and was headed for the bathroom. Upon seeing her brother, she quickly moved back into her door and waited for him to return to his room.

Anderson – Round 10: ‘Happy?, Pt. 1′

Thomas Anderson still has everything in the palm of his hand, including his girlfriend Jun Yu and his daughter Alyssa. Will the arrival of Ryu and Alyssa’s first child cause an issue?

Ryu and Thomas argue

Tensions between Ryu and his father-in-law, Thomas, had been building since he moved in. It had only gotten worse with the arrival of Katarina. Thomas spent a lot of time with his granddaughter, though Ryu questioned his motives. Ryu was on the police force and was becoming more and more aware that Thomas’ business dealings were hardly what one would call legal.

“You’d best watch it, Ryu,” Thomas warned. “I’ve allowed you here only because my daughter seems to have grown fond of you… but I’m sure if something were to happen, she’d recover.”

“Are… are you threatening me?” Ryu said, quite surprised. “I thought you were smarter than that, Thomas.”

“We’ll see who is smarter,” Thomas said casually, turning towards the door. “Remember what I said.”

Ryu is fulfilled

Thomas’ threats couldn’t bring Ryu down. He reached the top of the heap. He was part of the secret crime fighting unit–the leader of the task force that had been formed to combat the recent upswing of organized criminal activity. He was certain Thomas was involved, though he didn’t have any proof.

If only he knew his step-mother, Janine, was in the same boat.

Jun is fulfilled

Jun, too, found that she was quite fulfilled in her life. Sure it had been a little rocky now and again, but then she found someone rich and now she didn’t have to worry about anything. She really didn’t care if he was doing shady dealing or screwing his ex-wife. What did it matter to her? As long as Jun had an elegant roof over her head and didn’t have to exert herself, she was quite content.

Alyssa plays with Katarina

Katarina’s birthday crept up on them and soon she was a mobile toddler ready to wreak havoc on the house. She was quite cute, though and seemed to favor Ryu when it came to her facial features. Alyssa was unsure about being a mother, but she did try. She meant well and spent time with Katarina when she wasn’t working on her campaign. She was so close to becoming mayor she could taste it. Once she reached her goal, she could take some time off and maybe enjoy life a little more.

Ryu teaches Katarina a nursery rhyme

Ryu was over the moon, of course. He was a bit more family-oriented than his wife. He spent as much time as he could with Katarina, trying to broaden her horizons. She didn’t care too much for nursery rhymes, though. Ryu was surprised that she much preferred when he read her books. Perhaps she took more after him than just her looks.

He tried to keep Thomas away from her, worried that he’d try and brainwash her like he seemingly did to poor Alyssa. Ryu was determined that Katarina wouldn’t become one Thomas’ subservient little puppets.

Alyssa is fulfilled

Alyssa returned home one afternoon walking on air. She was finally mayor! It felt good to be on top, though the only thing she could think of now was taking a vacation. She had missed out on a honeymoon, thanks to her father. She was completely oblivious to Thomas’ true motives.

Anderson – Round 9: ‘Misery Business, End’

Thomas Anderson has the world at his finger tips, including his girlfriend, Jun Yu, and his daughter, Alyssa Anderson. Now that Alyssa has graduated and is preparing to marry Ryu Yu, can Thomas maintain his hold?

Alyssa and Ryu get married

Alyssa and Ryu were married immediately after graduation, as per Thomas’ orders. It was the only way he’d allow it to happen–Ryu would not live in their house otherwise. Oddly enough, during the ceremony, Thomas found himself seated next to Gordon Saunders. It was a bit odd, seeing his ex-wife’s spawn with his hated enemy. So much so, it nearly distracted him from the rest of the ceremony.

Alyssa and Ryu get married 2

As Thomas watched, he couldn’t help but think Alyssa hadn’t been so foolish after all. If Ryu really did care about her, he’d be less inclined to cause trouble. Everything had to be in perfect order for Alyssa’s political career to take off. She was on her way to becoming a judge right now, but that was only the beginning.

If Alyssa could keep Ryu in line, everything would be fine. Nevermind that Ryu’s mother, who left him as a child, was Thomas’ own live-in girlfriend.

Janine talks to Derek

The wedding party was huge and included Alyssa’s mother, Janine, and her step-siblings. Janine situated herself next to Derek. He’d been getting jumpy lately and it didn’t sit well with Janine. Wedding or not, he needed to be reminded that what happened to Katy could not be made public.

“Just keep quiet and everything will be fine,” Janine said through her teeth, smiling broadly.

Derek did the same, “I think Mary suspects something.”

“Nonsense,” Janine replied. “She’s busy with the twins. Just act normal and forget about it. Everything will be fine as long as you keep quiet.”

Ryu talks to Alyssa

There was no time for a honeymoon, Alyssa had to be sworn in as a judge the next day. Alyssa had wanted a nice few days on the beach, especially since Thomas had recently purchased a vacation house, but it wasn’t finished yet. They’d have to wait until Alyssa was secure in her seat as Mayor to take their belated honeymoon.

During his stay at the Anderson house, Ryu caught on quick to the ‘way of things’. Thomas ran everyone. He told them what to do, when to do it, and how it should be done. It was unnerving and Ryu couldn’t help but suspect Thomas’ motives for pushing Alyssa’s platform when it came to her career. He confided this to her one afternoon.

“Daddy just wants what is best for me,” Alyssa responded, brushing off his accusations. “Sure, he’s controlling, but it’s his way of showing he cares. It always has been–ask Florence!”

“It just doesn’t make sense,” Ryu countered, not falling for it. He didn’t trust Thomas, but he certainly feared him. “He’s up to something, Alyssa. Just be careful.”

Alyssa rolled her eyes, “just because you’re afraid of him doesn’t mean he’s a bad man, Ryu.”

Jun Yu is an elder

Meanwhile, Jun Yu found herself much older and not so much wiser. She certainly didn’t feel like an old granny, so she refused to dress like one. She dyed her hair and bought some new, flattering clothes. Why dress like an old biddy? She was still young at heart and certainly the best looking woman of her age group, to be sure.

Ryu is worried about Alyssa

Several months after the wedding, Ryu began to notice a change in Alyssa. She was taking frequent naps and would run off without explanation, only to emerge sometime later with a pale face and glassy eyes. To say he was worried would have been an understatement. When he heard her get up from her nap and stomp through the hall, he hurried up the stairs and caught her in the bathroom.

“Are you all right?”

She jumped, and turned to face him, clearly surprised, “wh-what are you doing?”

“I heard you get up and run, I just came to check on you,” he said, giving her an odd look. “Are you sick?”

“No, I’m fine. Just some bad lobster–that’s all.”

Thomas trains Alyssa

Truth be told, Alyssa had been feeling ill for nearly two weeks now. It made it hard to concentrate when he father ran her through her speeches. She was a senator now, only a step away from election. She really need to be on her best when it came to preparing, but she just couldn’t focus.

“Alyssa, what’s wrong with you? What has any of this got to do with violins?” Thomas said, his eyes narrowing.

Alyssa sighed heavily, “violins? Was I talking about violins?”

“Yes,” he replied, eyebrows raised. “You were.”

“Oh, I’m sorry–” Suddenly, her face paled. She ran off towards the bathroom without another word.
