Yu 2 – Round 24: ‘Karma Chameleon, Pt. 2′

Tracey Yu is hoping that her son, Marcus, can eventually settle down with a ‘nice’ girl… and stay away from Kit Knight.

Tracey is very concerned for her son’s future.  Sure, he’s gotten away from Kit Knight, but his habitual dating isn’t really something Tracey enjoys enduring.  She wants to see her son prosper and find love.  Marcus is just a bit too easy-going for marriage and commitment, though.  He isn’t like Shelly, who jumped at the chance to join a family with money.  He’d rather sit back and relax, following the general flow of life.

To please his mother, he introduced her to his casual girlfriend, Valerie Alioto.  They had dated briefly as teens, but moved too fast and made things awkward.  They reunited at the end of University and Valerie even went with Marcus to his sister, Shelly’s, wedding to Cole Anderson.  Now she was meeting his mother.  It wasn’t that Marcus didn’t like Valerie, he just liked the slow, plodding pace of their relationship.  No demands, no requirements, just fun and companionship.

Eventually, Valerie ended up moving in, not to put pressure on Marcus… not at all.  She felt the same way about things as he did, but simply to put his mother’s mind at ease.  Marcus wasn’t running around, dating random women, he was just taking it slow with Valerie.

Valerie was thankful, because she wasn’t much of a ‘house frau’.  She burned everything she touched.

It was, however, very nice to be always at one another’s beck and call.  They especially enjoyed the times that Tracey was at work.  Neither felt any pressure to go beyond simply boyfriend and girlfriend.  Marcus worked as a lazy photographer while Valerie was still looking around.  Truth be told, she couldn’t tell Marcus what she really wanted in life.

Instead, she opened a gaming hall that was really a front of illegal betting and gambling.  High-stakes card games were all the rage behind the hidden doors of the neon lights and pinball machines.  The business made good money on its own, but Valerie was hoping to attract some… other attention.  She wanted to meet with the illusive Gordon Saunders and offer her skills to him–she was quite adept at running fronts and even some extortion.

When Sade Saunders dropped by, needing to blow off some steam, Valerie invited her into the private rooms.  It was daylight and nothing was going down.  Still, Sade was Michael’s wife and Michael was Gordon’s eldest… a good way to get in.

Unfortunately, Valerie couldn’t have foreseen what came next.  She began to feel sick and weak, then came the afternoon naps.  She found herself unable to run the night games and instead had one of her trusted people on the job.  She sat down with Marcus and tried to explain what had happened.  That she was expecting an addition to their nonexistant family.  Marcus was quite stunned.

The worst happened after that.  Tracey Yu’s time was up.  Marcus was bereft and Valerie was speechless.  She felt for Marcus, but somehow, it seemed to work in her favor.  Tracey would have been a wedge, a wall in her path to try and get to Gordon.  It was well-known what had happened there.  So, he wouldn’t see her kindly if Tracey were still around…

It was unfortunate Tracey did not know Valerie was expecting.

Note from Mao: Sorry for the impromptu hiatus.  RL is insane right now and I’ve been very ill.  Feeling better now, but I haven’t played since I finished this update.  So they may be sparse.  We’ll see.  Valerie wants to be a criminal, but to do so, must somehow befriend Gordon.  ;)   I think she and Marcus were a victim of ACR’s risky woohoo.

Yu – Round 24: ‘Togetherness’

Tsung Yu is still mourning the loss of his dearly-departed wife, Lilith.  Zhou and River are enjoying their roles are parents to young Fujin.

While Tsung was certainly despondent over the loss of his wife, he was still a doting grandfather.  He whittled away his sorrows by immersing himself in the burgeoning family he’d built.  Even his sons seemed to be swept up in the current, also mourning the loss of her eccentric mother.  Lilith was odd, but she had been the keystone on which the foundation of the family had been built.

Fou-Lu visited often and took to teasing his older brother.  It was all in good fun and Zhou easily got him back.  Many a noogie Fou-Lu had suffered at the hands of the more capable and physically strong Zhou.  Still, they were brothers and though their differences were obvious, they got along, especially in the wake of their mother’s death.  It made their father’s imminent demise all the more palapable.

Fujin didn’t remain small for long.  He was soon a child and doing child-like things.  He was smart, much like his mother, with a keen sense for science and bugs and nature.  He loved playing with his ants and would wave to them when it was time to go to school.  Zhou would never say it aloud, but his son’s… geekery bothered him.  Tsung had been a bit of a nerd, and River, too… but both of them had protection.  Tsung had Lilith, while River had Zhou.  Fujin was on his own.  What would he do if he was bullied?

Zhou was, however, thankful for Fujin showed absolutely no interest in the paranormal.  He thought it was silly and scientifically impossible.  River agreed, and Zhou said the same, just so his son wouldn’t go sneaking into grandma Lilith’s old room and play with her things.  Tsung remained quiet, not saying anything at all.  He hadn’t believed in it, either… but after living with Lilith and seeing his former best friend turned vampire?  He couldn’t deny it.

Tsung seemed to share the same worries as his son and so he tried to have a talk with Fujin one afternoon.  Tsung had never truly been bullied, but smart kids were always subject to scrutiny from their peers.  Fujin just laughed off his grandpa’s silly worries.

“Fights?  I’m not that big of a dork, grandpa!’

It was true.  As much as Fujin emulated his mother, he still had a bit of the family spunk in him, too.

Still, Fujin’s absolute favorite thing to do was collect bugs.  When he wasn’t doing his homework or attending school, he was rooting around in the dirt and grass looking for bugs to add to his collection.  He was a bit OCD about collecting, insisting that he needed to “catch ‘em all” in the real sense of the word.  Well, at least he wasn’t getting dirty from the kids pushing him in the mud…

———————–

Note from Mao: Fujin is hilarious.  His OTH is Science, but he loves nature, too.  He’s an odd little guy.  I am determined to finish a bug collection and Fujin will be my guy!  Also, Fou-Lu keeps coming over.  CONSTANTLY.  Geeze.  That’s a lot of miles you’re putting on your car, Lu.

Now, funny pictures.  This update had plenty, but I picked two choice ones:

Is Tsung lecturing River about public woohoo?  Zhou seems to think Tsung should lecture Fou-Lu.  Fou-Lu thinks he should go home.  River thinks they’re all crazy.

Uh, guys?  GUYS!  HE’S RIGHT THERE.  Creepy.  As.  Hell.  WTF?

Davis – Round 23: ‘Surprise!’

Fou-Lu and Elena have finally reconciled, much to their daughter Emma’s delight.  They have no plans to get married anytime soon, but are enjoying their new found family dynamic.

Emma and Six continued to be inseparable.  Six would wait until Emma came home from school and their routine would begin.  Emma liked to watch television before she started her homework and Six would sit and watch as aptly as her childhood master.  It was an odd sight, a cat watching TV, but one that they became accustomed to.  Where Emma went, Six went.

Fou-Lu’s work schedule allowed him to spend an ample amount of time caring for and spending time with Emma.  It certainly made up for the years he’d been missing from her life (no choice on his part, he didn’t know she existed!)  He would keep an eye on her and then tuck in her when it was bed time.  He was still the same old Fou-Lu, but caring for Emma caused him to be a little bit more grown up.  He learned to consider her before himself.

Elena, unfortunately, did not have the ability to spend heaps of time with Emma.  Her job kept her very busy and while she wanted to succeed, she was beginning to feel a pang of jealousy for all the time Emma and Fou-Lu had together.  She felt like she was slowly slipping out of Emma’s life and off the radar.  When Emma brought her report card home, she usually ran past her and to Fou-Lu.  Of course, Emma also knew that Elena was very busy and probably just didn’t want to bother her.

It was a horrible thought.  Elena wished she had more time to spend with her daughter.

When Elena voiced her concerns to Fou-Lu, he told her not to worry about it.  That Emma didn’t like him anymore than he liked her and she was being silly.  Emma was more like Elena than him, so he assured her that it was simply a matter of her knowing and not wanting to interfere with Elena’s ambitions.  It comforted Elena a little, but she was still determined to spend more time with her daughter.

Little did she know something was in the works to guarantee her plenty of time…

Elena found out, quite abruptly, that she was pregnant.  It was a shock, to be sure.  She had been on the job and had to run off-stage to go puke her guts out.  After several more bouts of completely unbearable nausea, she went to the doctor’s.  When she came home with the news, Fou-Lu was happy, but Emma was a bit put off.  She wasn’t ready to share her parents.

“You’re going to look like a beachball!  Beachballs are gross!”

“How do you think she looked with you, brat?” Fou-Lu countered good-naturedly.

“Not like a beachball!”

As Elena’s pregnancy advanced, so did Emma’s age.  She was soon a teenager and filled with a teenager’s concerns and whims.  She still wasn’t pleased about the impending addition.  She really didn’t want to have to share her parents.  She had been the baby, and she liked it.  She was spoiled.

“Come on, Em.  You know that’s not true.  We love you, and a baby won’t change that,” Elena tried to reassure her daughter.

“But you’ll be so busy with the new baby and you’ll think ‘well, Emma is old enough, she can care for herself’ and I’ll be left out in the cold!”

Elena sighed, “you know that’s ridiculous.  Stop it.  We love you.”

“Yeah, well,” Emma began, indignant, “if you start ignoring me, I’ll run away to Grandpa Gordon’s!  He’ll still love me…”

Eventually, Emma came around, not completely, but enough.  She would try to feel when the baby kicked and was quite fascinated by the way the pregnancy progressed.  It wasn’t as gross as it had been when she was younger.  She still didn’t want to share, but maybe being a big sister wouldn’t be completely awful… besides, they had found out it was a girl and having a little sister was a much better prospect than having a baby brother!

—————————-

Note from Mao: Elena did give birth, but it was after the round was over (I couldn’t wait to see it).  It was a girl named Emily… with, get this, the ANDERSON skintone.  WTF?  Anyway, you’ll see her next round.  Oh, and I lost the picture, but Emma has a big crush on Gregory Anderson, FYI.

Also, during this round, I was met with a MAJOR surprise.  All of the sudden, I heard BOOOOING!  So I looked around and saw Viola slapping Patrick silly.  Uh oh!  Someone’s been busted!  I had completely forgot that he and the landlord were semi-lovers and yeah.  The BBQ turned into Jerry Springer.

So, that’ll be something to deal with next round.  Note that Patrick is right there, too.  sigh.

Yu 3 – Round 23: ‘Addicted to Love, Pt. 5′

Shang Yu and Katarina Anderson have an understanding, one that’s gotten them through a rather long time together.

Of course, it’s business as usual at the Yu-Anderson household.  Katarina really enjoys the hot tub, really.  She takes most of her lovers down there to enjoy the seclusion.  Of course, things aren’t always so private… not that she minds.

That isn’t to say that Katarina and Shang don’t spend an ample amount of time together.  They have their own brand of love, one that isn’t limited by barriers and jealousy.  They have a lifestyle, a need to do things that other couples scoff at.  But they’re still together and those other couples?  Well, divorce rates have skyrocketed, haven’t they?  Though, there’s no speculation in the fact that the rest of the community would appreciate it if they kept their amorous ways behind closed doors.

Katarina isn’t one for privacy, though.  She loves hot tubs and she loves the public just as much.  She doesn’t even care when cranky old Mrs. Crumplebottom shoots her a look that could kill.  Katarina is just happy to give the old, prudish coot a heartattack!  How funny would that be?

Shang has his own conquests, though he’s slowed down as of late.  Katarina started late in life while Shang has been wooing his way through women for most of his.  He can see the end now and so he’s slowed down considerably.  It’s hard to believe he’s younger than Tsung, but he is.  Still, he knows Tsung will outlive him.  Shang’s life has been riddled with women, stress, and travel.  He’s put his body through more things than most can ever hope to.  He’s been lucky to keep going this long…

So when Death comes calling, Shang doesn’t fight him.  He’s lived a good life, an awesome life.  His sons will preserve, Katarina will live through his death, and life will go on.  Shang, meanwhile, has some hula girls in the afterlife to attend to.

Note from Mao: R.I.P., Shang!  You were a thorn in my side, but I’ll miss you anyway…

Yu 2 – Round 23: ‘Karma Chameleon, Pt. 1′

Marcus Yu returns to his childhood home after graduating University, where his aging mother awaits him anxiously.

Tracey was beyond happy to have someone else in the house again.  It wasn’t that she feared any retribution for her warning to Roman, but simply that she was lonely.  She knew Gordon wouldn’t pull anything against her and so far, hadn’t even acted against Roman yet.  She simply didn’t want to be alone anymore and she was excited to see Marcus settle down, like Shelly planned to.  She couldn’t wait to have grandbabies.  With Marcus and Shelly, she didn’t have to fight over the ability to see them like she did Michael.  She hated that their relationship was pretty much nonexistent now, but what could she do?

Things fell into a routine and Tracey was disappointed that Marcus didn’t seem to be in any hurry to settle down.  She had heard rumors of him messing around with Kit Knight, but had hoped them to be false.  Since he arrived, she hadn’t seen Kit, so maybe it had ended, whatever ‘it’ had been.  Instead, Marcus vaguely mentioned a girl named Valerie.  That was a nice name, Tracey mused.  When would she get to meet her?

Unfortunately for Tracey, Valerie only came over when Tracey was at work.  It was a little weird living with his mother, even if he was the technical heir and that, in and of itself, was an honor in these parts.  It just didn’t feel right to flaunt Valerie in front of her, so he waited until Tracey was gone to have her over.  They were adults now, doing adult things meant for adults.  It was a lot different, they’d changed, matured.  Marcus liked Valerie, but he wasn’t sure if he loved her.

One thing he was sure of, he didn’t love Kit Knight and he was kind of tired of the drama.  James was a good guy and Marcus was over this little ‘fling’.  When she called him up, he refused her and told her that she shouldn’t call anymore.  He may even have mentioned that he and Valerie were maybe-serious again.  Was that true?  He wasn’t sure, but anything to get Kit off his back.  Why was she so insistent on causing James so much agony?

—————-

Note from Mao: It took forever, but Marcus finally spun up a want to go on a date and so he phoned Valerie.  Up until that, he simply wanted to call and chat with Kit and Valerie, that was it.  Agh.  Kit called, as you can see above, but Marcus wasn’t responding well to the conversation.  That fling is definitely over.  Now lets see if he spins up some commitment wants with Valerie.  I was surprised, he didn’t even make any booty calls!  He is really showing Tracey some respect, LOL.  The boy went without for three days!

Anderson 3 – Round 23: ‘Wrapped Around Your Finger, Pt. 1′

Nathaniel and Sara Anderson are holding out hope that Cole will be their ‘normal’ child.  His fiance, Shelly Yu, seems pretty normal…

Shelly moved in with her future in-laws, hoping to secure a job in politics.  She managed to get as high as a Judge, but to be a Senator, she’d need to gain some public appeal and campaign a bit.  That was fine, she had plenty of time.  Her true goal was to eventually become mayor.  Until then, she’d cool her heels and wait for Cole to graduate University, so they could marry and legitimize their relationship in the public eye.

Sara thought Shelly seemed normal enough, maybe a little pushy and aggressive, but normal.  They talked about random things, sometimes movies, which eventually led to Patrick.  Sara could only sigh when Patrick was mentioned.  He had married Viola, yes, and they had an adorable son… but her son was a lout and if he thought he was being sneaky, he was wrong.  Nathaniel was the only thing keeping him from a good, old-fashioned mother-to-son beat down.  That boy needed some sense smacked into him!

Fortunately for Patrick, Sara also realized a lot of her anger stemmed from the loss of Lilith Yu.  It just seemed wrong for her to no longer be around…

Nathaniel was equally as affected.  He was a lot more quiet now, a bit more somber, thoughtful, even.  Lilith would have laughed at that!  Nathaniel, being thoughtful.  He missed his twin, in all her abrasive, brash glory.  Sara spent most of her time online, working on things for Gordon, while Shelly was building her contact base.  She was good at schmoozing and was slowly, but surely, getting a foothold on a lot of potentially rewarding friendships.

When she wasn’t busy smooth talking fellow politicians, Shelly was with Cole.  He had a lot of free time, what with his classes slowly tapering off as the semesters came to a close.  He was on his last two years and fairly intelligent, so it wasn’t as if he struggled.  They often met up in Aperture, which served as a midway point between Boreal Springs and Boreal Summit University.  No one was quite sure what the town council was thinking when they named the places.

Of course, when you’re young, topics tend to move towards the obvious… but being a pillar of the people’s law, Shelly couldn’t indulge such things in public.

No one said anything about not indulging them privately, though!  Cole could rarely stay the night, he usually left around ten, taking the long drive back to Boreal Summit University.  It was a pain, to go back and forth, but he was determined to make sure Shelly didn’t question his fidelity.  Not that she would, she already knew that he was securely wrapped around her finger.  It was the first step for any future woman entering politics.

————————

Note from Mao: Shelly is a real ball-buster!  And Cole is a little puppy dog, following at her heels.  Cracks me up.  Shelly is well on her way to becoming Mayor.  Poor Sara and Nathaniel were so depressed this round…

Yu – Round 23: ‘Still Waiting, End’

Tsung and Lilith are happy to finally have a grandchild!  Zhou and River seem to be adapting well to their new roles as parents.

River was finding that being a mom wasn’t nearly as hard as she thought.  Of course, she had plenty of support, maybe too much support.  Lilith and Tsung were there every step of the way, almost as if they feared little Fujin might just disappear if they turned their backs.  It was a bit suffocating, but River also knew they meant well.  Besides, their help was necessary if she wanted to keep her career going.

Chairman Mao wasn’t quite sure what to make of the new tot.  It ate, slept a lot, and cried a lot.  Kittens were cuter.

River wasn’t entirely responsible for Fujin’s care, Zhou helped out quite a bit, too.  He enjoyed the little bundle, even if it was hard to curb his penchant for foul words.  It certainly helped that being a father seemed to up River’s attraction level to him even more.  Another good reason Lilith and Tsung were always around to watch Fujin…

Things all seemed to settle into a pattern, and everyone was happy.  Of course, Lilith still shouted at Zhou to move his lousy butt before he caused her to lose her game.  It wouldn’t be the same if she didn’t.  It also wouldn’t be the same if Zhou actually listened to her, instead of just cooing over the cat and making his mother so angry her face became an uncomely shade of dark purple, almost like a grape.

Lilith was incredibly surprised when her time was up.  She could have sworn she still had more life left in her, but Grim disagreed.  It was her time to go.  Tsung was distraught.  Lilith moved on without much of a fight, but she definitely gave Grim quite a bit of lip.  She wasn’t one to go down without a bit of sass.  It was a shame she wouldn’t get to see Fujin grow up!

Tsung retired immediately after Lilith’s death, determined to immortalize his late wife the same way his father had.  It was a mad goal–Tsung had never painted, and yet he seemed to take to it like a fish to water.  Isolde Anderson stopped by after the funeral to pick something up.  Tsung didn’t pay it any mind.  He knew Isolde and Lilith had been involved in a world he wanted no part of.  Whatever it was, Isolde could handle it… Lilith had taught her well.

Fujin soon became old enough to toddle around on his own and so it was a good thing Tsung had retired.  When he finished his painting, he hung it up and felt some sort of peace wash over him.  He could enjoy his final years now, with his family.  Both boys had made out fairly well, even if Fou-Lu had some bumps along the way.  It wouldn’t be long for Tsung to remain, though, Lilith was waiting and everyone knew how patient she’d been living…

—————————

Note from Mao: I was so sad when grim came to collect Lilith!  Her age bar said she still had more time.  :(   Bye bye, Lilith.  You will definitely be missed!  In order to help you with your grief, I give you a totally random picture of Zhou.  It made me crack up.

‘Why so seeerious, Zhou?’

B.S.U. Campus – Round 22: ‘Turn Me Loose, End’

There’s plenty of people and drama to go around at Boreal Summit University the next two years…

The next two years at Boreal Summit University proved to be… awkward ones.  James, Marcus, and Shelly were all finishing their final years.  That was well and good, aside from the fact Marcus was sleeping with James’ girlfriend.  Of course, Marcus felt awful about it, especially because he was really interested in starting up a relationship with his former high school flame.  It was kind of hard when he kept randomly running into Kit and sleeping with her, though.

“Don’t even talk to her, don’t kiss her, just avoid her,” James suggested, surprisingly calm.

“You are handling this way too well, dude,” Marcus replied, stunned.

“You’re not the problem, Marcus, you’re a distraction.  Claude freakin’ Saunders is the problem.  Damn vampire.”

Cole wasted no time approaching Shelly.  She hadn’t really spent time trying to find romance in college.  Instead, she found herself kind of missing Cole.  She had always wanted Timothy O`Hanlon, but she was beginning to realize that may have been a shallow, teenaged girl fantasy.  She and Cole had a lot more in common and he would also cow-down and do whatever she said.  He was a bit of a pushover, the kind of person Shelly needed if she was going to make her dreams come true and become the next mayor of Boreal Springs.

So she accepted his advances and they started a true, non-fake relationship.  If anything, the Anderson name would certainly give her a leg-up in the political world.

Isolde, meanwhile, was still studying her ‘art’.  She’d had many talks with Lilith Yu and when she finally arrived at University, she couldn’t keep herself away from Timothy.  Together, they both brought her out of her negative spiral.  She stopped sulking and brooding and went back to what she loved.

“What are you doing?” Timothy asked one evening as Isolde tested her cauldron for the first time.

“Trying to make something for Lilith,” Isolde said, trying to concentrate.

“Screw potions,” Timothy replied, giving the globe in his hand a pained look, “use magic on this damn thing.  How did anyone ever manage to figure this thing out?”

Isolde sighed, “I don’t think it works like that.”

There were some definite perks to being a witch.  Isolde had the best transportation to class and anywhere else–a broom!  A real, flying broom.  Sure it was a gaudy blue, complete with a weird crystal at the end of it’s stick, but what could beat a flying broom?  Absolutely nothing.  She couldn’t wait until she’d studied enough to have a spectral assistant.  Timothy tried, but he really wasn’t very good at handling the reagents.

Poor Cole, meanwhile, was finding that tinkering was not exactly his thing.  The computer broke in the midst of him working hard on his term paper.  He tried to fix it only to get quite a jolt.  Thankfully, Isolde was around and she quickly hit him with a rejuvination spell.  He wasn’t enamored with her anymore, but he was certainly thankful for her helpful, witchy ways.

Shelly had different ideas of ‘healing wounds’.  Not that Cole particularly disagreed with her methods.  Perhaps it wasn’t smart to leave a bunch of unattended, young adults in a house all by themselves.  It would seem that none of their parents even considered they would do anything questionable.  Well, okay, Cole’s had.  Sara called constantly, reminding him that he was their last hope.  No pressure or anything.

Of course, you can’t have two family sims without a little trouble, either.  Sure, Isolde was knowledge-minded first and foremost, but her second inclination was family.  Perhaps that’s why she and Timothy got along so well.  They had plenty of chemistry, though it probably wasn’t wise to explore the chemistry right before an important final exam.

But then again, most guys don’t have girlfriends with witchy ways.  Timothy heads off to his final exam feeling completely rejuvenated and safe in the knowledge that he’s totally got college in the bag.

James, Marcus, and Shelly all graduated with honors, much to the delight of their parents.  Cole wasn’t about to let Shelly run off into the sunset.  He proposed to her rather spontaneously, right before she was preparing to leave with Marcus.  Of course, she accepted.  Instead of staying in a cramped little apartment, she’d go make nice with her future in-laws.  It would be awkward, but they had a nice house.  James seemed shocked by the display, wondering if Cole knew exactly what he was getting into.  Not that he was one to talk, really.

Meanwhile, outside, Marcus was chatting up his old flame, Valerie.  She was surprisingly also on campus and they had met a few times through classes and just random campus things.  She’d grown up quite well, he couldn’t deny it.  There was still an attraction there and maybe, since they were both adults now, a chance at something more.  They passed numbers and Marcus moved to leave with Shelly.  James would leave in the morning.

—————————–

Note from Mao: Isolde really wants Timothy to be a warlock, LOL.  Poor Timothy, I don’t think he has it in him to do witchy things.  He’s too confused by that silly game ball, he brings it out constantly and makes pained faces.  Cole immediately walked up to Shelly and planted one on her.  I was too shocked for a picture.  Seems he took the Tsung way of confrontation!  Either way, he wanted to get engaged and so they did.  Marcus kept having wants to talk to Valerie, so there she is.  She’s a pretty sim, despite her over-painted, pudgy-faced teen years.

Davis – Round 22: ‘You Turn the Screws, End’

Emma was ecstatic when her father, Fou-Lu Yu, moved in with them at the new place Elena had procured.  He even brought a present–Six, a very fluffy, very cute cat.  She spent a great bit of time cuddling and loving Six and in return, Six pretty much followed her around throughout the house.  Elena had been apprehensive about having a cat, she had been raised with dogs, but found that Emma’s fondness or Six couldn’t be compromised.

Gordon had sent over a very nice piano as a gift for Emma.  She was starting piano lessons, something she enjoyed more than the violin, she found.  Six would try and sing along, mewling along with the notes as Emma effortlessly played.  She was talented like her father and her mother, that was for certain.

Of course, when Emma was at school, Fou-Lu and Elena were making their own use of the new furniture.  Probably not what it had been intended for.  Neither of them really spoke very much about taking it any further than this.  Fou-Lu was just happy to be with Elena and Emma and Elena still couldn’t think about anything serious past this.  She wasn’t sure why.  She had always loved Fou-Lu, but she couldn’t really allow herself to be locked into it.  It was strange, because she was the responsible one.  You’d think she’d want a commitment, not the easygoing, childish Fou-Lu.

Elena got quite the surprise one night.  While Fou-Lu was out of town for a few days, her entire family popped up on her stoop at 1am.  Okay, maybe not all at once, they certainly wouldn’t fit, but Michael and Sade came first, followed shortly after by Gordon, Lauren, and Claude.  Once she managed to shuffle them all quietly into the livingroom, she demanded an explanation.

“Dad called and told me to check on you,” Michael offered first, followed by Sade:

“And I was coming, too.”

“Your father, in his infinite wisdom, forgot that Sade was pregnant and so tried to call them back and tell them it was all right, he’d go,” Lauren added, followed by Claude:

“And then I said, no, mom, let us go.  We’re the men.”

“And then she slapped him and we all came,” Gordon finished, looking up at her, smiling.  “We were worried about you.  There’s… some things going down, Elena.  You and Emma being alone at night, it’s worrying.”

While Elena read their father the riot act on how she’s a grown woman and she can take care of herself and her family, Claude decided to get Michael in even more hotwater than he already was.  Trying to sneak off at 1am does not usually go over well with a pregnant wife.

“Sade, really, should you be out walking around and stuff?  You look pretty pregnant,” Claude said, not trying to sound insensitive, but he was Claude and so, well, yeah.

Michael shot him a look from behind Sade, as if to say, ‘are you trying to get me killed?’

“Do you enjoy having fangs, Claude?” Was all Sade said, her voice hard and terse.  Claude shivered and said nothing more.  “That’s what I thought.”

He sent his half-brother a look of pure sympathy and apology.

Suddenly, Emma came shuffling down the steps.  She saw everyone gathered and quickly ran towards them, arms outstretched.  Gordon was already standing.  He embraced his granddaughter quite snugly, glad to see she was all right.

“Grandpa!  What are you doing here?” Emma asked, fully aware of the time.

“Just… talking with your mother,” Gordon offered, then smiled.  “Do you like your piano?”

“Oh, yes!  It’s fantastic!  Do you want me to play it for you?”

Elena tried to say no, but tomorrow was Saturday and everyone was here already.  She looked at her mother, “we should probably go make some breakfast.”

Michael glared at Claude and said, “and you should probably get me a suitcase, because if this idiot keeps talking, I’m either going to be dead or kicked out!”

“I’m going next door to see Patrick,” Sade said stiffly.

Fou-Lu returned, none-the-wiser about the criminal activity nor the fact that Elena’s father and entire family had been collected in the livingroom.  Elena had told Emma that some things involving Grandpa Gordon were best left unsaid.  Emma thought she understood and so remained quiet.  Their routinue continued.  Emma was definitely happy her parents were together.  There was always someone there with her, especially Fou-Lu.  He normally only worked weekends and was home all day during the week.  She got away with a lot when Fou-Lu was with her, but she was still sure to always do her homework.

Note from Mao: It would only make sense for Gordon to want to check in on Elena after what happened with Claude.  He knew Michael would be too smart to fall for anything, since Michael knows what and who he is and has for a better part of his life.  It was still hilarious to see them all clustered in the livingroom.  Poor Michael.  Elena and Fou-Lu, thankfully, make use of the bed more than the couch.  Emma and Six are inseperable.

Yu 3 – Round 22: ‘Addicted to Love, Pt. 3′

Shang Yu and Katarina Anderson have a good relationship and setup.  They’re also quite happy that their son, James, is excelling in University.

Katarina, despite the addition of gray hair and some wrinkles, aged well.  It certainly didn’t stop her from her romancing ways.  In fact, it helped her, in some cases.  Not every man likes a young, innocent thing.  Katarina knew exactly what she was doing and that, in and of itself, was quite the commodity…

Upon the death of her mother, Alyssa Anderson, Katarina decided to work hard at getting Distinguished Designs to rank 10.  She did it, with a lot of hard work and effort by both herself and the manager.  Of course, running the place also led to awkward situations, like running into Travis Knight.  He and Marla had recently moved back to Boreal Springs, where Distinguished Designs was located.

James also stopped by as frequently as he could.  Sure, his parents were weird, but they were his parents.  He had his own life and ideals.  He was always happy to see his dad, especially since they both shared a major love of music.  James was smart, but he had the uncanny ability to also be intensely creative.

Katarina wasn’t too sure James knew what he was getting himself into, though, with Kit Knight.  They had all heard about her, being involved in the romancing world as they were, and tried to warn James.  He wouldn’t hear any of it.  It was a phase, it would change.  She was just acting out because her family had tension because of cheating.  He looked pointedly at his mother, causing her to laugh.  Good times, good times…

Shang was still dating, but he had also taken up a new hobby–people watching through the telescope.  Unfortunately, he had been looking a little too long at the pregnant Viola Kalson and she called him out.  She was scary!  It must have been the crazy pregnant hormones or something.  After that, Shang stayed away from the telescope for awhile…

Note from Mao: Poor Viola!  She’s Boreal Spring’s selected ‘spy’ person.  Anytime someone looks through the telescope during the day, Viola comes over and beats on them, LOL.
